Norsk litteratur i utlandet

Lesing på målspråket ditt er en av de beste måtene å øke ordforrådet. Hvis du lærer norsk og bor utenfor Norge, har du sikkert allerede lagt merke til at det kan være vanskelig å finne norskspråklige bøker. Dette gir mening, siden at norsk snakkes ikke ofte utenfor hjemlandet og nordmenn kan finne informasjon på engelsk når de reiser utenlands.

Altså, hvordan kan en finne norske bøker? Det kommer an på hvor du bor. Jeg er heldig å bo i USA der mange folk har norske røtter, særlig her i Washington, så er det mulig å finne noen norske ting her og der. Du må bare vite hvor du skal lete.

Gratis e-bøker

Dette er den enkleste måten å finne norskspråklige bøker med en gang. Det finnes mye norsk litteratur tilgjengelig gratis på nettet, men de fleste bøkene pleier å være klassiske verk med gamle danske skrivemåter. Her er noen nettsteder:

Det er også mulig å lese e-bøker fra nasjonalbiblioteket hvis du har en norsk IP adresse. Dessverre kan du ikke nedlaste dem, men du kan lese dem på bibliotekets nettsted. Ikke så dårlig med en nettbrett, ikke sant?

Norske bokhandler på nett

Her er noen populære norske bokhandler på nett. De selger e-bøker og sender papirkopier til utlandet. Dessverre med en fraktkostnad på rundt $23 USD kan det bli veldig dyrt å importere bøker fra Norge, og du kan ende opp med å betale mellom $60-$70 for bare én bok. Det er ikke så dårlig hvis du kjøper flere bøker om gangen.

Finn nærmeste universitet med en avdeling for skandinaviske studier og du kan bla gjennom biblioteket gratis. Hvis du ikke er student, kan du dessverre ikke sjekke ut bøker, men du kan lese dem der. Noen universiteter kan tillate låne privilegier til de som har gitt en donasjon til universitetet. Be en bibliotekar om mer informasjon.

ILL Systemet i USA

Selv om mange folk her i Seattle har norske røtter, er det dessverre vanskelig å finne norske bøker i bibliotekene. Det er heldigvis mange varianter av norsk litteratur tilgjengelig i Minnesotas bibliotekene, og gjennom ILL systemet kan du få dem sendt til ditt lokale bibliotek helt gratis. Spør bibliotekaren om hvordan du kan bruke systemet. Du kommer til å trenge bokas ISBN, og jeg bruker denne norske bokhandelen for å finne det.

Lokal Sons of Norway Kapittel

The Sons of Norway er en organisasjon som fremmer norsk kultur i USA og Canada. Hvis det er en kapittel i nærheten av deg, kan du vurdere å bli medlem. I tillegg til alle de mange morsomme arrangementene, er det også vanlig for SON kapitler å ha et bibliotek for medlemmene.

Barnebøker for Norge (children’s books for norway) — free norwegian children’s books for a variety of levels & they also have audio! also they have an option to go between bokmål and nynorsk which is pretty fun

På Vei (textbook) — this is a beginner textbook but it’s entirely in norwegian so a bit of knowledge of norwegian is needed

Loecsen Learn Norwegian — another free (very beginner) course

norwegian dictionary with both bokmål and nynorsk — not a translation dictionary but just a regular one but it has both bokmål and nynorsk

NRK Nyheter — this is a bit advanced obviously but NRK is my go-to if i want norwegian reading practice (it’s just news but also NRK has tv programs as well including skam & they also have radio)

SKAM website full episodes — you’ll need a vpn but they have norwegian subtitles also it’s great for learning how people speak every day

Lovleg episodes — same as above (you’ll need a vpn) also lovleg will be a little hard to understand if you’re learning bokmål bc it’s very dialect-y but another show to watch in norwegian that i think is good

my norwegian playlist on spotify — it’s not super long but good for discovering norwegian music if you don’t know any :-)

Hei! Yes, of course. I’ll round up everything I can think of for you :)•  Get Duolingo. Set your daily goal for something low, like 10 XP, so you can motivate yourself to at least do one lesson/exercise a day. If you’re motivated, feel free to overstep your goal, but there’s no shame in just doing one lesson to keep your streak going, it seems like a little but over time you’ll see it means a lot. • The Mystery of Nils is one of the best Norwegian textbooks out there. If you sign up to their mailing list you get half of the book for free as well as videos such as these pronunciation ones.• Here’s a site that explains the basics of Norwegian. I went through this and took notes like I was in school and it helped me get a basic grasp of Norwegian grammar!• NTNU have a quick and dirty course on everything.• WordBrewery, not just for Norwegian, but for Norwegian, can give you sentence examples with your preferred difficulty and you can also choose specific words to practice there.• Norwegian teacher Karin, my queen.• Here’s a list of Norwegian vloggers. • Watch Himmelblå. (All three seasons complete with subtitles in Norwegian are on YouTube.) You might be surprised with how much you will understand even if you’re just a beginner. I watched it when I was just starting out and the immersion really helped me! Folks

If you haven’t heard of Store norske leksikon yet you are gonna love it. It’s a big ol online encyclopedia, all in Norwegian, with fantastic articles and tons of topics to learn about. If you’re at a B2 level and looking for more to read & learn vocab from it’s super helpful.

I’m interested in linguistics in general so I started on an article about dialekter i Norge and ended up going down a pleasant rabbit hole of other articles about various linguistic terms, theories about dialect change, and specific dialects of certain places (ie Bergen).

I haven’t explored all the topics but it looks like there is so so much there, whether you want to learn about people, history, scientific concepts, art, farming, geography — you name it!

Jeg kunne listet opp mange norske såkalte “klassikere” ved navn, men jeg har faktisk ikke lest så mange av dem. De anbefalingene jeg gir her er 100% basert på de bøkene jeg selv har lest og likt, uavhengig av hva andre måtte synes om dem. Hvis du heller vil ha flere anbefalinger fra den “litterære kanon” bør et enkelt Google-søk gjøre susen!
