Dünyanın İlk AR/VR Dizüstü Bilgisayarı; zSpace

Öğrenmenin birçok yolu vardır. Gelişen teknoloji ile birlikte öğrenmeye yeni birçok yol daha ekleniyor. Silikon Vadisi zSpace şirketi kendi ismi ile çıkardığı zSpace projesi ile öğrencilere öğrenmenin yeni ve farklı bir yolunu sundu.

2007 de başlatılan proje, zSpace’in 2013 yılında yaptığı bir açıklamaya göre 400’den fazla okul alanı, sağlık okulları ve üniversiteler de binlerce öğrenci tarafından kullanılıyor. Şu anda ise 1000’den fazla okul alanı, teknik okullar, tıp fakülteleri, sağlık okulları ve üniversite öğrencileri tarafından kullanılıyor.

zSpace Nedir?

Keşif ve deneyimsel öğrenmenin amaçlandığı bu projede sürükleyici ve etkileşimli gerçeğe yakın deneyimler sunmak adına artırılmış gerçeklik (AR) ve sanal gerçeklik (VR) öğelerini birleştirmiştir. zSpace; 24 inç HD LCD ekranı, dokunmatik kalemi ve yüksek çözünürlüklü stereopsis polarize 3D gözlüğü ile öğrenmenin sınırsız oldu bir dünyanın kapılarını açıyor. Dünyanın ilk AR/VR Dizüstü Bilgisayarı olan zSpace sistemi, ekranına entegre edilen sensörler yardımı ile izleme özelliği sahiptir ve böylelikle zSpace kalemini ve gözlüğünü kolaylıkla takip eder. Buda kullanıcıya; başını çevirdiği tarafa, kalemi tuttuğu elini uzattığı tarafa 3D sanal görüntülerin kullanıcı ile birlikte hareket etmesini sağlar ve gerçek nesnelerde hissedilen bakış açısına göre değişen konum ve parçaların birbiri ile olan orantılı uzaklık ve ilişkisinin aynısını hissettirir.

Ayrıca zSpace gözlükleri hafif ve şık bir görünüme sahiptir ve zSpace kalemi ise normal bir kalem gibi kullanılabilir. 6 serbestlik derecesine sahip bu kalem ile kullanıcılar bileklerini kolayca hareket ettirebilir ve aynı zamanda ekrandaki nesneleri alıp inceleme imkanına sahip olurlar. zSpace kullanımının dışında kullanıcılar, bilgisayarı Windows 10 dizüstü bir bilgisayar olarak kullanabilirler.

zSpace’i Kimler Kullanabilir?

zSpace kullanmanın yaşı yoktur desek tamda yeri olur. İlkokul seviyesinden doktora eğitimine kadar birçok eğitim seviyesinde yazılım setine sahiptir. İstediğiniz eğitim setini satın alabilir, ayrıca geliştirme özelliğini kullanarak eklemek istediğiniz bir materyal olduğunda kolayca tasarlayabilirsiniz.

Öğrencilere soru sorma, bilgi toplama, belki de en önemli özellikleri diyebileceğimiz model geliştirme ve fikirlerini test etme, veri analiz ile sonuca ulaşma imkanı sunan zSpace, öğretmenlere ise ders anlatımında öğrencilerin daha iyi anlayabilmeleri için kaynak ve materyal kullanımını sunar ve şirketin kendi deyimi ile “ders kitaplarını canlı bir hale getirir”.

Best of Bay Area Theatre Top 10 of 2018

The days go by, and they just keep going by. Endlessly, endlessly pulling you. Into the future. Bonus points if you can identity the reference, otherwise let’s move on to the next show on the list: 

Number six in this year’s Top 10 is a production by the geniuses at Word for Word. If you’ve never seen a Word for Word show, their production Anniversary! would have been a wonderful introduction into their approach to theatre. Which is, simply, that they perform every word of a short story or novella. The actors speak the narrative and the dialogue, as well as acting out the story. It sounds simple, and in a way, it is. But the joy in Word for Word productions is how it reveals and peels back the layers of a story. As i said in my review, “Even the most committed and passionate reader of short fiction can bring only their point of view and their sensibilities to a story, but with Word for Word we are treated to the interpretation of an entire cast (and directors) who, in collaboration, illuminate aspects of story and character in ways any single reader of a story cannot.”

The ultimate virtual reality learning experience that improves student outcomes and increase student engagement through fearless learning.

Recently, I was working on a presentation for a different course altogether, in which I was focusing on new VR educational experiences and practical ways they were influencing the classroom--through working on this assignment, I came across ZSpace, a technology firm that has been working on AR/VR experiences through the classroom since 2001, but has only recently been recognized for their IPad-style AR hardware and unique educational software apps. 

My first thought upon looking up the way ZSpace was incorporated into Science lessons at a local high school in Texas was how much it reminded me of Leap Frog (for those who don’t remember this late 90′s educational gem, it’s an educational toy where you utilize a “magic pen” to help you read aloud a story or learn about a particular concept). Some people might not immediately draw the connection between a glorified read-aloud picture book and a VR app, but to me it seemed to showcase the evolution of interactive learning within a short span of time, while also solving one of the many concerns school have with VR: that of a singular experience which requires a headset. ZSpace allows students to crows in groups and be involved in the space experiences as their peers, saving time which teachers would have to a lot for “passing around the headset”,while also providing students with more time to immerse in the experience, to have fun while learning, and to talk with each other and learn from different perspectives as well.
