In between my usual classic sci-fi, I've embarked on what I call "Attenborough Quest," and my biggest takeaway from watching David Attenborough's earliest nature documentaries is that it's remarkable he survived to 30, let alone 100, between peering over the edge into active volcanoes, climbing trees to grab pythons with his bare hands, and almost being lost at sea off of Indonesia.
Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Frederick Attenborough! May you continue to inspire people to love nature for years more!
I have loved David Attenborough’s documentaries since my childhood, I remember watching one where he looked back at his older work and spoke about how much harder it was to find wildlife now, how he watched the great African migration shrink to just a whisp of what it once was.
This man has been around longer than sliced bread and I think he is one of the best people to ever live, so let’s hope he continues going strong for years to come.
Personal favourites narrated by him are Prehistoric Planet (2022 and 2023), The Year Earth Changed (2021) and Zoo Quest in colour (2016). Granted basically every documentary of his is great but these are my favourites.
Did anyone else used to watch Zoo Quest? I remember the first time I saw it in colour and I was absolutely astonished
Komodo got his attention!
Have you seen Zoo Quest (1954-1964)?
Yes
Partially
No, but I've heard of it
Never heard of it
