Not surprised that you requested this! 😉and @dinamo123xpq , you also requested them, so tagging you as well! Yep, if you told me the same ship was going to be requested by two different people, I would've indeed guessed that said ship would be Zoevid.

Funnily enough, though, this is not the only ship that got requested twice, and I was very surprised by the other ship that did, but that's neither here nor there. There's two main couples in s5 (Zoevid and Jasper/Amir), and onto the one that did not end well.

Zoe and David liked going on picnics together, and being in the sun made them both quite drowsy. They'd often end up falling asleep resting against each other on their blanket.

They both liked watching animated movies as comfort movies while tired and flopped onto their couch. They also liked movies playing as background noise as they made their meals.

When Zoe disappeared, Astrid would often sleep in Zoe's spot in her and David's bed. The sight was so painful that Jones usually either moved Astrid further down the bed out of Zoe's place or turned away from Astrid. When Zoe returned and moved in with him, seeing Zoe safe in her spot on the bed where she previously occupied, filled him with overwhelming love and relief.

Given that Halloween takes place in late University, it seems like Zoe was murdered around Thanksgiving, making the holidays incredibly difficult for Jones. (Really, the holidays would suck for most people in the city. Rozetta's earthquake, which killed hundreds, happened shortly after Valentine's Day, and the neohuman attack, which probably (or canonically? I don't remember) killed even more people, likely happened around Christmas or New Year's).

Carla, you came up with the idea that Zoe was put in witness protection after she was found in The Art of Murder (hey, Meera), likely at least until she remembered David in Game Over. And then, I came up with (and then spoiled for you, Carla, sorry), the idea that one of the reasons David disliked Louis even before Louis murdered Zoe was because Louis frequently called the hospital trying to check on Zoe (who would've been extremely privacy protected), and often asked David how Zoe was doing, despite David repeatedly telling Louis to leave Zoe alone and let her recover.

Related to the above, when Zoe left witness protection to live with David, Louis showed up to visit Zoe several times at their apartment/Zoe's volunteer dog job. David hated Louis' visits, seeing him as a nosy reporter who was interested in Zoe's life not because he was her friend, but because he wanted a "scoop," but unfortunately, Zoe had also regained memories of Louis and her being friends as well, and was usually happy to talk to Louis. You bet that David never forgave himself for not doing more to keep Louis away after Zoe's death.

Jones, with tremendous sadness, did eventually donate most of Zoe's belongings after her death, knowing she'd want him to give her belongings to the less fortunate, rather than hoard them. He still did, however, keep several of her more personal items, even as he returned to dating years later.

Some of his favorite videos of Zoe are of her interacting with Astrid and other dogs, especially as she would talk to dogs in that "baby voice" we use with dogs. David even sometimes talked to Astrid like that, and Zoe caught some of those moments on film, thinking they were adorable.
