Can I ask about the post-apocalypse AU? I'm curious what your co-writing process is like, whether you guys are planners or pantsers, how you divide up the writing/editing etc... stuff like that. Do you have any idea how long it will be? Do you guys use a beta? How did the idea find you? Without spoilers, what are you most excited about writing?
ahhhhhhh thanks for this ask!! I’M SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS STORY!
1) we use a pretty good mix of planning vs. freestyling. we have a rough outline of major events, but it’s open to change. and the details of individual chapters always kind of come spur-of-the-moment. also @lisa-in-the-sky is a gift and i LOOVEEE writing with her <3
2) we don’t have any kind of organization to divide up the “workload.” we use google docs, and basically it starts with one of us sharing a doc and saying “look i did a thing! make it better pls!” at that point, it’s usually a few hundred words, and then we each add/tweak/edit as we go until it’s a coherent chunk of plot. (once we were online at the same time and watched each other type in real time which was WILD and scary and super inspiring, hopefully someday we can make that happen again<3)
(if we were getting paid or some shit, i would personally do a better job of getting her certain AMOUNTS of content, and maybe even setting goals per day/week, or using deadlines. but i still wouldnt be the type of person to “assign” specific parts of the story to her or myself.) (as it is we’re both in school so it all depends on our nonexistent free time lol)
3) i don’t know how long it will be. we’re at 10k now, so considering that, and looking at our outline, my very very very rough estimate might be 80k? but ciela might be picturing different?
4) i never use a beta but ciela regularly does, so that person has also beta’d a lot of ZS. which is great <3
5) the idea didn’t come from anything specific. one day i just imagined 'what if the captain america plot began in the present day?’ and i made a post about it on tumblr and ciela was like “LET’S DO IT.” ;) and then we spent months just talking about the endless possibilities, and what kind of twisted things the governmnet would do over the next 300 years, what kind of horrible things would happen to the winter soldier, how to make all the avengers futuristic.
6) the thing i am hands-down the most excited about is the Plot Twist, so like. sorry about that.
otherwise, i’m excited about the part where (spoiler alert) they LEAVE THE CITY! ;) ;) ;) and i’m soooooo excited about the part where Sam Steps Up. @lisa-in-the-sky what part are you most excited about??????
