yeah I was thinking. The zonite. What came first, do you think. Did future hyruleans and friends had their own name for the stuff, and then zonais arrived and were like "hey that's shiny and cool and ours forever now ;)" and renamed the stones as zonite, or was it the opposite? like future hyruleans and friends called the mineral zonite before first contact, and then weird bunny-goat-dragons came and began mining it, so the future hyruleans and friends were like "wow these guys sure are crazy about zonite, it's like their whole thing" and so they called them zonai by association, which would also be insane
#thoughts#totk#zonai#zonite#I feel like both are pretty damning either way because#either you give an entire resource your name as like a mark of propriety over it#(like if the US decided to randomly rename petroleum americaneum for example)#or you are so extremely insistent about it that the rest of the world flattens you to your relationship to the mineral#which isn't much better!!#or the zonais already called the thing zonite and ovewrote whatever local name pre-existed#anyway what a weird game full of weird lore choices#why are you making it so hard to trust that the zonai are the good guys#if you wanted to make them appear as such you shouldn't have littered the game with a billion red flags!!#weird weird game
