Today, 21 years ago my best friend was born. Here is one of the greatest people to walk into my life. This girl has grown into a beautiful, intelligent, successful, independent, and strong-willed woman. I'm grateful for all the laughs, trips to Amélie's and Waffle House, all the walks downtown or just watching Netflix and sipping get coffee. Who else would I whistle at in Walmart or blast Hey Ya down the highway? Who always knows how to make me feel better when I'm upset, and goes out of her way to help? These past few weeks I've stuggled. I'm exhausted juggling two jobs, trying to see friends and family. The toll on my mind and body leaves me almost defeated. I am in a world so focused on negativity and selfishness that I got caught into it. My mom posted something about even in our darkest moments, we should see the little things that bring us joy. Because there are a lot of them. I'm joyful that I have a good relationship with my parents. I'm happy to have a best friend who will always be there for me. I'm lucky to have a job that allows me to encourage and excite children to learn about their world and themselves. And I work in a job that exposes me to so many different people and views (plus coffee). I'm grateful that I have the privilege to travel, see beauty in nature, and expose myself to other cultures and experiences. So in this stressful and sometimes dark world, I'm eternally grateful for the people and moments that bring a smile on my face.
