"Models for the Game" for Warhammer 40000: Rogue Trader, available at first launch in 1987 as pictured in the rule book, including Slaan, Zoat, and Imperial battle droid, with Squats, Eldar, and Orks, space marines of the Silverskull, Dark Angel, and Blood Angels chapters with the first dreadnought design, plus medic, inquisitor, and unspecified "power armoured troops" who might be rogue traders, mercenaries, Imperial agents, marines from homebrewed chapters, or "renegades and lost human groups."
Players are encouraged to adapt fantasy creatures to the game, create stats for toys and models made by other companies, and invent their own worlds and races.
Note the vast majority of models pictured in the book are painted with drab tan and brown bases topped with muted colors of flock, sand, and gravel to suggest a realistic arid terrain. A few have black rimmed bases, and very few, such as the Blood Angels here, have brighter green base tops made with either a fine flock or painted sand.
