'Goethe und Die Muse'
Wilhelm von Kaulbach (1804-1874)
My new favorite to sing, thank god I took those German classes. .....Oh it starts in my mezzo voce😧😧😧😧
A little bit late, but here is the first chapter of our audiobook version of Faust written by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. The rest will soon follow as the weeks pass by.
(Oh and yeah, it's in german of course)

I am going to be a music nerd for a second because I'm thinking about german art songs that I love now.
There are so many composers that I love for their artistry, deft touch, beautiful messages, etc.
But then I love Richard Strauss because he writes some just stunningly PRETTY SONGS. Even if they are a little schmaltzy.
So, for your listening pleasure - this is one of my favorite singers of all time, Jussi Björling (toward the end of his career. He died relatively young) singing the schmaltziest, Zueignung. I get goosebumps on the high "Heilig!"
Eargasm
"Zueignung" - R. Strauss (1883) Composing for voice and orchestra, Strauss' works harmonically and melodically were very substantive. His wife was his inspiration, and thus is reflected in his works being predominantly with high voice in mind.
