ZANKA NIJIKU
Zanka didn't mean to overhear, he was just passing by. His ears also didn't mean to pick up on your voice and Enjin's–it's a coincidence, that's all it was.
“-Frankly, I'm tired of you and Zanka tiptoeing around each other!” Enjin's voice seeped through the closed door, echoing in the empty hallway and straight through his head.
What did Enjin mean by tiptoeing around each other?
“Well stay tired! There's nothing going on between us.” Zanka could hear the exasperation in your voice. He also envisioned your annoyed face at the older man. So you were also inside…he thought the older cleaner was talking to himself.
“So sleeping together in one bed is what friends do nowadays huh?” Enjin chortled as you gasped comically, Zanka could hear someone getting hit. “You make it sound so-!”
What?
Zanka felt his face heat up at the implication of his words. His hands were clamming up and he felt faint the longer he stood behind the door. Honestly, he should have walked away once he heard of the hushed conversation. But could anyone blame him, knowing that said conversation included you?
“Well, it's a good time for you to make a move then! It's been what, a few months? You can just confess to the guy and everything will be solved!” The cleaners’ insinuation isn't lost on Zanka, in fact it made his heart beat uncontrollably in his chest.
Enjin's just messing with you both, there's no way in hell you have feelings for him…right?
A long silence stretched out before he heard a quiet voice mutter, “it's not that easy…” It wasn't a denial or the aggravated tone you had on earlier. Zanka planned on leaving to clear his head and not be spotted by the both of you, yet he was so distracted to the point of pushing the door ajar.
The sound snapped both of you to stare at the now opened door, your fellow cleaner absolutely red in the face–mouth open. “U-uh…”
Before you question his presence, Zanka became a flurry of sound and color as he bolted out of the room. Enjin, who was still seated beside you, guffaws and shakes your figure in excitement.
Wanting to clear the misunderstanding, you forced yourself to stand up and follow– though remembering his flustered state and how quick he was to evade any kind of questioning lit your heart aflutter.
Maybe, you’ll let this accident slide. Who knows, a confession may come out of it sooner or later.
KOMANO MANATO
Classes had finished for the semester so you had more time to help around the house. Be it chores or some random errands, you at least wanted to be useful before fully embracing the temptation that is your bed.
While chopping some vegetables for tonight’s dinner, your phone rang on the table. And before you had the chance to pick it up, your mother was quick to snatch it and answer.
You didn’t mind this, as this was what you always did when somebody called your mom’s cellphone. While placing the sliced veggies on a plate, a feeling of dread surged through your body as a familiar name left her lips.
“Ah, Manato!” Again, you didn't mind your mother doing this but the way her face contorted into a smug grin made you imagine what devious tricks she had up her sleeve.
So far, she hadn't said anything weird, which is good. She was offering pleasantries and checking in with your friend and his siblings. You fully expected her to give you the phone to talk with said friend.
A few seconds pass by before, “by the way, when is your date going to be?” Your head whipped in your mother's direction, she had her back turned to you.
Having enough of whatever topic this was going to be, you marched over and plucked the phone out of her hold. She only gave you an expectant look before going back to the stove to check on the food.
“Manato?” You found your voice, hoping that he'd hung up right away so you didn't have to defend yourself from that embarrassment.
“Hey…” his voice—you recently found out— had this weird effect. Your stomach went all crazy, which doesn't usually happen when you are hanging out with him.
You apologized for the earlier mishap, but Manato only chuckled. To your horror and to your mom's amusement, that made you grow flustered.
“It's fine. But, I'm kinda curious what date she meant?” More questions meant more time ruminating over the fact that you may have a sliiight crush on Manato.
“Uh, she meant the fruit?” A stupid answer, hopefully he wouldn't call you out on that.
“...Mhm, you really think so?” His voice carried this teasing lilt that felt unnatural to hear from someone like him, so you pointedly ignored this. Though you really don't think Manato speaking like that is good for your heart. His laughter again, floats through your phone speaker.
“Did you mean to say that out loud?” Gosh, were you really just fumbling at this point? Maybe you ingested something that made you so talkative and unaware that you were rambling-
“Should I just hang up?” Manato asks again, clearly amused from the conversation you orchestrated yourself.
“Wait! Just hear me out,” you say, clearing your throat, pacing back and forth inside the kitchen. “We can talk normally, after I'm done here. I can say what I want…properly this time.”
Once you said those words, you could feel your mother vibrating from where she was prepping the dinner table. While your heart, continuously thrummed inside of your chest; it might as well have jumped out of you at this point.
Manato hummed, “Okay. I'll see you then.” Simple, to the point–like what comes after this wasn’t going to change your entire friendship.
SHINONOME AKITO
The first time it happened was during lunch time, you had set down your bento on the table where you usually sat with Emu.
Said girl was already rushing you to sit down, her whole being sparkling that it almost blinded you. You two get to talking about your day, what activities went down during classes and wondering if you could get invited to one of her shows (in which she quickly agreed to).
While you were speaking, Emu's gaze flitted to the cinammonroll charm you had dangling on your phone. “Oh, where'd ya get that?” Your attention falls on the memorabilia, reminded of the shopping trip you had with Akito.
It was summer at that time, you had invited the ginger to spend the day together before practice swallowed him up. He begrudgingly readily agreed and before you went your separate ways, you forced Akito to match phone charms with you.
“You literally said you were gonna stop spending today…” he sighed, staring at the badtz-maru phone charm you've thrusted in his direction.
“But it was on sale!” You pouted and he only offered a raised eyebrow, still not accepting your gift.
“Does that mean I have to accept it?” Akito squinted his eyes, scrutinizing your annoyed expression.
Grumbling, you snatched it back and stuffed it back inside your bag. Your friend continued snickering before slinging an arm around you, “Don't be mad.”
The gesture alone flushed your face with color.
Back to the present, your pink-haired friend watched as your face slowly flustered. “Hey?” The word snapped you out of your daydreams, remembering that you were indeed outside and not at home.
The second time it happened, you were at a cafe with Emu. It was a spur of the moment invite, and since you didn't have anything better to do, you just followed her and decided to relax.
After ordering, she laid both your drinks, “You ordered something different today I see.” It was a jest, a harmless and normal observation coming from your friend who knows you loved ordering iced drinks when at cafes.
But your mind wanders to the fact that this was Akito's favorite drink, and that causes your face to burn hotly. Emu could only stare in amusement as you tried your best to splutter incoherent sentences in defense to your reaction.
The third (and last time) it happened was at dinner in the Shinonome household. Akito had invited you over as he did so in the past few years. And while eating, your conversation with the ginger escalated to playful bickering.
From an outsider's perspective, you looked as if you were genuinely flirting with the other. And in this case, it was Ena— Akito’s older sister who had enough of your back-and-forth.
“Geez, can you just kiss already?”
Her words registered in your brain, prompting you to jump in mortification. Your body reeled itself back and you wished the floor would swallow you whole. Meanwhile, Akito—uncharacteristically remained quiet, because he'd usually be the first one to fight his sister over this.
You quickly downed the meal in front of you and rushed to stand abruptly, bidding a quick farewell to the siblings. In all honesty, it was quite rude of you to leave after being graciously invited. But you imagined the nausea that came with your realized feelings.
Though, you should not have left so suddenly. Because you could have witnessed Akito get so red in the face that his sister couldn't stop laughing.
RIDDLE ROSEHEARTS
It was near final exams and no matter how much information you crammed inside your brain, it just couldn't process the language the book spewed out.
Deuce, ever the empath—comforted you in this dilemma. Being reminded of the fact that you grew up in a different universe than theirs, needing to add the fundamentals of magic and alchemy onto your basic knowledge of the world.
Sure you could catch up on other subjects, yet trying to orient yourself on the whimsical laws of Twisted Wonderland made you wish another black carriage crashed into your sorry self.
On hour two of trying to memorize the years wherein the Great Seven rose to power, your bleary eyes wandered off to your mischievous companion who was completely zonked out beside you.
Oh how you wished to only stuff yourself with food and fool around like your academics didn't matter.
When asked when he planned to study, Grim only laughed at you and said, "The great and illustrious Grim doesn't need to study!" You reminded him of what happened at Octavinelle dorm and you're answered with a groan and dismissal.
At this point, you’re desperate for a tutor. Anyone who was willing to take you under their wing—in order to survive just this final exam. At first, Azul was an enticing candidate—he literally created the study guide that raised the school's average on a previous examination. But you were also reminded of the stress you went through when trying to undo said deal.
There was also Jamil, who could probably tutor you. But you remember that he also has the Al-Asim heir and probably a million other things to worry about, so you erased that from your head.
The only other eligible candidate in your head was none other than the Heartslabyul Housewarden himself, Riddle Rosehearts. So there you stood behind his room's door. Feet planted on the floor, the nerves tingling beneath your skin. There were the other dorm residents who passed by, thinking you were either crazy or plotting his downfall maybe?
Before you were able to knock, the door opened and said housewarden faced you. A look of recognition passed his face before a small smile framed his features, “Good day Prefect.”
No words left you, probably too awestruck by him. So you both stood at the door in awkward silence before Riddle spoke again, “Did you need anything from me, Prefect?”
Remembering your original purpose, you nodded—features morphing in a sheepish expression. “Actually yes. I wanted to ask if you could help me…with the final exams? I know you’re really busy with your own exams, I’ll be an easy student I swear!”
Maybe you should've just stayed in your room and crammed as much information instead of asking Riddle to tutor you! It's not like he'll-
“Oh, that's quite alright. Let me know when you'll be free so we can get started?” His easy acceptance left you looking like a fish out of water. Not that you doubted that he’d accept, it was just…shocking!
“What's so surprising about it? I don't mind tutoring you.” Riddle speaks again and you've realized that you said that last part aloud. Your face bursts into color, sputtering about how he shouldn't have heard that.
He only chuckled and excused himself to leave. You could have swooned in silence, but a certain someone decided to interrupt your lovestruck thoughts.
“You are so whipped.” Ace snickered from behind you, and promptly got his ass beat afterward.
AZUL ASHENGROTTO
Azul's been acting weird lately.
You could feel his gaze burning into you, and whenever your eyes meet his – he always goes still, and quickly looks away like he'd been burned. He lingers behind your figure more often than not, quietly lurking as if he's scared of interrupting whatever you've been doing.
The problem was, you know he's been avoiding you all the same. The reason was unknown to you, yet his distaste was palpable from a mile away. You tried many times to approach him, breaching the topic of what’s wrong? Only to behold a defensive Azul, trying to hide behind his well-calculated facade.
When sharing your predicament to the ones who knew him most, Jade only smiled. Saying things like, ‘he shouldn't ruin the fun,’ Which made you all the more confused. For once in his life, can he stop being so mysterious?!
You wondered if prodding Floyd of his boss’ temperament would give you the answers you wanted. But you were also very bugged out about getting squeezed. Or moreso the thought of being the one prodded to the point of exasperation, so he's out of the list.
After exhausting your options, you've come to the conclusion that Azul probably didn't want to be bothered right now. You'd see how he was juggling many things—from his duties as housewarden to managing the Mostro Lounge. You realized that maybe he wasn't evading you because he wanted to, but because he didn't have the time.
With that in mind, you lessened your visits and cut short the conversations you had with him.
Despite the solution you've come up with, Azul became more sullen. The twins watched in amusement as their Housewarden followed you around like a duckling, eager for your attention like a sponge trying to suck up liquid.
To his credit, he was trying his damned best to get across his interest for you. He knew he was doing the right things, and he kind of researched a bit to do it appropriately. So he doesn't really get why you didn't understand his intentions.
After a few weeks had passed, you had enough of the dynamic you both created. You wanted answers and can't afford to lose sleep over this stupid…whatever it was.
And so, you marched over to where you knew the bespectacled second year was, ignoring the curious looks of his fellow club members. You grabbed his wrist, ignoring his flustered exclamations and dragging him outside into the hallway.
As your eyes meet his, you're welcomed with the sight of his flushed face and his slightly ajar mouth. If you weren't so mad at him, you would've kissed him right then and there-
“What!?” Azul shrieks, breaking you from your daydreams. He was now redder than a tomato—absolutely flustered to the point of fainting. Belatedly, you realized you've said that part out loud.
Well at least this would make confessing to Azul all the more easier.
content: angst/no comfort, you and rin are exes, yearning, an awkward interaction.
a/n: erm hi, i originally planned to come back three months ago but i got too caught up in writer's block :P wrote this in one go like a week or two ago, hopefully it isn't ass ^^;
you meet your ex-boyfriend at the airport.
it was a coincidence really, you were going home while he was leaving for a match.
and you had no way of knowing. you never opened your messages with him in fear of reopening wounds.
he was sitting at the benches, scrolling through his phone, and your heart started to pulse inside your chest. it was weird seeing him again. the breakup happened months ago, yet the pain felt much too fresh once you saw his face again.
his eyes drifted upwards, probably sensing a gaze directed towards him, and he stiffened. you quickly look away and find a seat far away from him. now you felt rin's eyes piercing against your nape. it sent shivers through your spine— that the man you once loved had casted his gaze on you again.
for some stupid reason, you wanted to talk to him. wanted to ask him what country he's going to and what match it was supposed to be. then you remember that you weren't together anymore, so there wasn't any point.
the knowledge of his presence forces you to stand up and approach him. the daunting feeling haunts your veins, sparking inside you as your feet carried your body to a once familiar man.
"rin."
when he said your name back, your chest flutters, and you will it to stop. this brings you back to delectable memories you'd rather not revisit.
"are you going somewhere?"
a stupid question. you both knew that, yet he doesn't comment on it and only nods.
"we have a match."
"france?"
he nods again, and silence follows. you're naturally curious about what else he'd be doing in another country other than compete, but do you even had the privilege to know that?
"that's nice."
your answers make you want to rip your hair out in frustration. you acted like you weren't once friends, you're acting like you never touched lips before, shared your darkest secrets with the other and dreamt of building a future together.
rin felt like a stranger. he is a stranger.
"how about you?" he asks.
i was going home today but, i saw you again and now i really want to come with you.
was what your thoughts screamed and what you yearned to tell him. but you don't, because you're aware you lost that privilege long ago.
"i'm going home."
what you said was a lie, because seeing rin again made you confront the feelings you had buried after you broke up. you never stopped loving him, and frankly, you never will.
you stopped the tears from surfacing and smile at him. telling him to have a safe trip and rin offered the sentiment back.
the walk back to your original seat had you feeling empty. despite the chaos of other travelers, flight announcements, and the planes' noise, you were now numb.
the memory of what once was played inside your head, soothing your now tattered heart.
i might not know, but again, I end up only thinking of you, girl

ITOSHI RIN
it was usually you who got jealous, not him.
he never minded how others treated him or you, rin never cared when girls threw themselves at him because you're the only one that occupied his every waking dream.
so no, rin admits he's never felt jealous in his life.
well, that was until today.
this was a rare time during your finals week - rin wanted to take you out on a date, to unwind and relax before the whirlwind of exams and projects take you along.
when rin entered the room you said you were in - he didn't expect the sight he had to take in.
you were dancing with an unfamiliar man, both of you looking awfully close - and the expression you had on your face made rin's stomach turn.
there was music also, a jingle of some sort that hurts his ears. he's visibly irritated now, he wanted to rip you away from the man even if that would cause a scene.
the feelings that brewed inside of him were indescribable but it made rin sick, he wanted to hit something- wanted to whisk you away to somewhere he could hide you.
despite the confusion with what he felt, he stalked closer to where you were still dancing with that other man.
when the music stops and your eyes meet rin's, you easily slip out of the man's grasp and go to hug your boyfriend.
he ignores the feeling of satisfaction that creeps inside of him when your arms secure itself around his nape.
"rinnie!" you say, and your voice washed away his worries - the ugly feelings brewing inside his chest and he brings out a small smile.
"yeah?"
"sorry i didn't tell you sooner! i was supposed to practice something, i was told just now." rin's eyes automatically flit towards the silver haired man you were dancing with.
"it's fine." rin tells you, even when he directs the man with a glare. he doesn't hide this action and you're left giggling.
"are you jealous?" you only smile, irises sparkling with mischief. and rin's heart can't help but beat rapidly against his chest. in which he's sure you knew, because you were smiling wider.
"i'm not." he grumbled, pinching your cheek. you grin stupidly at this- loving his current attention on you.
"sure you aren't, like i didn't see you glare at sunday." so that man has a name?
"well, you shouldn't worry your cute little head over- i love you, not him, okay?" you state this seriously, directly looking into his eyes - and rin, in the rare occasions that you fluster the fuck out of him - looked away.
"whatever," he tries to brush it off, yet the redness creeping up his cheeks says otherwise.
MICHAEL KAISER
like all couples do, you get into disagreements with kaiser.
though this specific fight annoyed him to the point that he started ignoring you. of course, him being a lovely boyfriend - didn't mean any of his words! he was just mad, okay?
yet now, you're the one ignoring his calls - when he sends a message your way, all he gets back is the daunting reminder you've left him on seen.
so what better way to make it up to you, than with food? after all, isn't the best way to a woman's heart through her stomach?
kaiser planned on surprising you with tour favorite takeout and some drinks. he, by the way, lowered his pride, just so he could talk to you again.
when he opened the door to the room you were usually in during lunchtime, what he saw made his heart sink.
you were eating with some ginger dude, the food looked homemade too! and you looked so happy eating it, beaming in the guy's direction like that guy was your boyfriend and not michael fucking kaiser.
kaiser gets a little irritated (and oh, it's not pretty), he grips the plastic in his hand and crumples it. he's pretty sure the guy could feel his glare burning into the back of his head, as the same person turned to stare at him, and had the audacity to wave?
your lovely boyfriend who was frankly, still pissed off- marched over to where you both are and he drops the takeout and drinks (gently) in front of you - pushing the homemade food away from your face.
"baby, sorry i'm late." kaiser emphasized the petname, by glaring at the dude in front of you.
"hey! i'm surprised you're here." your comment made his head snap towards you, like you weren't the one ignoring him?
"yeah. i messaged remember?" he smiled, his cheeks felt tense - he just wanted to be alone to actually apologize but this motherfucker can't get the hint?
"is this the boyfriend you were talking about?" the guy asked, and you nodded.
those words made kaiser feel...different, and he stared at you, silent and unbelieving. you only grinned and waved goodbye to the other guy as he stood up and left you both.
as soon as you were alone, you started snickering. and kaiser glared at you yet he wasn't irritated anymore, the pest exterminated itself swiftly.
"were you jealous over ajax?"
"that's stupid and your imagination, by the way." he scoffed, getting embarrassed once he realized how childish he acted.
"don't worry, you were adorable." you giggled before kissing his cheek (he goes red at this, which made you laugh more.)
OLIVER AIKU
one whole year. it had been a year since you said yes to being aiku's girlfriend, and a year since you've been kept a secret.
in normal aiku fashion, he doesn't see anything wrong with this. he assured you that he doesn't want other men to steal you away from him (but let's be real, that isn't the real reason)
so when he spotted you conversing with another guy, he felt a weird sensation climb up his throat. aiku reasoned it was because of an upcoming cold.
yet when he caught how your cheeks stretched into a wide smile, eyes shining from laughing - his fists tightened at the sides.
even if your relationship was a secret, wasn't it obvious that you were together?
with how distracted he was, aiku didn't notice that he went up to the both of you and placed a possessive arm on your back.
you shivered at his touch and stared at him in alarm, yet for some reason - aiku didn't care. he stared the guy up and down before speaking.
"baby, thought i told ya not to talk to strangers." said guy seemed offended by his statement. while you were also confused by your boyfriend's newfound behavior.
"aiku, what-?"
"that's babe to you." aiku interrupted your words and grinned. you also couldn't help the heat coming up your cheeks.
"i'm not a stranger though-"
"did you hear that?" he smiled before turning to face you. uncaring of the audience, he grabbed your chin softly and kissed you.
when aiku pulled away, the guy was (annoyingly) still there - while you were still reeling from his lips. your boyfriend holds your hand firmly before pulling you away.
well not before sending a smug grin over to the guy, of course.
YUKIMIYA KENYU
you weren't even together, so he shouldn't be bothered that you would get attention.
he's not even your boyfriend. what gives yukimiya the right to be jealous of a girl that isn't even his?
maybe he shouldn't have introduced you to isagi. he seemed to be too comfortable in making you smile and laugh and pisses him off that it's actually working on you.
his exterior showed yukki smiling and chuckling along, but to be honest? he's already plotting on how to push isagi out of the room so he can have you all to himself-
"...you okay?" you asked, staring at him, and he felt surprised. he didn't know why but yukimiya felt his hands clam up and heart speed up at your concern.
"oh, it's nothing. i'm fine." even when he's the farthest from fine. isagi still seemed like he wasn't done talking to you and was just waiting to get your attention back again.
and it's like the heavens shined down upon him because in the next moment, isagi was called into another room, leaving you both alone.
because of your other friend's departure, you were waiting for isagi to get back. and at that second, yukki stilled himself - and hoped to god what he was about to do wouldn't be a regret.
"hey..." yukimiya's voice made you perk up and stare at him curiously. his heart rate picks up again.
"is there something wrong?"
so many things are wrong, i should be the one you're talking to. i'm supposed to be the one who has your attention. keep your eyes on me, please? i'm the only one you should love. i want to be yours.
yet he is unable to say this because isagi comes back inside and pulls you up, holding your hand in his.
so, what gives him the right to be jealous when he's not even yours to begin with?
to add onto this, I will be postponing my angstober posting until late may because I really cannot focus on it :( I may post short and random fics, but events and requests (I have like 2 old ones in my inbox) will have to wait until I feel my motivation come back and my workload lessens, hope you all understand!
with that said, I will go onto a hiatus and all my posts will be on queue :] you can find and talk to me on main though hehe :P
content: jealous rinrin, mutual pining, pre-relationship, "brooding and nonchalant" x "bubbly and silly", friends to lovers, college au
a/n: thought abt this when me and two other friends were walking to another campus lol, also the stops thing im talking abt is kind of like a bus stop? (i dont take a bus home so i dont rlly know what else to call it lol) hope yall enjoy this :3
during a particular rainy day, you find out that you forgot to bring an umbrella. so you stood near the exit of your university's gate and decided to wait until the droplets were no more.
turns out, you also forgot to check the weather for the next few days - only seeing right then that the storm would last until monday, it was friday.
you sighed and debated whether or not you should make a run for it. sure, you'd get wet, have other passengers stare at you and most likely get sick the next day - but you really needed to get home...
"excuse me."
you turn around at the new voice and now, face to face with your friend (and the guy you liked) itoshi rin.
he was wearing those jackets that were water-repellant and had an umbrella covering him from the now light shower.
despite being embarrassed about being an obstruction, you only smiled, took in a large breath and asked something that you wouldn't normally ask-
"-can i walk home with you?"
rin's eyebrow rose, and that's when the realization dawned onto you that - no, you can't walk home together since he lives in the other direction and didn't you just say you needed to commute?
you opened and closed your mouth like a fish, the burning of your cheeks and your sudden proximity doing nothing in calming your heart down.
"...you don't have an umbrella?" rin breaks the silence and you only stare at him, nodding frantically as if to erase the previous scene from his mind.
"y-yeah! i was going to ask if you could walk me until i find a...place to stay until the rain stops." you belatedly realized that your inquiry once again didn't make sense - yet you didn't move to correct yourself, lest you get embarrassed again.
rin surprisingly nods and holds onto your shoulder, you tensed and let the guy lead you outside as he holds the umbrella above both of you.
when rin successfully led you to one of the stops, you thanked him repeatedly to which he glared at you and only requested to "not forget your umbrella next time" before leaving.
and in the following days, forget is what you did.
didn't matter if it was from the scorching sun or heavy rain, you always waited by the university's gate and smiled at rin - he, on the other hand, already knew your tactics but never deterred you, other than scolding you of course.
"rin!" was the first thing he always heard and now looked forward to on the way home. he didn't want to admit to himself that he started to also wait on your presence and enjoyed the company you brought before he dropped you off on your stop.
despite the teasing of his friends, and all of their comments hinting a possible relationship - rin never made a move, just relishing in your presence and never wanting to destroy the newfound routine because of the feelings brewing inside of him.
that all changed when rin was the first one who arrived at the university's gate, you were nowhere to be found. rin debated whether or not he should text or call to ask where you were, but decided against it.
but maybe, he should have called because the next thing he saw made his chest throb painfully.
you were with some other guy, you were laughing together and your eyes were only glued to him. yet the thing that bothered him the most was the guy holding the umbrella above the both of you.
it shouldn't be a big deal to someone like rin, so what if another person was accompanying you to your stop? does he even care that this guy is holding an umbrella and essentially stealing the routine you and him built for weeks?
so no, rin isn't jealous. that's stupid and is so not like him.
"rin, hi! you're still here?" he forgot you were coming to his direction and watched as both you and the guy stared at rin who blocked the exit.
rin didn't want you to know that he was waiting for you like always, he didn't want to tell you that he was supposed to be the one walking with you to your stop.
but he keeps all the words to himself and only nods, "i'll be leaving soon, how about you?"
you say that one of the guys from your major offered to go home with you since your stop is technically the same. this prompts a weird feeling to bubble in rin's stomach yet he ignores it just to tell you goodbye.
a few days after that encounter, rin continued to not wait for you outside and this left you wondering if anything you did ticked him off.
though after rin's week full on ignoring you, you finally cornered him before he left the gate. "hey!"
your voice lightened rin's mood a bit before he remembered why he was ignoring you, but it was too late since your arms were around his waist and hugging, as to stop his movements.
rin wondered when he stopped flinching whenever you initiated skinship, or when he stopped feeling the need to scold you. rin didn't know when the feeling of your skin made him feel nice...too normal...too right.
"hmph, i don't like that you're not offering your umbrella to me anymore." you start, your face buried in his back.
the sensation made rin feel warm, and he's secretly hoping you stayed where you couldn't see him, as to not show the burning of his cheeks.
"i also don't like that you're ignoring me and not telling me why..." you finished and walked until you were facing him. this isn't what rin wanted because at this position, you could clearly see the blush adorning your friend's face.
"you don't need to know that..." he huffed, rolling his eyes. trying to swallow the embarassment that came with you confronting his actions.
"but i do! it's pretty fun walking with you rinnie." the nickname made his eyes go wide and he glared at you, though both of you knew it lacked the burn it should have.
"didn't you say you already had someone you were going home with?" rin remembered the face of the guy you went home with. the bitter feelings resurfacing even when he didn't want it to.
"ah...yeah about that, we do walk home most days but he always came home late. besides! walking with you is much more fun." you confessed and smiled at him. rin didn't want to admit it, but your words soothed the voices in his head.
and despite his continuous reluctance, the feelings he was trying to avoid was well on its way to finding their way to you.
content: "asks silly questions x goes along with it" dynamic, they're so inlove your honor, ONE suggestive remark, mostly crack
a/n: when i first saw his card, i sat there for a minute trying to figure out what the hell he's doing so...this is why this fic came to be. despite rui being being my n1 fav along with emu,,, i made this a bit silly and not as romantic as akito's lol. regardless, hope yall enjoy reading!
"...what pose were you doing in the picture?" was a very normal question you asked to your boyfriend, rui.
rui, who was busy looking over a script for their troupes' next show, stared at you in confusion.
"what pose are we talking about?" he entertains this after staring at you for a while. he watched as you replicated an exaggerated flying kiss.
the action, although goofy, made his heart beat wildly against his chest. "hm, are we playing charades?"
your eyebrows scrunched, pouting in his direction. "well it's all your fault then! it looked confusing...like what were you even doing?"
"were you trying to give a camera a kiss, or ask the audience if they wanted to take ibuprofen together?" the absurdity of your question made rui sputter out a laugh.
the sound of his laugh resonated in your being and you couldn't help the grin decorating your lips.
"since my biggest fan is confused, why don't i show it to them?"
after that smug statement, a pillow was promptly thrown in rui's direction.
shinonome akito x reader (established relationship)
content: flustered akito, swooning reader, teasing, everyone's too in love help ^^;
a/n: based on this relatable fanart, and ofc my realest reaction to ofc the card itself. am planning on doing short fics like this for the other three :] also sorry to not posting again, uni is taking up my time haha.
seeing akito dressed up in clothes that only idols would wear, charming smile on his face and holding up half a finger heart - your heart couldn't stop beating in your chest.
it was one of the pictures that toya sent to you in one of their most recent photoshoot, you couldn't thank the two toned boy enough from the feast that welcomed your eyes.
when you both meet each other at a cafe, you can't help but squeal, "akito!!" before embracing him tightly - your boyfriend chuckled, confused on your behavior.
"...did i do something?" he asked, staring at your sparkling face. his question was quickly answered when you shove your phone to his face.
his face flustered, eyebrows scrunching. "where did you get that?"
despite his mortification, you ignore it from how excited you got. "i can't believe you didn't tell me about this! you looked so handsome." your face had an obvious lovestruck expression that had akito's chest bumping loudly.
"you didn't need to know about it...besides the other three did it too." and by other three, he meant the other members of the "fantasista squad" (as tsukasa called them).
when your eyes met his, you swooned, and your cheeks started glowing. "you just can't do that - you were so handsome, i got scared other girls would steal you away from me." you pouted, whining.
"ha?" your comments were pretty much nonsensical, yet all of them were swiftly directed into his heart.
"give me a warning next time, okay pretty boy?" you warned, cheeks still hot but your eyes conveyed an awestruck shine.
a/n: new year, new angst! happy new year to everyone :3 and thank you for 500+ of you ;_; im so grateful hehe
unread messages, missed calls.
that was always the norm with michael kaiser
but of course, you were understanding, so you leave him be.
you knew he was busy with practice, he always was. when you asked if that's what he only did for twenty four hours, you were leveled with a blank glare.
you never asked after that.
but it was only an hour before the new year, an hour before the clock struck twelve.
kaiser was nice enough to invite you to bastard münchen's new year party, yet what use was it when he wasn't even here?
while entertaining some of his teammates and their plus one, they even asked where your lover was - unfortunately, you were unable to supply a proper enough answer, only offering a polite smile in return.
you felt sick in the joyous atmosphere.
there were pops, laughter, kissing and lights that was too much to take in.
maybe you should have stayed home.
you checked your phone again, to find nothing but what did you expect anyway?
that michael kaiser would apologize for not showing up? for being late? have the audacity even when he was the reason you were even in here?
you were trying to be positive, you shouldn't blame your boyfriend - you wouldn't understand his reasons anyway.
you grabbed a flute of champagne from one of the waiters passing it around, you gulped it down in one go. the sting becoming pleasurable in your hurt and confused state.
in your brewing madness, you even thought to bring one of his teammates to bed - that would show him. but it was stupid and so you didn't.
you check your phone again...nothing.
does kaiser think you're fucking naive?
you didn't even notice the tears that started to fall on your cheeks, the swarm of colorful disco lights frame your face like the mess it was.
you were thankful that nobody was able to discern your hurt. nobody should know how much michael kaiser hurt you tonight. it would ruin his pristine record - wouldn't it?
the harsh rubs of your face ruin the beautifully crafted makeup you worked hours to perfect. you at least wanted to look pretty for the man you loved.
but was it really worth it when kaiser couldn't even look your way?
what was kaiser's reason of needing your love anyway?
what was the need of this relationship when all the love came from you anyways?
a distant shout came to snap you out of your miserable reverie. it's almost time for the new year! they shouted.
you closed your eyes, the headache starting to form around your mind. the music, the screams and the jumps move around you like a mesmerizing kaleidoscope.
yet you paid them no mind, slowly walking to the opposite direction of where everyone yearned to go.
as the patrons screamed the numbers, it was like you were shedding skin.
new year, new me! you hear one of them say and maybe, maybe you should try it too.
as you exit out of the suffocating building, it was like you escaped from a neverending pathway.
the fireworks never looked so beautiful...when you felt so free.
with the music thrumming on the inside and the celebrations ongoing, you smiled genuinely for the first time tonight.
maybe it was time to try being just...you.
the fireworks popped and spread in the sky like paintbrushes being splattered on the canvas.
it was noisy, so noisy.
michael kaiser arrived at the party minutes after you left.
he had brought a small bouquet, an apology for...everything.
yet he knew one gift would not solve all of his shortcomings, so kaiser decided he would start with this and work his way to the top.
but when he scanned the party, you were nowhere to be seen.
when he tried calling you, your voice didn't welcome him.
and kaiser despite the noise, even with the bright atmosphere...felt much emptier than before.
i might not know, but again, I end up only thinking of you, girl
characters: itoshi rin, michael kaiser, oliver aiku, yukimiya kenyu x fem! reader (separate)
synopsis: you're the only one who makes them feel this way.

ITOSHI RIN
it was usually you who got jealous, not him.
he never minded how others treated him or you, rin never cared when girls threw themselves at him because you're the only one that occupied his every waking dream.
so no, rin admits he's never felt jealous in his life.
well, that was until today.
this was a rare time during your finals week - rin wanted to take you out on a date, to unwind and relax before the whirlwind of exams and projects take you along.
when rin entered the room you said you were in - he didn't expect the sight he had to take in.
you were dancing with an unfamiliar man, both of you looking awfully close - and the expression you had on your face made rin's stomach turn.
there was music also, a jingle of some sort that hurts his ears. he's visibly irritated now, he wanted to rip you away from the man even if that would cause a scene.
the feelings that brewed inside of him were indescribable but it made rin sick, he wanted to hit something- wanted to whisk you away to somewhere he could hide you.
despite the confusion with what he felt, he stalked closer to where you were still dancing with that other man.
when the music stops and your eyes meet rin's, you easily slip out of the man's grasp and go to hug your boyfriend.
he ignores the feeling of satisfaction that creeps inside of him when your arms secure itself around his nape.
"is there something wrong?"
so many things are wrong, i should be the one you're talking to. i'm supposed to be the one who has your attention. keep your eyes on me, please? i'm the only one you should love. i want to be yours.
yet he is unable to say this because isagi comes back inside and pulls you up, holding your hand in his.
so, what gives him the right to be jealous when he's not even yours to begin with?
content: SWEET BF RIN ALERT, kisses, cuddles, how rin's routine changed when he's with you. lowercase intended.
a/n: yeah yeah SIMP, this comes from the idea "what if rin has someone that disrupted/changes his routine?" ive made this kind of silly, and based some of the stuff here from my own quirks! so vry self-indulgent. hope yall enjoy!
rin is a very disciplined person.
he has a set routine every morning, and with that set in place, he's sure to have a smooth-sailing day.
he wakes up, goes straight to his windows to let some fresh air in, he takes deep breaths, does his daily yoga and stretching and revisits the less than savory memories.
rin imagined he would be the doing the same thing over and over until the day he died.
until you.
every morning, instead of opening the windows like he usually did - rin only stares at you and smiles to himself. neither does he sit then stand up, in fear of jostling your body cuddled against his.
your warmth was too tempting and the face you were making was something he didn't mind drowning in. and if you were to hear that, you might start teasing him and he wouldn't want that.
the ending is predictable: you both oversleep. but he doesn't mind one bit when he feels your kisses around his face.
when you find out about that new habit of his, you scolded him. rin raised an eyebrow at your protest, "don't act like you dont like it though."
that gets you to shut up.
one of the few things he picked up from you though was how you liked your coffee, it was maybe on the sweet side (he worries it might be too much for you yet when he sees your satisfied face, he thinks he'll continue doing it regardless)
or when you start watching jeopardy on your free time and sometimes blurt out the answers like the contestants. rin scoffs when you beam with pride whenever you get a correct answer.
though imagine your surprise when rin was the one to list off the answer and gets it correct - he stares at you like it was a weird thing to do, "what so now i can't do it too?" (you can hear the teasing tones in his voice and it makes your stomach flutter in joy)
when he gets takeout from outside and sees you staring at it like you haven't eaten, rin automatically gives you his food and you only stare at him in shock. most times when you try to resist or even reject the food (who rejects free food even?) he forces the food into your mouth carefully.
like that one time when you were staring at the fries he was quietly eating, he catches your dazed expression - you looked as if you were drooling at that point. what he did next was, he pokes one of the fries on the seam of your lips.
the salt invades your senses, you open your mouth to complain before he puts the savory treat in your mouth (thankfully you don't choke.)
if he's an early bird, then you're the night owl, (maybe that's why he loves you :3) when you're absolutely swamped with requirements - you'd stay up and go to another room as to not disturb rin's sleep. he'd mumble and try to get you stay, yet you only place kisses all over to placate the man you love.
when rin wakes up and feels you aren't against him - he groggily gets up and spots you slouched against the study table. he won't wake you and just carry you back to bed.
you have somewhat of an imaginative mind, and so his ears won't catch a break once you start talking about things that are your interests. he makes sure he listens, even when watching some past soccer matches of his. rin doesn't want you to feel discouraged so feel free to yap! he sometimes goes off on a tangent about his favorite things too! so you both are just talking in turns (when some of his friends find out about this side of rin, they're like what the..?)
you're also aware he gets too inside of his head. you sometimes observe him meditating and having that scrunched expression on his face. and so every morning, whether or not you spot him doing the same thing, you'd tell rin you love him and hug him a bit tighter - you're rewarded by his surprised face and then a gentle smile, and of course the affectionate "idiot" rolling off his lips.
so, you know - he's very glad you invaded his somewhat repetitive and mundane routine. even if he won't admit it anytime soon.

SUNDAY
Sunday made it a routine to check his recent messages.
Ever since his descent to the Astral Express, all of its members had welcomed him with open arms, despite his worries that they might not receive him well.
It also had been a few months since the Charmony Festival disaster, a sore topic for himself and those on the train. The memories of his deeds persisted through his dreams, and even if members like Stelle or March comforted him - his past wrapped itself up like thorns that pricked his body.
Becoming part of the Express meant leaving behind his responsibilities as the Oak Family’s head. Sunday’s identity as one of the overseers became nothing more than a bitter and distant memory.
The first few weeks were the worst. When one of the Ten Stonehearts infiltrated his prison and presented a deal, he was uninterested at first. Yet when it was revealed that he had the chance to see his darling sister and…you, he had battled himself on whether or not he deserved the chance to do so. In the end, another side of his rationality won and he didn’t go through with it - despite becoming a free man once again.
During the altercation between him and the Express members, he vaguely remembered seeing his lovely sister - having her in his embrace felt like heaven. Sunday was glad she was safe, and she had looked at him as if he did nothing wrong.
The memories before his fall felt too sweet, and he was…happy. Overjoyed even, that he was able to see Robin before he disappeared from her life.
But that wasn’t the case for you.
He hadn’t seen you even before the Penacony Disaster. Both of you were so busy in managing your respective affairs that talking and just being in each other’s presence was a hard thing to come by.
Sunday remembered a promise made inside the Dewlight Pavilion, that after the Charmony Festival - he would whisk you away to another planet, to rest and bask in each other’s love.
He gripped his phone tighter, the memory of that moment plagued his mind. Like a pest to a newly grown garden, something that would remind Sunday of the “never have been.”
When Penacony was shrouded in Ena’s dream, he was able to glimpse inside your perfect reality. It was serene, it was pure white and his heart soared when he saw a familiar veil and gown gracing your figure.
In that dream, both of you had kissed one another in private affairs where no one knew your names. Where you were only you - not one of Iris Family's starlight - and he was only Sunday - not the Oak Family’s head.
Even before the plan was executed, he wanted to see you one last time. Willing to provide protection for your wellbeing, yet Gopher Wood had lectured him. Told him you didn't deserve to stand beside him, that your presence would indoctrinate his ideals and destroy the future of Penacony.
He whispered a silent prayer and apology your way, hoping that sufficed for the pain that would come your way soon enough.
There was a knock on his door and he jumped a bit, he called out for them to come in as to not be rude - and Himeko, the navigator of the Express entered.
She had this gentle smile on her face, like a mother would wear in front of her young children and Sunday felt comforted in that fact.
“Are you doing okay?” She asked, standing in front of him - observing the barren room that the Halovian inhabited.
He only nods, momentarily confused as to why the question was the conversation starter. Then he realized why, of course he did.
The Express had stopped once more in the Planet of Festivities, before they warp jumped to a different planet. The Land of Dreams' familiar silhouette burned against his vision, and he avoided it - lest the nightmare continued to ravage him.
He caught sight of his phone again, and let his eyes linger on a certain string of numbers. Its cognizance made his fingers twitch at the reminder that no matter what, nobody would answer.
When things had finally settled in Penacony, he originally wanted to check up on you, but was advised against it. The likelihood of seeing his face again might trigger various unprecedented reactions.
“Do you want to see her again? If you'd like, we can arrange for you both to meet here-”
“Though I appreciate the sentiment, it isn't needed. But thank you so much, Ms. Himeko.” Sunday tried to give a proper smile, swallowing down the discomfort coming up his esophagus.
His inner thoughts clashed and battled inside his mind, he wanted to see you again and apologize. Yet he was afraid, what if instead of your lover - you see the monster that orchestrated the disaster that almost killed you?
Sunday, in his desperation, had messaged your number the following days after the Charmony Festival. Yet all of them were never opened, maybe seeing his name pop up on your phone manifested a fear you never knew you had.
Himeko nodded and left his room right after his response. The Halovian felt relief at being alone once more but he just couldn't let his phone go.
He grabbed it and typed out another message, another variation of I'm sorry and can we talk? filled his text box.
At this point, all he wished for was acknowledgement. That you still remembered him even with his flaws and wrongs. That you would understand that he only wanted the best for you…and for the planet he resided.
Yet he remained ignorant of the what-ifs and sent another message your way.
You can no longer send messages to this user was the notification that greeted him back.
This solidified that you were in fact, never coming back to him.
JINGYUAN
Jingyuan had lived many centuries on the Luofu, and the general had welcomed each year with you in his arms.
It was only one instance that you had to leave and go to another Xianzhou ship, offering a deceptively bright smile before disappearing out of his life.
Your conversations were never ending, always updated with one another. The love of your life may be far away, but with the way he was sharing the happenings about his day? It felt like you never left.
The Xianzhou Yuque was your home as a small child, and a part of you felt soothed to be back on familiar grounds. Yet the pain of missing your lover infested your brain, almost pushing you to take the earliest star skiff and booking it back to the arms of your snowy-haired lover.
You hissed, your surroundings growing blurry once more. Whenever you had thought of Jingyuan, the persistent pain in your body argued against you. Believing it to be a common cold, you brushed it off and thought to take vitamins to remove that nagging off your conscience.
As a long-life species, you surprisingly didn’t get sick often. Here or there, you would be coughing or sneezing - but it was always an allergy or a seasonal fever. Living with the general, sickness never afflicted your form because of how observant and attuned he is to the condition of your body.
But recently, in his presence, you’ve been getting bodily pains and stronger headaches. And since you were so used to Jingyuan catching onto your status before yourself, you learned to hide it.
Becoming discreet with someone as attentive as the General of the Luofu was a difficult task in of itself, so you decided - amongst other reasons - to go back into the Yuque.
As days went by, the pain never disappeared and was a constant companion to your chagrin. Hopefully, the healers are able to indicate what the hell had been happening in your body. Yet as you walked inside the clinic, a sense of foreboding pulsed in your veins. Fear overtaking your senses as you see the familiar healer welcome you inside.
What was supposed to be a normal checkup turned into one of your biggest fears. The healer had frowned, their voice quiet as they said your conditions aligned those afflicted with Mara. But you couldn’t understand, it was far too early for it to manifest in your body…before you knew it, your tears had spilled over your cheeks - the revelation was too heavy on your mind.
Chuhua, the healer lady was kind enough to supply your person with tissues and a soothing hand on your shoulder. A few minutes of silence later and she speaks once more, “Shall I tell the General?”
At the mention of your lover, your body turns rigid and another realization hits you.
Jingyuan, who had been living far longer than you had, who had experienced firsthand how Mara took the lives of not one, but three important people in his life. Who, despite living through all this pain and suffering did not show symptoms of the sickness himself.
You didn’t know he was able to deter the effects of Mara, but you’d be damned if you reveal this information to him. Keeping this would be selfish on your part yet you never wanted to hurt the man who makes you happy no matter what.
After a painstaking process of trying to make yourself presentable enough, you go back to The Luofu a month later.
Jingyuan had welcomed you with a warm hug and long kiss that made your heart soar, despite the few weeks of turmoil and stress you’ve been under - he was still powerful enough over you to remove the burdens within.
“Did you need me for something, my love?” You asked after arriving back into the familiar private quarters of the General.
He stared at you for a bit before chuckling, “Oh? Weren’t you the one who said you’d be back a month later?”
Your eyes continued to stare at him, confusion lining your features. You really didn’t know?
Not long after though, you seem to snap out of this trance and smile nervously in his direction.
“Oh, I did say that.” You laughed.
That should have been Jingyuan’s first sign, you were never one to forget things like this. But as always, he brushed it off as insignificant and approached your bumbling figure with another sweet kiss.
The next instance was where he started forming suspicions about what’s happening with you.
You were both outside his home, drinking tea under the large Ginkgo Tree in his yard. You were playing Starchess when Jingyuan mentioned a childhood memory he remembered you telling him.
“What? That didn’t happen.” You scoffed, sipping tea while staring at your lover incredulously.
He raised an eyebrow, “Come on, you don’t have to be embarrassed about it. That happened a long time ago.” He chuckled once more while moving one of his pieces forward.
But your expression doesn’t change to one of humor, instead it tightens.
“I’m serious Jingyuan. I never sprained my ankle.” The atmosphere between you both became uncomfortable, only breaking when you placed another piece forward to checkmate.
What truly revealed your condition happened on the day of your birthday.
Your lover was truly excited to gather some of his and your friends, he had arranged so much for this and hopefully you’d appreciate it as well. You both had been in murky waters recently, so this little gathering was an apology of some sorts.
When you enter your home, you’re surprised to see everyone greeting you with a happy birthday! You felt confused on the inside yet kept it to yourself, thanking everyone around you before pulling Jingyuan aside.
“...it’s not my birthday…it’s still a few months away, my love.” You say staring at him, and that tipped him off. You seem jittery and scared behind your calm expression and he wanted to unravel what had been causing your unrest.
It was unlike you to forget important occasions like your birthday. Hell, you always scolded Jingyuan when he's the one forgetting things like these.
It was the calm before the storm, your face contorted into fear, to sadness and then your eyes found him again, and you smiled - placing a trembling hand over his cheek.
Hearing the devastating news made his knees buckle, grip tight and voice shaking, “Why didn’t you tell me sooner?” Of course Jingyuan knew the answer to that. He, who experienced the gruesome aftermath of Mara to his closest confidants, how it destroyed him inside to not know any type of medicine to heal their pain.
“I’m sorry…” You cried, holding his body against yours - knowing what came next, and cherishing the warmth your lover had to give you.
Because you both knew that you’d never get to do this after succumbing to the sickness.
He was grateful that Reignbow Arbiter was able to grant him a little more time with you, maybe the events leading up to this one was the world telling him to make your time worthwhile while you were still breathing, loving him. “You don’t have to apologize and cry those tears okay? You’ll be okay, I’ll be okay, We’ll be okay.”
In the days leading up to your last breath, Jingyuan tried his best to soothe the consequential swelling of the Mara. His caresses and soft breathes accompanied yours in a dance of solemnity.
Then, as you were sitting underneath the Ginkgo Tree, Jingyuan held you in his arms just like old times - he was telling a story of what Yanqing had been up to during your absence. His attention then beckoned by the soft lilt of your voice.
Your velvety gaze made his heart turn into mush. He realized you looked absolutely divine as you stared at him with a silken smile. Your next words made his lips upturn, “Can you kiss me, my love?”
No words were needed as his head dipped, Jingyuan captured your chapped lips against his - his fingers pressing the apples of your cheeks. And when he had pulled away, he felt your weight jostling onto his own.
Underneath the Ginkgo Tree, you were able to spend your last moments with the love of your life - stealing one last kiss from his lips.
A kiss that ultimately gave him your last breath, and left a piece of you intertwined with his soul.
VERITAS RATIO
Something shifted in the air when Veritas found out you were part of the Genius Society.
You weren’t trying to keep secrets, it just never surfaced whenever both of you made conversation. And he didn’t question why you were so familiar with people like Herta, Ruan Mei or even Screwllum who he was admittedly close to.
He now saw you in a different light, you weren’t just his lover, you were a Genius Society member.
Feelings of doubt and insecurity rose in his system before he could think to stop them.
He had dreams and a hope that someday, he would be in your place. Yet those wishes of his were nothing but a pipe dream, the reality he was in now was filled with jealousy and animosity. He hated to admit it, but becoming aware of how Nous bestowed upon you a pedestal with geniuses, gnawed into his self-esteem.
And soon enough, this new found information became your ultimate ruin.
As a logical individual, Veritas understood that there were things in the natural universe that he could not manipulate or control. No matter how much he calculated, there were still constants he yearned to solve.
Enter you who had turned into an entirely different being once the truth was revealed. And Veritas wondered if never finding out could have saved your relationship.
He prided himself in being calm, rational in many situations. But with you, he became erratic, and vied for your attention constantly. So maybe it wasn't just you who had changed.
At night, questions like were you always like this? circled his mind until he dismissed it as another irrational thought. At the beginning of the relationship, you were both okay, and your dynamic was switched.
Whenever you were swept to another planet for research, Veritas hated how he was left like a desperate house husband, dependent on your every move.
Was it because he was living vicariously through you? Was he willingly hurting his own self just so he could experience what it felt like to be a real genius?
Oh how the mighty have fallen, if his students ever saw their professor having breakdowns over his own relationship and self-worth, they would laugh at his face.
What a joke, why would the famed Dr. Ratio - willingly let himself be stomped over? Isn’t it an insult to his philosophy, to be with someone who keeps their knowledge from the world?
Sometimes when Veritas observes himself in the mirror, he laughs. He looks utterly tired, the toxins from this obsession for your attention must have gotten to him. Even with this knowledge, why couldn't he let go?
Did he stay with you for his own good? Did he even love you? Do you even love him? Have you seen him as an equal to oh so glorious you?
Your kisses felt more like a chore than it is from affection. Yet somehow, Veritas twists it into something more- though when simplified, it really is only out of obligation.
The breaking point became apparent. Your lover expected it to be a large spectacle in your relationship, someone would be on their knees, there would be tears- there would be screaming.
Yet, you once again go beyond his expectations because none of that happened. When the words come out of his mouth, surprise only passes in your expression- until it washes away into nothing.
Out of curiosity - he asked, “Did you even love me?” to which you stared at him and nodded, like it was only an inquiry - an answer to a yes or no question. Maybe it was better if Veritas had kept his mouth shut, if he did, he wouldn’t be trying to keep his tears at bay. Such an embarrassment compared to you, who remained composed - like he was the subject you were trying to identify under a microscope.
Was a Mundanite ever worth something to a Genius?
You accepted the breakup like he had just defended his thesis. And a sinister realization singed his insides, he hoped that wasn't the case…but what if it was?
Were you only ever with him for research purposes? Were your affections for him just a fascination of his species?
But Veritas also didn't have the luxury of ever knowing what was on your mind, because shortly after your split - it was like you were never in his life to begin with.
AVENTURINE
Your relationship wasn't supposed to last as long as it did.
You were supposed to be a temporary fling, a distraction - something that takes the stress off of his mind.
Yet when he feels your fingers carding through his hair, humming an unfamiliar tune. His chest turns warm and he savors the security you give him.
His position and tasks as one of the Ten Stonehearts was no easy feat. It contrasted his day to day with you - and he feels guilty that you didn't know any better. He wanted to hide that ugly side of him, you didn’t deserve to see such darkness and monstrosity when all you’ve been giving him was brightness and love.
“What if none of this was real?” was Aventurine’s sudden inquiry, cutting through the silence that surrounded you both. Most times, you brushed off questions like these - it was either occupying the comforting quiet or just nonsensical inquiries.
Yet your lover’s voice quivered inside his throat and your eyes caught his vulnerable gaze, “What made you ask?” You probe, curious and feeling a shiver invade your senses.
He closed his eyes, sighing at the feeling of your fingers resting on the apple of his cheeks. “It’s nothing, just…” Aventurine trailed off, not knowing how to continue - but you listened, hoping he was able to share what was on his mind.
What happened next was somewhat predictable, his eyes opened - meeting yours. He sat up and hovered his body over yours. Your defenseless and helpless lover is gone, replaced by a hungry and yearning wolf.
With how frequently it happens, your body is used to it. Placing your hands over his chest and your legs creating space that was for him only. The comforting silence was replaced with the need for friction, and an expectant hunger for what’s to come.
In your mind, this came next whenever you tried to open the enigmatic Aventurine, which you doubt was his real name whenever you tread the waters that pried open his real feelings - he flips you over and keeps your mouth shut with his lips on yours.
“Wait…” Breathless, you slightly push his tempting offer away before you get lost in the sea of his multicolored eyes.
His eyebrows raise, warm breath fanning over your flustered expression. He seemed irritated that you interrupted him yet he only stared at you, waiting for your next words. “How about we…don’t do this right now? You look pretty tired.”
“Since when have you cared about that?” A condescending tone warped his voice, and he was right - you never stopped him from getting his way, only letting your body do the talk. But you were stunned, and frankly agonized. When you don’t respond, Aventurine only scoffs - removing himself from your body and burying his figure onto the sheets.
Your breath staggered, and it’s like the room abruptly ran out of oxygen because it became harder to breathe in. Your surroundings began spinning, and the moonlight spilling through the curtains blinded you.
You were brought back to reality when your eyes captured his relaxed body. Aventurine shone like the gem he was named after, Elysian with the way his chest rises steadily, out of this world like the stars glittering against the night sky.
The man before you knew everything and anything that had to do with you. While Aventurine remained a close book in your life, you never understood why he never ended what you had if he couldn't give you what you needed.
Your fingers brushed against his cheek, exposed neck and closed eyelids. Your lips hovered against each of these spots, trying to convey what you couldn't say. He responded by breathing deeply once more, the sensation of his warm breaths convincing you that he is real, that Aventurine was the one next to you.
Then your fingers continued its descent to his thrumming heartbeat, his shirt the only obstacle to fully experience the beating of his chest. And so, with no fear of him waking up and seeing you - your body laid against his. This was the first time you ever felt Aventurine without the haze of pleasure, no silken words or scandalous touches - just…the man you loved.
The sensation of being so close to him soothed the thoughts throbbing inside your brain. Like the calm before the storm, you fell into the deceptive serenity that your bedroom provided.
A few hours later, when the sun started to rise - Aventurine had woken up and felt your warm body closely cuddled against him. His heart pounded against his chest, cheeks flaring up from your proximity (despite seeing all of you multiple times already) You looked serene, mouth letting out cute snores with drool dribbling on the side of your lips.
It was like Gaiathra Triclops herself blessed a desolate soul like himself. The more his gaze stuck onto your figure, the more it felt like it wasn’t real at all. His body pressed closer to yours - irises hovering your precious face, as if he was memorizing every flaw and imperfection. A sinner like him couldn’t believe he was able to savor your touch and taste the saccharine sweet of your lips.
As his fingers smoothed over your skin, an electric current passed through him. At that moment, he realized how far gone he was with you - he was utterly terrified that if you woke up at any second, he would follow your every whim. When your eyes meet his, he would apologize for every transgression he committed against you.
In a trance, Kakavasha opens himself up to you. You, who was blissfully unaware of how the man you loved bared every fear, weakness and worry he had. How he was speaking in a tongue that was now unknown. In a way, it was like Aventurine entered a fantastical world, where you would accept him for who he is and everything he did after had no repercussions.
When a sharp ring slices through the quiet, his eyes widen - hands retracting from where it had been on your body. Snapping out of the reverie, Aventurine is quick to grab his phone, quickly clearing his throat and switching back into a Stoneheart.
Aventurine wouldn't be able to see you wake up and pat the sheets to look for his body. He wouldn’t be able to witness your groggy voice and sleepy eyes asking him to stay. He wouldn’t be able to kiss you senseless, ignoring your protests of how you needed to wash your face or brush your teeth.
Kakavasha wouldn’t be able to tell you he loved you, adored you more than himself.
Your relationship wasn't supposed to last as long as it did.
Aventurine wouldn’t be able to see your confusion turn into anger and then finally sadness. He feared that he wouldn’t be able to step out of that door when he took sight of the tears framing your face. Kakavasha knew he was weak and therefore would ignore everything if it meant staying by your side.
And he was glad he left before you woke up.
You were never supposed to be a temporary fling, something that takes the stress off of his mind. But Aventurine had too many sins weighing him down - and you were the purest soul that he had ever laid his eyes on.
So maybe, it was better that he left his life behind, you behind.
