I created a virtual map for our BA exhibition in Tiled with a team of 4 others. I mostly used this tileset, i did a while ago! Really was a blast, even though we only had a week to complete it.
Hero’s Path Vol #3
Hello Hylians, greetings Gerudo and many salutations to all of you moblins! It’s the September 2018 edition of Hero’s Path!
Player log:
55 roleplay members (+2 new)
93 characters (+4 new)
57 NPCs
14 active threads (+3 new)
There are currently but two threads open. Member DornKoon’s A Moonlit Bargain (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=839) promises to be a sordid affair, centering around the events of a black market auction held in a filthy coal mine. The thread has only just started, and there’s one more spot for an intrepid adventurer looking for a little illicit enterprise. The thread for Summit's Shadow Inn (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=867) is also still running, and has many slots open. SSI is centered around the strange gothic manor-turned-hotel, where any manner of bizarre Frost/Lynch-ian occurrences could befall a character brave and curious enough to enter. The thread is long-form, with a rotating cast of players and staff-run NPCs. We say goodbye and congratulations to two threads that completed in the month of August; A Dangerous Game (led by Karasz, https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=339) and Madness, in a Nutshell (led by The Master Plan, https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=417).
Our newest character is Kaythenia Maverick (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=7&p=4973#p4973), the first and self-titled character from hit new member Kaythenia, a traveling bard and fire mage hailing from Necluda. Last month also brought us Ravoghull Emberclaw (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=838), perhaps our first fire-lizalfos, Velika Fell (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=826), a huntress and noble from new member santano64neo, and Evelyn Rose Devar (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=815), the second character from long time member SpiritOfHyrule. A big thanks to all of these creators; it’s because of your contributions to the forum that the site can continue to flourish.
Achievements:
At long last, the fruits of our Stable Sweepstakes event have come to fruition (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=842)! The stables have been decked out with fixed locations and evocative descriptions that tie the stables in with the culture of the region they represent. Activities in these threads should continue uninterrupted, as these roleplays are NiC, and unconcerned with such details. The retooling of our stables comes with an exciting overhaul- the Stables forum now includes Landmarks! These landmarks are essentially stables with more characteristic settings, and are subject to the same post restrictions under the 1/1/1/1 rule. New landmarks will be rolled out periodically under our even more exciting new Expansion system (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=817); new content such as races and landmarks will now roll out with entangled Seasonal Events, keeping the setting of our roleplay dynamic.
Speaking of expansion packs, we’re in the process of activating the first one now! August saw the launch of our new seasonal event and first expansion pack, The Queen’s Derby! (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=44&t=846). This seasonal event follows a special side-spectacle that your character has been randomly selected for during the Queen’s Derby at Lon Lon Ranch. Lon Lon Ranch will become our next landmark, and will herald the addition of our first expansion race! We think you guys are in for quite a magical little surprise. If you aren’t in this thread already, your time to participate is running out, as all characters must be in the special side-stable by the third round of posting.
We also have a handy new thread: The Exchange's Entrepreneurial Encyclopedia (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=52&t=848). This thread will keep a running tab on all the businesses created by our players, either introduced in NPC or PC applications. It will give you players opportunities to write connections to other characters into your applications, and just give you an idea of what sorts of businesses have been created already. Be sure to mention any businesses or merchants you might have incidentally created in an application by posting in the thread.
Patch notes:
The board looks nice and fresh now; the community server has had some channels fussed around with, and there’s a brand new sub forum for board development (https://zrpg.net/board/viewforum.php?f=53). This is where EC proposals will go from now on, as well feedback and anything else related to the technical details of ZRPG.
The big news in the Database last month was our newly renamed Myths and Magic thread (https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=251p?f=2&t=251). It is now more complete than ever before and has all the information you could ever need on Hyrule’s religious structures and transcendent laws of life and death, and a superficial but guiding description of the functional details of magic. The staff has also been hard at work maintaining our current database, and she’s gotten quite a sprucing up this month. Consider sending a thank you to those admins who toil over the smallest details to keep the database as accessible and informative as possible. Of course, the Question Zone will always be open in the discord for players who need it, but don’t hesitate to take advantage of our library of lore for your troubles!
Traysi’s Rumor Mill:
Unnamed sources have leaked that a Zomari EC article is on the way! Descriptions suggest that the exposé will reveal shocking and thorough details about the mysterious tribe’s culture and history. We’re thrilled and proud to see the community gather around a piece of original content with such zeal. Here’s hoping for many a dramatic quest and character to from around that enigmatic and brutal tribe of barbarians.
Credits:
Moderator Eggbert has stepped down from their position just this week. The staff extends a heartfelt thank you and wishes them well in their future endeavors. Drop them a line on our discord!

Nine months nearly! If ZRPG were a fetus gestating in the womb of our creativity, we’d be preparing for labor any day now! August has been an incredibly active month and the site is flourishing thanks to all of our efforts to provide a creative writing environment that is fun, immersive, and complete. Pat yourselves and your fellow players on the back, and continue to stick around for more Zelda roleplaying fun.
Hero’s Path Vol. 1
Welcome to the first edition of Hero’s Path, the ZRPG monthly newsletter! This newsletter will provide you with an overview of major happenings in the community as well as a collect of the changes that have occurred as well! It has been a while since an update like this has been sent along, so prepare for a lot of information - because we also have a lot of changes!
A quick update of our board statistics: We have a total of 50 users with approved characters, with roughly 80 characters involved in threads as of current! We have 13 active storylines, with two (2) threads having openings: Singing Streams ( https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=584 ) and Game On ( https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=654 ) . As always, our Not-In-Continuity Threads are open to just throw characters into, so check out a Stable.
It has been a little over 8 months since we launched ZRPG: Before the Wild, and are so pleased with the success we have experienced and all of the lovely new members that we have had join.
There have been some staff changes: Moderator El has retired and is now Elder El; the previous batch of Knights have promoted into Moderators - congrats Curly, Eggburt, and Julian - and we have three new Knights - welcome Kriss, Lyrahtu, and TheAutumnWriter!!!
Our 2nd seasonal event, the Lanayru Promenade Province Fair, has come to an end! There was some romantic ice skating and (necessary on-ice goofiness), personalities conflicted, inventions both useful and scam-tastic were purchased, cafe treats and gossip freely flowed into and out of mouths, and aspiring pick-up artists tried out their lines and got some new threads. This, however, doesn’t spell the end of the Lanaryu Promenade!
ZRPG is adding a new feature to our Not-In-Continuity Forum! Added to Stables forum, the regionally-based watering hole threads where characters can meet and interact across Hyrule, are now also Landmarks! Like Stables, Landmarks are areas across the Kingdom where characters and NPCs can congregate - the key difference is that Landmarks typically involve a specific activity or environment not found in other parts of Hyrule! The Lanayru Promenade, as our first Landmark, brings a boardwalk environment with confection stands, tourist traps, water games, and souvenir vendors galore! If your character isn’t currently in a stable, be amongst the first to test out this new feature!
Another new feature that we have added to our community is a podcast! Hosted by ZRPG Webmaster and Headadmin, QoH, the show has five episodes thus far concentrating on ZRPG’s history in honor of our 15th Anniversary! With historical interviews and plot-based roundtables, QoH keeps things interesting with random segments like Queenie’s Cute Corner and Blupee Bloopers! Soon episodes will be focusing on current events in the community! Take a listen here: https://anchor.fm/zrpg
The Discord and Facebook are both pumping with activity! We have added a fitness channel, and E3 has provided a lot of interesting content for people to discuss!
And last but most importantly, we have created a Player’s Handbook! Consolidating our rules, NIC handbook, New Player Guide, and other various tidbits of information, the Handbook has been lovingly graphically to be accessible and useful! Check it out here:https://zrpg.net/board/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=679
I drew this a while ago for the Zelda RP site I’m on, zrpg. My username there is antiscrub, even though I’m actually pro-scrub, so that’s why it’s written there. The staff call the users “zurpigs.” These are zurpigs roleplaying.
I’ve been reading a lot of really good RP stories about how things go horribly wrong, but I guess I don’t have a lot of stuff to share. Our forum, ZRPG, is pretty well organized even if it’s been extremely slow as of late. Users are not able to post in the IC threads until they have been granted permissions by the moderators after having their character approved. That way IC threads don’t get derailed by dumb kids or dumber trolls.
Well... I guess there was this one guy. I don’t remember his name, but he kept trying to submit a character called Yuki Tano. His character was little more than a collection of barely connected sentences, and he felt the need to repost it with next to no changes 3 times. It broke almost every rule, although it did show some very strange signs that the user had at least read our rules. He read enough to copy-paste the template and to know your character could not be more than 1/8 Sheikah. It was rejected each time and the user was ultimately banned from the forum. He was probably a troll, but he did leave a strange sort of impact.
The character became something like a meme for a short time. I think the admins eventually got fed up with it; I vaguely recall somebody getting in trouble for bringing the character up for the millionth time. There was a lot more fuckery in the old days, I hear. This would have been before my time.
ZRPG is the oldest Zelda-based roleplay forum on the internet, so far as I know, and there have basically been two eras: before the attack and after the attack. At some point in... what, 2007 was it? Sure let’s go with that. There was this disgruntled ex-staff member what came in and deleted everything and replaced it with furry porn. The site was forced to rebuild on a different server. A lot of stuff was deleted permanently. I think the old admin had some of it archived, but it may have just been one of our sibling sites.
yeah. It sure... it sure was a thing...
