Pairing: Thaenicus/Zylarra AU Setting: Modern Day High School

She had always been awful at math, but passing grades were required to continue her softball career. He was addicted to his studies – nose always buried in a book – but when she came to him, he dug himself out. Theirs was an unlikely friendship, but with each hour spent in tutoring sessions, one of legend did blossom.

"Uh... So, guess what?" The Young Monk says as she smiles at Thaenicus, "I think you might not have a job much longer. But the plus side is last night was fun. But, probably not gonna happen again." (Reaction to waking up after a night of drinking in the same bed.)

His eyes peel open at the sound of her voice, bloodshot and heavy. “Wh-what?” he mumbles, squinting through the rays of sunlight pouring in through a gap in the curtains. He struggles to sit up, still dazed and terribly confused as his hues lazily crawl over the mess of sheets, empty bottles, and two pairs of legs. As reality finally begins to settle in, he looks over at her, the corners of his mouth curling up to almost smile, but the sleepy haze quickly comes crashing down. 

Shit. Shit. 

“What the hell?! Oh gods. Oh shit, oh gods,” he groans, clutching his skull as he rolls out of his bed – the bed they somehow managed to share together the night before. “Please tell me. We didn’t… Oh, fuck me. Zas… Shit, shit! Out! Go! How quick do you think I can pack a bag and get to Draenor?!” 

[ thefeltingedmonk. I grimaced the whole way through this. ]

Zylarra walks into the library in her usual training leathers, with a few books, looking about, "Hellooooooooooooooo?" She calls out, "HEY! BOOKWORM! YOU AROUND?!"

He nearly falls from his perch on the ladder when her voice pierces the silence. Gripping onto the splintering wood, he lets out a strange series of noises as his feet struggle to find a rung. A sharp sigh of relief shoots from his throat when they manage, and he hangs his head, lamenting silently over the fact that his entire, uneventful life had just flashed before his eyes. 

Leaning back just enough to poke his head around the corner of one of the tall bookshelves, his eyes squint to attempt to spy who it is. It was not often his haunt received visitors, after all. 

“Who is it?” he calls out, frowning in minute irritation as he finally makes his way down the ladder. “Wait. Who are you calling bookworm?!”

You are hereby cordially invited to join the Silvenheim Family, and it’s affiliates, to celebrate the birthday of it’s eldest daughter, Lady Zylarra Irastia Silvenheim, on this day of April 11th. We would enjoy the presence of your company, and of that of your family and/or friends, to celebrate this momentous occasion. We shall be throwing the aforementioned celebration in the port town of Bogpaddle, located in the swamp of sorrows. Please feel free to stop in, and enjoy the amenities that we have to offer.

"How big is your... collection of dirty books? Is it just one Author, or are you a connoisseur?"

“God fucking damn it, Zylarra,” he muttered, letting out a heavy sigh. “I used to only have one, but its author keeps sending me the damn things. My collection, now, is rather… vast.”

"Send a ✠ and a question and my muse will reply to it after drinking lots of alcohol." Zylarra giggles, "You. Me. Bed?"

His head is tossed back forcefully, nearly throwing himself from his seat. The sound is boisterous and jovial as he laughs. When Zylarra doesn’t laugh with him, he falls dead silent. His lids widen so much that his eyes might fall out if they weren’t attached. “I… what?” he asks incredulously through squinted hues. When he realizes just how serious she is, his entire face turns bright red. Yes. He blushed. He falls quiet, his body tensing as it screams in agony for release. 

“No,” he says abruptly, letting out a heavy sigh. “No… thank you.” His hangs his head low, gently and repeatedly thudding his forehead against the table.

He goes home that night and bathes in ice water. 

God damn it.

Now, however, he is maintaining celibacy until they are married. He would struggle immensely to refuse, however.

A Package would be sitting in Jeziel's Mailbox, his name printed in an all to familiar handwriting. Inside, would be a boxed set of books by Zarry Silvean, concerning a young Warlock's misadventures in the Row.

Well now it was becoming ridiculous, he thought to himself, but it did not keep his lips from curling into a smirk. He hugged the package to his chest, kicking snow off his boots at his front door before slipping inside. Habitually, he locked the door behind him as he holed himself inside his study, opening the package with care. His smile only grew wider as his gaze beheld the set of tomes, and he chuckled under his breath. He recalled the single book he had before, traveling in his satchel for miles and miles, battered and torn up from the countless times it was his sole companion. Gratitude filled him as he let out a quiet sigh, seating himself at his desk, and scrawling out a quick note. Miss Silvean,
