KING OF MOLAM The king is back in town. No I’m not talking about the King Rama something my friend but I’m talking about the king of Molam, The Paradise Bangkok Molam International Band.Molam is the traditional sound of Isan in the north-east of Thailand and the band is the modern icon of its kind who has been representing the region’s classic legacy both nationally and internationally. The guys behind this band are DJ Chris Menist and DJ Maft Sai who runs the band’s label and a record store in Thailand. Their initial aim was to revive the country’s classics and compiled two volumes of Sound of Siam for the Soundway label. Later, band was formed and made its live debut back in 2012. At Vick’s Weekend held at The Jam Factory Bangkok in a typical sauna-hot evening, huge pile of people flown to enjoy the good vibes nailed with great food, cold booze and chilled music and I was lucky enough to be present on this special occasion.
