Be healthy. This means eating the right amount of veggies, fruits, meats, rice, everything. This means working out on a regular basis. This means getting enough sleep, drinking enough water, getting enough sunshine. The basics are often overlooked. Don't forget about them. Short term: buy some fucking groceries, you can't eat ramen every day like you did for finals week. I don't care how good it is.
Study well. This may not mean straight A's, but it sure as hell means understanding the material to the best of your ability. Organize your time, get homework done as early as possible. Short term: place into Japanese.
Communication is key. This means being able to clearly talk things through with your boss, at your interviews, with your friends, with a potential SO. Short term: talk to PI about the future of your research project. Remember the poster project due this semester? Are there any new projects in store for you?
Do what you love. Take a break from school when you can. Do something you love EVERY SINGLE DAY. Short term: revamp the sketchbook, tumblr, insta, you name it.
Practice what you love. Doing it isn't enough. You have to practice! Try new things! Short term: bboying regularly. Look into the fencing team?
Seriously, though, read. Can't emphasize this one enough, because you don't do it enough. Short term: let's start at getting through 15 books this semester.
And write. Try to make a journal entry every day. Write down quotes that made you think. Write down quotes that you think of yourself. Write down ideas. Write down anything and everything.
And draw. Experiment. Look up artists. See what makes their art special. Learn from them. Practice, practice, practice. Short term: draw at least 2 things every month this year. Maybe you'll finally be able to do the summary of art at the end of the year, lul.
Make friends. This means trying to meet a new person every day. This means throwing away those who don't give a shit about you. You're almost there. Short term: get ready for spring 2015. Holla.
Make every second meaningful. Take advantage of all your resources. Read books on the bus. Listen to podcasts and videos while cooking. Draw during class if you're not going to listen. (Better yet, actually listen during class.)
Look your best. How many times have you sighed at someone else's amazing wardrobe. Become that person that you admire. Become your own aesthetic. No slacking off. Short term: get your hair done at that NYC salon.
Be amazing. Long term: Try to achieve all your goals, no matter how absurd they seem. Short term: get into Oxford/St. Anne's, get into Mt. Sinai. You can do this.
Be yourself. Be comfortable in your own skin. Don't let what others think of you dictate how you present yourself. Present yourself however the fuck you want. It's your life, remember?
Be the best you can be. These last few aren't mutually exclusive. Take action. Don't let things happen to you. Make things happen FOR you.
Don't just say pretty words, go out and MAKE THESE THINGS HAPPEN!!!
