The Rising World clothing descriptions
Re-reading Queen Demon and Witch King and trying to take note of clothing descriptions as I encounter them, for my own (and anyone else who would like) ( @queerasaurolophus ) fanart-making and fic-writing purposes. I'll add more as I keep reading!
Kai - past
- silk arike women's clothes (the hostage courts, pre-Talamines)
- all black, skirt, gold sandals (the hostage courts post-Talamines)
- long tunic and loose leggings "of cotton and grass-silk, sun-faded rust or or brown-green, pale yellows and tans, colors that faded into the landscape" (Queen Demon - also used to describe the Arike soldier's clothes), with a split-skirt and black embroidered expositor's coat, and hair pulled back by emerald pins:

- when summoning the pillar of fire he's got this outfit without the coat, and when attacking the fort at Descar-Arik he's wearing a brown coat instead (but puts the black embroidered one back on afterwards)
Kai - present
- blue cotton shift, overcoat, and split skirts with minimal floral embroidery on the hems, belt and sash (Queen Demon, the cloisters)
Tahren
- tunic, tabard, long pants (in the past/hostage courts
- haven't noticed many descriptions of her clothes in Queen Demon, but she must have some gray coats/scarves because she keeps loaning them to Ziede (past)
Ziede
- red and brown patterned long sleeved tunic, wide pants tied at the ankles, and tabard with a gold sun painted on her forehead (hostage courts)
- Tahren's gray coats and scarves (Ziede wears the scarves around her hair) (Queen Demon, past)
Bashasa
- "blue and gold brocaded coat" (hostage courts, passed to kai later)
- "white finery" (hostage courts (?) and the attack on Benai-Arik)
- sturdy brown and faded red clothes, "long shirt and skirt under a coat embroidered in shades of browns and yellows." (Queen Demon)
Bashat
- formal traditional arike menswear, in black silk with red and gold embroidery (Queen Demon)
Sanja
- silk wrap tunic with beaded hems and large cotton pants (Queen Demon, the cloisters)
