This blog is serving to keep me sane and healthy in the times we’re in today. I can’t control a pandemic, but I can most certainally control how much waste I create. Unfortunately, this is all I can do for now. so follow my journey as I try to bring zero waste to small town, USA.
So what does one appropriately, or not so appropriately, post on Black Friday?? Well, if you are striving to be sustainable, you avoid the whole consumption model and make do with what you have. Pause and reflect. So, in the spirit of my post-cloth-diapering baby days, tonight I finished making this set of feminine hygiene cloth pads. Oh-so-comfy and reusable, too. Sorry for any discomfort this post causes. Still, don’t you agree that the switch away from ugly single use items begs for greater conversations and options? I kinda think some of these are a tad pretty, don’t you think? Oh, well... May the spirit of the season reign higher along with taking care of our sweet and wonderfully giving planet.

Caroline Selle, who joined the C.C. Global team May 4, knows her way around the environmental sector. Not only does Selle have experience at major climate organizations, she also knows the bread and butter of advocacy work from social campaigns to journalism. Most importantly, Selle is taking her individual climate impact to the next level – reducing her impact.
Find her tips + tricks + quips at zerowastegirl.com where she has "set out to prove to [herself] (and others) that it's possible to drastically reduce consumption while still remaining part of the 21st century." You can also follow her experience on Twitter @zerowastegirl and on Facebook at Zero Waste Girl. C.C. Global is proud to have such a role model on our team!
Selle attended St. Mary's College of Maryland where she studied environmental outreach and communications. At We Are Power Shift (wearepowershift.org), Selle learned how to mobilize and make positive change through "organizing, finding solutions, developing concrete steps of action." Working at Power Shift was proof to Selle that she is in the right sector.
"Climate change is the intersection of many things – race, gender, environment, policy," she said.
At the end of the day, Selle wants to see people happy and admittedly frames her personal zero waste journey as an experiment to inspire others...and most importantly, amuse them.
"I want to hear a person's story. In the future, I want to be a vehicle for others," Selle said.
