Saw some fanart from a different fandom and was hit with a neeeed bc I haven't found a Denis Villeneuve movie I dislike so of course I'd want something inspired by his work. (This actually reminds me of a Robin-centric idea I got from my favorite movie of his, Arrival. I'll tuck that one away for later.)
Self-indulgent art that, stripped of the original context of the movie (but I mean all movie screencap redraws strip the original context so I'm not doing anything different), kind of sums up some of Zoro's emotional journey in my fic Can't Live Like This. Zoro was lonely and Casey did fix it. Fortunately things get even better in the sequel, Rebuild.
Anyhow, I wanted to update Rebuild in time for this because I thought it would be fun to upload the chapter and art at the same time (I'm now just realizing I should link to the art I've c0mmed in the fic so readers can better visualize my beloved OCs [minus the parents lmao]), but stuff happened. However, I have an unofficial vacation coming up, so I just need to be strict with myself and lock in.
My birthday was last week, so I hit up my friend Puzzle for art of my babies. They're putting on an impromptu performance of II Hands II Heaven by Beyoncé bc I like to picture them taking turns during the verse and then harmonizing during the chorus. Creating your own characters means you can make them like the music you like.

(Haven't yet decided whether I want to end the chapter on a specific cliffhanger or not, so it's uncertain if Casey's siblings will have to wait to return or not.) I already have about 2k words written. I need to lock in bc I promised myself I wouldn't update without Zoro and Casey reuniting by the end of the chapter.

I currently have to ration my ADHD meds only for absolutely essential days, but I'm taking one tomorrow so I can go back to working on my canon/canon/OC fic, Rebuild. Casey unfortunately hasn't reentered the narrative because the fic also involves Zoro and Sanji's relationship (fraught as it is), and also because Zoro and Casey can't reunite until the fic reaches post-canon status, but I await the day he does so I can write about these two smooching again.
Sent the email for my indulgent Zoro x Casey c0mm request. I'm hoping to finish the current chapter of my fic soon, so I can link the art when I post the chapter. (As I'm going to link the other art I've had done over the years.) Life feels worth living again.
POV: you're at a summer festival in Wano with Casey and Zoro (and perhaps some of the other Straw Hats offscreen). Casey, wearing his man's color and earring, is reenacting part of the kabuki performance you just saw when Zoro decides to get his attention.

THE OCS
My main OC on here is Casey, this is his tag

He first shows up in chapter six of my fic Can't Live Like This as one of Zoro's love interests. The fic is Zoro-centric, meaning it centers around Zoro and his emotional journey. Zoro is in a situationship with Sanji until he isn't anymore, and then things get worse with Sanji (while things go well with Casey) until it culminates in a fight that is foreshadowed in chapter one.
Casey is set to reappear in the sequel, Rebuild.
An excerpt from chapter seven:
Zoro followed Casey out of the thick forest onto the beach of the cove. His gaze rested on Casey's back as he walked down the soft incline of the beach to a set of boulders, where he came to a stop. Flashing Zoro a cheeky grin over his shoulder, Casey stripped himself of his clothing until nothing remained, dropping his clothing onto one of the rocks. Smiling at Zoro in that amused way of his, Casey turned to face Zoro, waiting to see what he would do.
Holy shit. Zoro thought to himself, taking Casey in. Eager to meet his challenge, Zoro began removing his clothes as he walked up to the set of rocks next to Casey. He wadded up his clothes and then dumped them on the adjacent rock. He stared down into Casey's eyes, those twin suns of his set over a bed of dozens and dozens of freckles. Or stars, Zoro thought. Twin suns and a bed of stars.
"Got somethin' on my face?" Casey asked.
"Freckles," Zoro said dumbly.
Casey smirked. "Very observant of you."
"It's just that—" They're nice. "You've—you've got a lot of them."
Casey's smile softened. "Got 'em from one of my dads."

Both Braden and Juno have shown up in Can't Live Like This, but not as much as Casey. I'm hoping to showcase them some more in Rebuild.
Mason has only been named in Can't Live Like This. He's set to show up in Rebuild.
Arden and Castor, Casey's dads, have shown up in Can't Live Like This.
Casey's siblings both have spouses.
Juno is married to Dev, named and modeled after Dev Patel.

Casey's siblings both have children with their spouses. Casey is single at the time of meeting Zoro.
Casey's lived a good life, but even he has bad experience with the World Government. All I'll say is he had a mentor once, named Esperanza, you can read about her in chapter thirteen of Can't Live Like This.
Eventually Casey, Zoro, and Sanji will end up together. For now, though, there must be hardships, such as: difficult conversations (gasp!), introspection (eeek!), vulnerability (the horror!), and several more fuck ups. And a little bit of tears (of the heart, not so much physical tears).

Well, if you've made it this far, I'm glad! I would also be glad if more people were to positively engage with my fics. I hope that putting this all in one place makes it easier. My OCs and the story I'm crafting for them mean a lot to me, and it means so much to me when people are curious about them and willing to engage with them.
I commissioned @perfusio to draw Zoro and my OC Casey! They make me happy! Also they're so in love haha. Zoro likes the skin to skin contact and Casey likes feeling all of Zoro's weight on him.
