You guys know that one pic? Yeah
A little drawing from a raving with friends. We had to draw one of our characters as if they lived in the Zelda universe. So here’s Edge as a Twili from Twilight princess c:
Still a WIP but I’m happy with the linework.

Got one for you!
This is supposed to be a Twilight Princess Twili OC. Not sure how it works, as only Midna is given the human like appearance due to being a princess. Other twili aren't as humanlike. She also seems to be Midna's apprentice but doesn't really state why. She's apparently also in a relationship with another character but doesn't seem to mind being overly flirty with other characters (such as hitting/kissing on every Dark Link blog there is). She has no real flaws so far from what one can read on her ask blog. The only real good thing about her is that the art is of rather decent quality.

Hi!
Thanks for bringing this OC to our attention. J
Most of what you addressed is pretty spot-on with what I would critique about this character. While the design overall seems rather nice and along with the canon, it wouldn’t be possible. Twili are – as you have mentioned – not as human-like as Midna was. It is believed that since Midna is of royal blood in that species, it is the reason why she is more human-like in comparison to other twili.
I wish I could get better examples of the variety of Twili that were shown in the game but all I can pull up is this:
Others range in height and girth, but overall the eyes and markings are consistent through all of the Twili. Even Zant doesn’t have irises or pupils; his eyes are a solid, orange color. Zant himself is more human-like as well, but I believe that is also due to his link to the royal lineage in the Twilight Realm. The inclusion of clothes within the Twili seems to be a symbol of status as well, seeing as how the only two Twili that are clothed are Zant and Midna (in the normal form, when the curse upon her is lifted). I read around and saw that some people theorize that the black markings around the other Twili might actually be their form of clothing as well, seeing as how the black markings cover areas that clothes would typically cover. (So the black markings around Aurora would be fairly accurate, though some of the patterning shouldn’t be so consistently edgy since it removes the illusion that makes the markings seem skin tight.) From all the examples I could pull up, it seems that the Twili have only orange hair and no ears. So here would be another change that the creator should make. So overall, in order to make this OC more believable and in tune with the Twilight Princess canon, the creator would need to dehumanize the design of Aurora, deeply consider the meaning of clothing within the Twili and touch upon the black markings, give her solid colored eyes, and remove the ears/change the hair color. I also just want to comment a bit on her name as well, though I usually don’t. Names in the Zelda universe typically aren’t actual words. So a name like Aurora Shadows doesn’t really fit when you compare her name to all of the other names in the Zelda universe (also, many of them don’t have last names. O: )
As for her hired position – or so I will call it – servants and apprentices are two completely different things. It would be difficult for one person to be both just on terms of how each position is viewed. Servants are more distant to their masters, simply doing their will while apprentices are brought to their masters are on a more closer level since one needs to learn from the other. Of course, I can be wrong and the combination may work, but it seems a bit difficult to me. Another reason that deters me from Aurora being both is that since Midna is a princess, I cannot see the possibility in her having an apprentice. A servant, caretaker, or bodyguard – yes – but apprentices usually learned from working class traders of sorts and I’m not sure if someone of royalty would bother teaching anyone what they know (especially if you look into princess duties, they basically don’t do much but that’s a whole other tangent). I mean I’m sure the OC maker can get around that by creating another character that Aurora can learn from? Just having too many connections to Midna will hinder their character.
As for the fact that the character claims to be in a relationship, but goes around flirting on other blogs and what-not, I guess that’s more for fun on the creator’s part for the sake of RPing. I can’t really say anything against it if they want to make their OC promiscuous, though it may not be favorable in the opinion of others. (it would be different if she was making a story out of this character and she was somehow able to interact with dark links, since I don’t see how that would work because she should be trapped in the twilight realm. And if it were possible there should be some consequences between her and her significant other.)
Overall, the character seems to be just in the beginning stages of development since she doesn’t seem to have too much depth put into her. The design is at an okay start, but if the creator pays a finer attention to the way the Twili in Twilight Princess are, I’m sure they can improve on Aurora greatly. I’m not sure if they have an actual background story for this character, but if they do not, they should invest on creating one to introduce the character to those who visit their blog. It would make for better understanding on the character for those who visit her page and it may help clear out confusion that some Zelda fans might have when looking at the brief info of this OC.
I hope I covered this well! It would also be nice if the original creator’s attention is brought to the critique, that way they know their character’s been looked at.
Thanks again for the submission. :3
