Heavy Artillery's Rolling Remix 2024 authors have finally been revealed and I can now properly credit this Good Good So Good™️ post-war fic that sent me on a Runner/Leckie spiral. Touches on the circular and nebulous grief in the safety of American shores after the war—the fixations turned coping mechanisms that come with it. Birth names don't sound foreign next to the one you picked up on an island whose name you could barely pronounce the first time you landed on its shore.
There's a knock on Runner's door and the person behind it looks a lot like war but feels much more like home. Absolutely loved this fic.
Art featured is a mock up I based off of Armed Services Editions. I used elements from the original book cover for The Big Rock Candy Mountain by Wallace Stegner, fonts from the time period, and detail Libby's Peaches and Cream ad from April 1922.
