  She doesn’t mean to make Kurusu-kun panic—doesn’t intend to create a false sense of urgency. Only it is urgent. Haru texts accordingly.

But could you come to the roof as soon as possible [To: Kurusu-kun  :] Please [To: Kurusu-kun  :] Please come as soon as you see this.  The approximately 2-dozen snails devouring her tomatoes pay no mind to Haru who is kneeling beside them. This small snail village (or ‘snillage,’ as she is calling it) is as much of a surprise as it is an obstacle. This calls for backup. And backup is hopefully coming.

HE  SENSES  THE  URGENCY  IN  HER  TEXTS  --  and he reacts appropriately by breaking into a very sudden and whiplash-inducing sprint from his classroom to the roof. 

     The roof door SLAMS open to announce his arrival,  “Are they okay? Haru--” 

     Then he sees it  --  the snillage  (  =  snail  +  pillage  ) .  He presses a hand to the door, feeling faint, though he isn’t sure if it’s from the sight of the carnage or from his unprompted physical exertion.  “Oh, oh god.”

     But he regains his composure quickly, emptying the contents of his bag to the rooftop floor with haste--Morgana falls out first, then an empty bento box, followed by his current reading material (”Samurais in Snowfall”), and only then does his random assortment of tools of various usefulness come crashing out.

     “I have salt in my backpack--somewhere.  A taser too, maybe.  Haru, we'll make 'em pay.”

    Sh-shovel!? People thought Ryuji was the trouble maker, but it would never cease to bring the smile to his lips when Akira said something like this. He snickered, plight momentarily abandoned, as he hurriedly texted back.

    She wouldn’t. But that sad face. It was worse. Not to mention the other keys and stuff attached to that ring…

THAT’S  HARDLY  A  FAVOR  AT  ALL.   Akira goes knick-knack-diving in mementos for fun.  He’d normally try to get the whole group together, but it was a tad bit too late in the evening for that--and the issue seemed too pressing to wait any longer.  How many Phantom Thieves does it take to find a pair of keys?  Shouldn’t be more than two, right?

     Akira goes there straight away and passes the time waiting scanning near the entrance for the keys--no dice.  They’ll have to venture further.

OOC:  I’m pretty much down for anything  (  though obviously I’m not going to ship with adult characters  ) ... Though, full disclaimer, I have not seen any of the romance social links in the game except for Hifumi x Joker, because she was the only one I romanced in my playthrough!  Before shipping I’d have to watch the romantic social links... or it’d be super cute to rewrite our own 10 SLs if canon let us down??  But, seriously, I’m down for anything and everything.

Futaba x Joker is something I’m most hesitant about just bc I see their relationship to be more siblings-like.  However, with proper communication, I can definitely see it in a more romantic way.  I’m not comfortable with the way that the social link tried to branch into romance, so I’d definitely have to talk about it beforehand.

Polyships-wise... it all comes down to communication again.  I wouldn’t want all our interactions to only be lovey-dovey stuff, haha...  It would just depend on everyone’s chemistry with each other IC and OOC!  [:

HE  LOST  TRACK  OF  TIME.  His phone battery died hours ago, sometime between them debating who would look best in a Victoria’s Secret bra  (  Ryuji or Morgana?  it remains a mystery.  )   and them contemplating building a bear in the fashion of Date Masamune.  In his sloppy, sloppy defense, they both lost track of time  --  not that it counted for much.  Nobody should be be counting on Yusuke for that.

     The first sign that something was wrong?  The lights shut off on him mid-bathroom break.  Good timing too, otherwise he might have emptied his bladder elsewhere.  And when he stumbled through the dark and found Yusuke with his trusty flashlight  (  a Phantom Thief always carried his tools  )  , they quickly found that the doors leading outside were locked shut.

     They were undeniably trapped in a mall.

     “...Any chance you got your phone on you...?”

IT’S  TOTALLY  UNPROMPTED.  Akira’s staring into a steaming bowl of ramen blankly when he suddenly snaps back to reality, looks at his friend in all seriousness, and blurts,   “You ever think about getting a tattoo?  Or a piercing?  Anything like that?”

THE  MISSION  WAS  SIMPLE  ENOUGH :  he was to accompany Haru to a company meeting and steal everyone’s hearts  (  metaphorically, and only while wielding his disarming charm rather than his preferred gun and knife  ) .

      Let it be known there is no role a Joker can’t play.  He rented a dapper suit for the occasion  --  pink wasn’t his color of choice, but the salmon tie and blazer matched Haru’s dress too well for him to reject it.  Inspired, he even fashioned them matching peony corsages at work.  Upon their arrival, he performed his obligations as a gentleman with ease  --  doors held open at all the right times, hand held at the ready around every perilous corner.

     Frankly enough, he didn’t even know why they were here, but it didn’t matter to him.  What mattered was that everything was going swimmingly.  The only obstacle?  When Akira sees a chance for mischief, he takes it.

     No more than ten minutes after their arrival, someone mosies up to them and hits him with the perfect set-up, a guaranteed way to make his evening more interesting:  “Oh, Miss Okumura!  Wonderful to see you here.  Is this...”  A quizzical look was tossed his way.  “... your partner?”

     And Joker responds straight away, without so much as a breath,  “Yes.  Absolutely.  Her betrothed.”  He goes in for that practiced handshake and introduction,  “Akira Kurusu.”  After which, he smiles impishly at Haru and holds out his hand, a baton pass of sorts,  “Let me get your jacket for you, honey.”

CLEARLY,  HE’S  GOING TO BE A  YO - YO  MASTER   --  if you turn a blind eye to the new chip in his glasses and the bruise on his forehead.  Contrary to popular belief, Akira wasn’t born a natural at everything  --  he just usually doesn’t show off his broad arsenal of skills and tricks until he’s had plenty of time to practice.  Ryuji just caught him off guard this time by showing up at his place during his newly designated yo-yo time.  But what was he gonna do, reschedule?  Nah.

     “Ryuji.  You want to see a trick?”  Doesn’t matter.  Akira’s going to show him anyway.  “I call this one...  ‘ Walk the cat. ’ “  Akira says, pokerfaced  (  better yet,  jokerfaced  )  ,  as he turns to reveal Morgana tangled in the string, bobbing at the yo-yo with all he has.

the jingle of a bell indicates her arrival ━━ door guided by delicate hand as feet step across the threshold. a slow inhale and she’s greeted to the smell of flowers   ,    enveloped by the pleasing assault upon her senses. quite literally   ,   she follows her nose ━━ moving with purpose and lost within the shop’s quaint selection   ;   pausing only when the scent she’s been searching for was located.

HE HEARS SOMEONE   enter the shop long before he sees them, too focused on putting the finishing touches on this bouquet.  When he looks up and sees his neighbor, he feels regretful  --  the flowers he had in his hands paled in comparison to the flowers across her skin.  This bouquet would look far better tangled in her hair than in its vase.  

    “That’s...”  He redirects his gaze to the most fragrant flower in the arrangement  --  a branch covered in small purple flowers that he lifts so she could smell them better.  “...vervain.  It means... cooperation, sensibility, and enchantment.”  Seeing her so close to it, he couldn’t resist any longer and lifts the branch up to tuck it behind her ear gingerly,  “Think of it as a free sample.”

     Regardless of how good it felt for him to kick that poor defenseless trash can ( much to the chagrin of that woman climbing the stairs to the door of his building ), it wouldn’t solve his problem. And his mother was going to absolutely mur-.…  nah, she’d just do that horrible thing where she sighed sadly and told him she’d figure it out. Disappointment: much worse than anger. There was only one solution: Joker.

    He typed a message quickly in his phone.

IF THE QUESTION    is whether Akira would die for his friends or not, then the answer is absolutely.  Without a doubt.  In fact, he’d do them one extra and probably kill someone on his way out too.  So when Ryuji texted him so urgently, he responded within seconds:

    [TEXT:]   Where are you?  I’m omw.      [TEXT:]   I’ll bring a shovel.

     After school activities be damned  --  he’s already on his way back to the subway.  In Ryuji’s honor, he kicks a trash can over on his way there.  (  And in his own honor, he promptly picks it and all the trash he scattered back up again.  )  Hopefully, that’ll give Ryuji enough time to text him where to meet up and what else he needs to bring.
