Broken AU is terrible, and here's why.

Content Warnings: Talks of Genocide and mass murder of adult and child moons.

Why is the fandom so willing Jupiter and Saturn to massacre their moons for Earth? Why do something so deliberate and cruel?

What The Moons did was awful and disproportionate, but the Gas Giants' responses were way worse. It wasn't an act of passion, blinded by grief, it was conscious and hateful.

Earth would be disgusted if he knew what happened, his redemption would ring so hollow like it didn't matter in the end because he still died after all that hard work and introspection on himself. The Therapy session, the roleplay and all of Mercury's efforts go to waste.

I was annoyed that Neptune was portrayed as uncaring about his moons being killed. It was confirmed Neptune loved his moons, he remembered them all. They were confirmed in canon that they were little children. They knew diddly squat about what was going on.

Can you imagine killing your own Children and the children of your neighbourhood in such fashion after the child you are obsessed with got hurt?

You can't, can you, the mere thought repulses you to your soul.

Saturn never once indicated that he thinks so lowly of Titain, only liking him for THAT reason. It reinforces the idea that moons are toys, and decorations to be played with or destroyed on a whim.

As for Callisto and Io, there is nothing worse than betrayal. To have a planet you orbited around and thought the world of, suddenly turn around and murder you like you meant nothing is betrayal and poor Io was terrified and core broken that Jupiter could do that so easily and with calculated intent.

Callisto was also betrayed and in the horror of what was happening comforted Io so he wouldn't die alone, and scared out of his mind.

What Jupiter and Saturn did was textbook Genocide. I cannot stress that enough.

The deliberate and calculated destruction of every moon with only 4 survivors out of 300 moons is horrific.

All Jupiter and Saturn's actions did was prove Ganymede and Europa correct in how little they matter to the planets.

The moons deserved better.

Good art can't save a bad story.

Loved how The Barbie Movie made it so easy to weed out men who are total trash.

So far the movie has been a litmus test for fragile/insecure masculinity and failure to recognize privilage or recognize that there's other genders on this planet that have deep struggles different from their own that they are both blind to and unwilling to attempt to try to see. And when they say they didnt like the message or it was a little too "woman empowering" I have immidately lost all respect for your opinion as a human being. You may drop dead now.

I sound angry, but that's only because I'm so disappointed that men are still capable of thinking this way. Especially the ones in my orbit.

am i the only one who was rlly weirded out by the huge age gap between bella and jacob.,,,, and like a lot of other characters ?? like paul and rachael (paul is like..,,..,15/16 and rachael is 22) like wtf is up with that lmao it’s hella weird and i reject it as cannon LMAO. it’s even more weird when u think abt it as like,,, bella being lowkey manipulative and using jacob after edward left yikes

1. The only age gaps that messed with me were the imprints on Claire and Renesmee. Paul acts more like an adult and is changing to be what Rachel wants him to be. He can’t help it. Blame meyer.

2. AS FOR BELLA!!! The girl just needed a fucking friend bro. She was depressed. Stop saying that she manipulated him because she just needed someone to fucking be there for her. Someone who didn’t judge, who didn’t know the Cullens that well, someone who has always treated her as the person she was before the Cullens. She wasn’t just ‘Bella’ in her classmates’ eyes. She was ‘the girl who got dumped by Cullen.’ Or ‘Cullen’s girlfriend’ or ‘the girl that was talking with Cullen.’ Basically EVERYONE in her school just saw her as a girl who is associated with the Cullens because they never knew her as ‘Bella Swan.’

She had every right to search out a best friend because her only line of unending support was her father who couldn’t help her the way she needed it. She went from having a boyfriend and best friend who she did EVERYTHING with, to having NO ONE. She finally felt like she BELONGED in a family, something a child of divorce ALWAYS craves (I speak from experience.) She had people willing to die for her, who she’d die for as well. She had big brothers after being a single child for 17 years. She had a mother who was actually nurturing and mature. (Yes I know she loved Renee, but she said it was tiring to be the mother figure between the two of them.)

You don’t think that after a traumatic event where someone you think of as family almost kills you accidentally, she isn’t a little scared? Everyone has abandonment issues. Everyone has had someone or something leave their lives and they couldn’t control it. Bella probably knew it was going to happen, felt it in her soul, but tried to reason that it was a stupid idea. She thought her love was enough, that their love was strong and unbreakable. She believed in them enough to leave her family in a heartbeat when Edward said it was time to move on. ‘I gotta think of a story for charlie.’ She was ready to leave her old life immediately because she loved Edward forever.

All the bonds are severed in one fatal swoop. ‘I don’t love you’ means so much more than he’s breaking up with her. It means no more Edward, no more Alice, no more Cullens. It also implies that if the family was able to move on so easily, they didn’t give a fuck about Bella in the first place. They only stayed with her because Edward liked her for the time being. Thats an explanation a person can come up with and while it might seemed farfetched, BELLA HAD NO ONE TO CONFIRM OR DENY HER THEORY. Everyone cut off communication from her. Like a big ass block button of life without an explanation. The perfect family unit that you revolved your life around, that you so hoped to join, is gone. Now you are alone, no one to comfort you or give any other explanation. You were told that you weren’t enough, you were unloved. This coming from the man who told you that he’d kill himself if you didn’t exist anymore.

That would make Bella think: everything out of his mouth was a fucking lie. Everything about the Cullens was a lie. So she desperately tries to cling onto who the Cullens were, their happy memories together.

She isn’t ready to move on from her hopes and dreams of being a part of their family, but Charlie forces her to go out and do something. She desperately chases the one thing that brings her a ghost of her lost love; adrenaline. She finds motorcycles and starts hanging out with jake while he fixes them.

Oh?

Something feels okay. More okay than she’s been in months. And it’s coming from Jacob. She’s laughing, enjoying herself, no one judges her here and she doesn’t get any pitying stares from Jacob. All she gets is warmth and friendship. Something she hasn’t felt since the cullens left. But this was different. She didn’t feel like she was an outsider. She was beautiful as is, not the ugly duckling of the family. So hanging out with Jake brought her some form of happiness because she actually had a friend who didn’t judge. She’s not looking for a relationship. She’s not hinting for more. She’s just looking for a FRIEND.

Bella knew he liked her, but still told him no because all she wanted and needed at the moment was a friend. HE WAS THE ONE WHO PUSHED HIMSELF ON HER. HE THREATENED TO LEAVE HER, SOMEONE WHO NOW HAS EVEN MORE ABANDONMENT ISSUES, IF SHE DIDNT HURRY UP AND GET OVER EDWARD.

Don’t you fucking dare blame Bella for what post-change Jacob Black did. 

The emotional manipulator was Jacob, his victim was Bella. He is the epitome of ‘Nice Guy™’ scumbags who believed they deserved some ass after being a decent fucking person and comforting a broken friend. Jacob Black is a fucking asshole.

And in my opinion, the fact that people call Bella a slut or manipulative because she was searching for friendship... as you so eloquently put it...

When someone comments ‘wish you had finished this’ on a fic... but doesn’t say anything else, doesn’t subscribe, doesn’t even hit that kudos button... like, you’re part of the problem. A lot of fanfic writers experience burnout because they don’t get the feedback or love from their readers that they need to continue.

It’s so discouraging, to look at stat breakdowns and to see the lack of engagement, even just comparing those numbers to engagement for... fanart, etc.

Anyway, I’ve mostly stepped away from fanfic because I’m focusing on my own original writing, and comments like this just solidify that I’ve made the right decision, even if the payoff is much slower, I’d rather write a short story that literally no one ever reads than write a fanfic that people read but can’t be bothered to even hit that kudos button for and then complain when you haven’t written more.

Am I done writing fanfic entirely? No, not at all. Am I interested in writing fic right not? ...not really, no.

Was looking through my copy of summarised Greek myths and when I come to the one about Orpheus and Eurydice…. I absolutely adore the illustration there, it’s absolutely stunning, I’ve been looking at it for a while now and thought it should be shared
