Working on redesigns for my Flight Rising dragons, starting with Zuzanna the Acrobat - I think this new version is way stronger while still being true to both the dragon's appearance and profession and to her bubbly, friendly personality.

As always, some design notes under the cut...

I love Zuzanna's gold and red colors and wanted to keep her rich, regal palette without making her seem to serious or elegant, since her personality is a lot more carefree and bubbly. Her cooler toned dark skin and hair meant the dark red didn't feel to stark of a contrast, so it blends nicely with her overall palette and feels cohesive.

I mirrored the dragon's shape and features in areas like her facial structure, the front details of her leotard being shaped like the dragon's belly scales, and her markings on her face and along the arms and sides of the leotard itself, with her runic designs becoming decorative elements for her costume.

The bright yellow flowers and sheer silks gave me a chance to bring more lightness and irregularity to her costume, and I think serve to make her feel less formal and more like a a friendly circus performer. There's also some nice asymmetry in her leg wraps and leg band, without being too chaotic. I think the bells/tassels on the silks and the beading on her headpiece are doing a lot to shake up her design and make it feel more active and less sleek, too.
