Perhaps that last whiskey wasn’t a good idea.
Not drunk enough to pass out, but drunk enough to do something as stupid as try to navigate the sporadically changing sector. Honestly she was looking for a building that she could get something small to settle her mind. Anything! Some water would do her, yet for the life of her, her inebriated state left her a little confused. The streets were dark, yes, but parts were lit dimly by some of the street lamps, so she’d thank the Maker for small mercies later.
In near desperation, Isabela started scanning the sides of the pavements, looking for any store with a light on. She’d had enough time in this city to try and work out how everything worked, but every time she shifted her gaze, things just went blurry. She’d vow never to drink again after this, but only go down to drink again the next day.
How to never learn, a book by Isabela.
Drawing herself across the road to a flickering light, she’d finally found her destination, only for as soon as her foot had made contact with the pedestrian’s path, things shifted, the entire sector had shifted. The store in front of her was now a small trinket shop. She’d have to start all the way from square one. And to think, she was so close!
Blinking in absolute disbelief, Isabela took a few steps back into the road, staring in disappointment at the new shop before her.
“Oh, bugger it all. This is going to kick my ass in the morning. Unless it’s already morning. Oh, for the love of....”
