Hey just out of curiosity what does zeynel's name mean and where does it come from? Thank you, have a great day!

Muhammad Zainal Abidin is an awfully common name in Malaysia (where I am from). Since Zeynel is Turkish, his name has to be in the Turkish form, so it’s become Mehmed Zeynel Abidin. I picked that name because it’s got a nice sounding balance of consonants and softness which suited his friendly neighbourhood vampire personality (well, that was 15 Year Old Me’s reasoning anyway).

As to what it means, Mehmed = praiseworthy, Zeynel = beauty, grace, Abidin = worshipper. Put together it means ‘Praiseworthy beautiful/graceful worshipper’. It’s a really gorgeous name that I think Zeynel has grown into quite well as his character developed.

Edit: His surname, deCordoba, is Spanish! He’s half-Andalusian, and the surname indicates the origin of his paternal family, which was Cordoba.

Metsonas, but for my OCs. The men’s game at the gala was so weak it was almost non-existent!

Ilias: I don’t recall any male celeb taking on an angelic look, so here is mine. Jewelled thorn crown, elaborate feathered cape held in place by two eye lapel pins and a gold chain, a long coat with fire trim, kinda priest-esque.

Alfie: Vague saint look, hence the saint of X, but it’s also a pun on sex, so well, it’s a pretty genderqueer look. Soft red gradient eyeshadow, eyeliner, drawn tears of blood, bejeweled heart pasty, halo cap, heart tattoo stigmata (both sides of the palm), red nails, feathered boots (perhaps glittered).

Zeynel: The aesthetic of the gala was very catholic and Zeynel CANNOT wear that (NO NO NO). So I based his outfit off his Andalusian heritage instead, with an Ottoman twist (which fits the prompt anyway, if you know about Andalusian religious history). The pattern/colours are from the Mosque of Cordoba.

I saw this in the shops today and OF COURSE my sweet boy has gotta have one!! What delights me a lot is that this is basically the modern, updated analogue of his old look from his original time and place (17th century Istanbul). The OP Ottoman geek chic.

For those of y’all not in the know (I hardly advertise myself as a comics creator), I’ve a webcomic called The Carpet Merchant of Konstantiniyya. It’s a two volume story, and the first volume is COMPLETE AND FREE TO READ. It’s about a carpet merchant, and his relationship with faith, love and home in the aftermath of his death by a vampire. The first volume is set in 17th century Istanbul, it’s a historical romance with Gothic elements, and the two protags are Muslim. I don’t ever draw like this but I was listening to some lectures to revise my exams and this is like, the equivalent of all those mindless doodles on the table that unfortunately look too good to be erased (luckily this is in PS and I can keep them).
