Worldbuilding Wednesday - Disability Pride Month Edition
Does your clan have any dragon or beastclan residents with disabilities? How do their disabilities affect their daily lives? Does your lair have any accessibility features available (ramps, braille, sign interpreters, etc) for residents or visitors who might be disabled?
I have a few disabled dragons!
Cahrid was disabled due to spinal injuries she sustained escaping the coup that overthrew her kingdom, and as a result lost her ability to walk or fly and is very limited in her hand movement as well. She uses a wheelchair and moves it assisted with locomotive magic due to her arm weakness, or by being pushed by her guardian or trusted friends. While some locations are only accessible by air, those on the ground try to accommodate for her, especially larger buildings like the library (where she spends most of her time)
Caeca was blind from birth, with very limited light-and-shadow based sight. She has a seeing eye familiar and navigates the world very well using that and her cane, but obviously has certain other accomodations like wearing heavily tinted glasses to aid her light sensitivity and using braille (or the Sorneith equivalent) in order to read and write. She will also ask other dragons to read signs or letters aloud to her when needed.
Scroll has a chronic musculoskeletal disorder resulting in weak, underdeveloped wing muscles and joint issues that makes flying difficult and causes chronic pain. He has worn orthopedic braces on his wings since a young age, and while his current set is very advanced and beneficial, he still resents having to wear them due to those childhood experiences. He's working on it, though!
