So this is the continuation post of my previous ask regarding the allegation of whitewashing in Shiori's portrayal in HNY. As we all know that antis have brought it up many times before since the episode was first released. But several days ago, between 10th to 12th February, a discourse on twitter about it was happening again. It was, in my opinion, one of the worst discourse I have, not-so-accidentally, involved in because several antis that spoke up about the problem (including me) are native, dark-skinned Asians yet our arguments were shot down by non-Asians, saying that we're the racist one because we're stirring problems when there is none. So, in favor of trying to understand what did they exactly mean, I summed up yesterday's discourse to see their arguments as objectively as possible.
Just keep reading but please brace yourself because this one is gonna be long af 😂😂
✨✨✨✨
1. So we all know that Shiori's skin getting gradually lighter in HNY is a problem that antis have brought up multiple times. Of course the assumption that would arise is that she got whitewashed remembering that colorism is still a huge problem in Japan, no, East Asia, hell it's prevalent in the whole Asia continent!
Here I added more comparison how she used to look like vs now in HNY vs her human form. Please judge for yourself whether she got "whitewashed" or not.
2. Sunrise bootlickers The opposed party chimed in, saying that her dark skin is a demonic trait she inherited from her father. That's why during her human day when she looses her youki, she'll loose her dark skin, too, replaced with fair/pale skin tone that came from her mother.
3. After hearing their reasoning, at this point all antis involved in the discourse stated that it's sort of wrong to assume that Shiori's dark skin is just a demonic trait because it can be implied as if no full human in Inuyasha universe would have darker skin tone. Her tanned skin can also be seen as the representation of indigenous Japanese that have naturally dark skin color. Therefore, linking Shiori's dark skin as a mere demonic trait that will disappear once a year is rather harmful because it implies that a darker tone is not a normal skin tone in Japan. It indicates a possibility of colorism that occurs in the studio that creates anime Inuyasha and HNY for there is a favoritism of lighter skin tone over the darker one.
4. However, pro-light skin Shiori once again reaffirmed their arguments that it is not racist nor colorist. More so because everyone's born with different skin color.
5. Someone pointed out that Towa and Setsuna, as hanyou, also show changes in skin color during human night making them resemble their demon father more, or not, idk what exactly this person wants to say 😭😭
6. Also not racist because "human" in Japanese all have light skin tone.
7. From these tweets, I gathered that this person believed that antis saying "associating Shiori's dark skin as just a demonic trait is a bad thing" means antis are stereotyping Shiori's father as a bad demon (but please CMIIW though ✌).
8. You may want to read this person's statements first and then analyse by yourself what exactly the message that did this person want to convey. In my case, after a long thought, I assumed that this person argue that the skin tone diversity is within Shiori's body herself. If antis don't like her fair skin, then that means we're the racist/colorist one. Furthermore, any POC that have problem with it is having a color complex.
(And I'm sorry but for me the most insulting part is that s/he said that no Latam POC have that problem because they aren't self-conscious like Asian/non-Latam POC. Feels like s/he invalidates the struggle and discrimination that we grew up with :) But, thanks to this person, I now understand the perspective of Sunrise supporters, why they think that antis are actually the racist/colorist one, not HNY directors. Nope. Could never be them, right? 😉
9. This one is a special shoutout to user TrapMagician for pointing out that Shiori is a black person, therefore other POC, including the tanned-skin Asians, are not allowed to say that there is a colorism problem with Shiori's character 😂😂👏👏👏👏
10. This is another honorary mention to TrapMagician for pointing out that one of the biggest anime studio (back then) was having a limited color palette, that's why Shiori's skin tone is getting "upgraded" now 😂😂👏👏
Conclusion? I let you readers to make your own conclusion. If by the end of this post you still think that Shiori's getting whitewashed, then you're with antis! But if you changed your mind, okay then 😁
One more slot for picture I reserved for this, compilation of "endearment term" from Sunrise stan to anyone that opposed with them 🤣🤣
😗✌✌
shitrise/shippers: “but she was 18 years old!”
shitrise:
it doesn’t feel good to be right
So for context, Kagome here is implying its been fourteen years since she's last seen her family.
And the last time she sees her family is in the epilogue, when she returns to the past
Which is when Rin was eleven.
Implying she became pregnant not long after Kagome returned.
But Jaken "thinks she was eighteen" when she had the twins.
The math just ain't mathin.
Guys I'm shocked...
This is a child...
foolproof way of testing the "adult rin" design is removing that second eyelash and giving her back her old kimono and ponytail
that is a child
(I was too lazy to get the actual pic)
14 years old Setsuna next to Sesshomaru / 14 years old Kohaku next to Sesshomaru
And then there's Rin ...
There is no way that she is an adult and I can't believe that there are people trying to defend this thinking that Shitrise is really going to take the time to do representation of "petite women". It's not just that she looks like a child, it's that she speaks in the third person, she is treated like a child by Sesshomaru, she is dubbed with the VA thinking of child Rin. This is the same strategy that any lol*con series has where a character that looks and acts like a child is said as be 1000 years old just to be able to say, see? nothing wrong here, she is an adult 🤢
With the current news of Kenshin and the mangaka and his crime in discussion again, and since this news was reported on today, the mangaka of Galko-chan was caught with CSAM/CSEM material.
Text:
CW: crime involving child pornography
Manga artist Suzuki Kenya (author of "Please Tell Me! Galko-chan") went missing last week and was eventually found. Now, we have breaking news that he was arrested on the account of importing child pornography from Germany into Japan.
And last week there was this mangaka:
Text:
Mangaka きゃらきゃらマキアート @ccmakiart has been found guilty of sexual assault towards a minor (elementary school girl) and has been sentenced to 3 years with 5 years probation.
Seems like a lot of pedo mangaka have been coming out of the woodwork lately...🤢
Here are two more pedo mangaka, though they aren't recent incidents (one is only from 2020 though, so not *that* long ago).
The Act-Age mangaka sexually assaulted minors.
The mangaka Shimabukuro Mitsutoshi engaged in child prositution (with a 16 year old) in 2002. The mangaka of One Piece continues to support and be friends with him, as well as Kenshin's mangaka.
The anime and manga industry have an issue with pedophilia, and the anime and manga community has an issue with providing safe places for child predators.
Oh, no. Ugh, Kenshin is getting a new TV adaptation.
Reminder to anyone out there that may not know, the mangaka is a known pedophile. He was caught with a ton of real life CSEM (Child Sexual Exploitative Material) aka CP. He is a child predator who only got a slap on the wrist in the form of a fine (that wasn't even that much money). And now, here he is, getting a new adaptation of his series being made.
Kenshin was my gateway anime, it wasn't my first anime, but it was the one that got me watching more anime. It will always hold a special place in my heart because of that, but there is no way in hell I'm going to be supporting this new adaptation.
The only way I would is if the mangaka recieved absolutely no money from it at all and some of the proceeds went to a charity that works to help and protect csa survivors. But, we all know that won't be happening. Instead, the mangaka is going to make some money off of this, and some of that money is going to end up going towards materials that harm children. All this adaptation tells me is that the anime industry cares more about a child predator because they wrote a good story once, rather than the health, safety, and livelihood of actual, real life children. It's vile and repulsive.
Also, to anyone who may try to defend this adaptation or the creator (because I've encountered that over on FB before), just know your words mean nothing to me. They won't change my opinion or stance on this and all it will result in is me blocking you.
【TRUTH】Yashahime’s Director States Sessrin Has NEVER Been Approved by Rumiko Takahashi
(Translation of 海豹肉丸/北斗七星绅攻豹‘s article 2021-11-28)
We all know Sessrins love showing off Takahashi’s “favour” to their ship, although Takahshi politely denies it again and again. In fact, according to a recent Yashahime review, not only Rumiko herself, but also the the very director of Yashahime, Teruo Sato, openly declares that Sesshomoru and Rin are never a ship in Rumiko Takahashi’s work.

It is clear that to Sato, “SessRin” is a thing never exsits in Rumiko Takahashi’s work. Here he is worried that even though Yashahime is not Rumiko’s work, some fans may well feel “uncomfurtable” about this ship. (Which is, of course.)
Yashahime is a fanwork of the Inuyasha Anime. Inuyasha anime is adapted from Inuyasha manga. The commerical part of its copyright belongs to Sunrise, but the canon is always what Rumiko Takahashi has drawn.
I agree that wanting to see InuKag is no excuse to tolerate Trashahime. The InuKag we know and love have been made completely OOC, weaker and defenseless in that fanfic. That's not the characters we know and love. InuKag fans should learn from Sailor Moon fans who got angry when they could not see a wisp of the personalities of Sailor Moon and her friends in the Sailor Moon Crystal remake. And the producers listened. REAL fans recognize what the basic traits of the characters they love are.
Look, I love Inukag… But the Inukag I love is not the Inukag from Yashahime. The Kagome who doesn’t blink an eye at kid Rin getting impregnated by her legal guardian? The Inukag who show less than a teaspoon of emotion upon seeing Moroha fly by, and on top of that, stare and point instead of going to rescue their daughter. The Inukag who didn’t seem to progress despite being married and trusting each other explicitly by the end of the manga.
The list goes on and on for me. As much as I find Moroha a cutie, I find myself able to easily dismiss her existence. Inukag are canonically married. They were at the end of Inuyasha. I’ve read so many stories and seen so many OC children that Moroha is just another for me.
I’m not saying other Inukag shippers can’t get excited about seeing more Inukag content, but they shouldn’t support Yashahime financially in any way. If you want to celebrate individual scenes that’s fine, but don’t buy the manga. Buying the manga tells the mangaka and Sunrise that lolicon and grooming sells. If it makes money they’ll keep producing that problematic content. Also, it’s bringing more attention to a series that celebrates lolicon themes and grooming which isn’t good.
Yashahime is the new Cursed Child.
So according to Sunrise...
(pic isn't mines, it's from twitter)
All of Pedomaru and Rin's interaction in the anime is now 100% confirmed romantic building and foreshadowing.
Sunrise's Pedomaru fell in love with a 11 year old peasant girl he resurrected on a whim and traveled with for a year as a liege. This is now the canon they are officially endorsing.
There is no more room for shipper coping, no more room for "b-but he fell in love with her after she MATURED!11" or any other nonsense that clearly made no sense. There was no "gap" for Rin to grow up on her own and "come to her own conclusions". Pedomaru was always there, Rin was always adored him as her savior and through his advances, she was coerced into thinking that adoration was romantic love.
Sesshomaru, a "mentally 19 year old" demon who is thousands of years old acquired romantic feelings for an 11 year old Rin. He actively pursued her romantically for years until she was capable of sexual reproduction and gave him children, who he all but threw away for 14 years to prevent his loli wife from becoming a scaley.
This is the Sesshomaru Sunrise manufactured from their sick desires. This is the extent of what they were willing to do to pander to a subsection of people that saw an innocuous, platonic and open-ended bond between a man and a child and wanted them to fuck.
I want to say I'm in awe, but this is something me and other antis have been discussing for over a year now. But to see it laid out in a way nobody can dare deny it now is another level of disturbing.
I can't even say "I told you so" because in this case, it literally means "Sesshomaru was just a pedophile all along"
“Rumiko Takahashi supports S*ssR*n”
This is a scene from Rinne, the manga that RT drew after Inuyasha.
I didn’t read it because, after someone told me many years ago, that maybe the kimono that Sesshomaru gave to 11 year-old Rin could be a courtship gift, I decided to boycott her mangas.
But, from what I’ve understood, the man below is Rinne’s father who is an immortal half-shingami and half-human and the child next to him is his wife who was an immortal shinigami who accidentally reincarnated into a human girl.
These are the dialogues :
The black cat asks to Rinne’s father “What you two gonna do in the future? To get back together?” and he answers “That’s impossible, she’s just an elementary school student”.
Rinne’s father is immortal like Sesshomaru, Rinne’s mother is a human girl now like Rin, why didn’t he just say “I’ll wait for her to grow up”? Why does Rumiko Takahashi think it’s impossible a future romantic relationship betwen them???
In conclusion, isn’t this scene quite strange for someone who apparently “supports” a pairing like S*ssR*n? What do you think? 🤔

OG Sesshomaru restoring his honor.
@uknowmyname96
In my last reblog, it should be noted that InuYasha's author, Rumiko Takahashi, had nothing to do with this sh*tty spin off series, Yashahime. She just designed Sesshomaru's twins (without a mother in mind at the time), Setsuna & Towa, and Moroha, InuYasha's & Kagome's daughter (who definitely should be counted as canon & should've been the main lead in the first place!).
Everything else was done by the studio, Sunrise, and their nasty fanfiction. So, I recommend you leave it as non-canon and stay tf away from this series cause this pedo trash is absolutely disgusting!!
Why Rin CAN NOT be 18
Since some of you shippers, who peak in our tag, and sunrise still can’t do math, I’ll do it for you:
Back to Inuyasha:
We know for sure, that Kohaku was 11 during Inuyasha. Now look at Rin next to him. She is much shorter even though girls tend to be taller than boys in that age (in the manga she is even shorter in the beginning!). So, even if we presume, that she is just a tiny girl, we can not deny, that she is younger than Kohaku. Not only because of her looks but also because she acts younger. She is much more carefree than Kohaku and handles situations like a little child who is still in the process growing and learning. But I am nice, and say Rin might only be two years younger than Kohaku and therefore presume she is 9 years old during Inuyasha.
So, as we know at the end of the anime, Kagome stays for 3 years in the modern times and returns after said 3 years. 11+3 makes Kohaku 14 and 9+3 makes Rin 12 in the final episode of Inuyasha and the beginning of Yashahime.
Fine, she still looks ^ like a small child and every sane person would presume her at least 1 or two years younger than 12 but we agreed on that number for god’s sake.
So ^. We know, that four years later the twins and Moroha were born. 12+4 makes Rin 16 at the time she gave birth and it is likely, that she got impregnated at the age of 15. This leads us to the assumption that she started making out with Sesshoumaru at the age of 15, 14, or even younger.
This ^ is a picture of a girl, who got impregnated by her guardian in her early teens. (SHE IS STILL WEARING THE KIMONO THAT FIT HER WITH 11/12? SUNRISE, ARE YOU KIDDING ME? SHE DID NOT GROW ANYMORE???) A girl, impregnated by her guardian, who was her only true family after her real relatives had died. The first person who cared for her after everyone treated her badly at the presumed age of 9. The one who protected her, the one who became her family and her home when she was still a child.
And now, do not tell me that this is a healthy base for a relationship. Do not tell me, it is healthy to make out with your hogasha (parental figure) 6 years later only because you came of age. Would you make out with your parental figure who cared for you since you were 9 after 6 years? Would you? If you really think this is what a healthy relationship looks like, then congratulations! You deserve that pedo-show destroying your favorite character’s relationship by making it grotesque and wrong.
Now if Rin was 18 when she gave birth, that would mean, she would have been 14 at the beginning of Yashahime and 11 during Inuyasha. You see how that makes no sense, right?
^ Does a 14-year-old look like that? NO.
Does an 11 years old girl look like that next to a boy of the same age?? NO.
^Our second reference for sunrise not having a single brain cell to create a proper timeline is Hisui who was born at the end of Inuyasha. Who is still an infant at the beginning of Inuyasha. How does it come, that he looks still like a toddler 4 years when the twins are born? No 4/5 years old child looks like that. His sisters looked bigger when they were only 3 (see one image above!) This child is about 2 years old at its max.
Congratulation, sunrise. You did not only create a pedo-show out of a beloved anime - you are also stupid <3.
Sunrise will never show the progression of Rin and Sesshomaru’s “relationship”, because there’s no point in the timeline where it would be morally appropriate to do so. Rin had her twins when she was 17, meaning Sesshomaru f*cked her when she was 16, possibly even still 15. Keep in mind that Sesshomaru is hundreds of years old (literally an old man) and has the physical form of a 19-20 year old. We have to assume Rin and Sesshomaru “fell in love” at some point before he f*cked her, right? Well, when exactly did that happen? When did they share their first kiss? When she was 14, 13, 12? When did Sesshomaru start feeling sexually attracted to her? When she was still prepubescent? Who had “the talk” with her, and how old was she when that happened? How old was she when they had sex for the first time? 14? 13? 11? I feel dirty having written that, but that’s the whole point. Everyone who supports this should feel dirty and uncomfortable, because no matter how you try to spin it she was a CHILD! The official fan site even cites Rin as being 29, meaning she was possibly fifteen when she had the twins.
Rin doesn’t even have any agency. She still calls her own husband “Lord Sesshomaru” and never questions anything he does. She’s completely maintained her childish naivety and devotion for the OLD MAN who saved her when she was 8 years old. When did she have a chance to mature and make her own decisions? When she was living with Kaede? When Sesshomaru canonically regularly visited her and brought her GIFTS? He was always actively involved in her life, which is a major problem. You think Rin didn’t consistently look forward to these visits and gifts all throughout her upbringing?
What do you even know about Rin? I mean, what do you really know about her? Her entire character is centered entirely around Sesshomaru. What’s her favourite color? What’s her favourite song? What are her goals and aspirations? When did she decide she wanted children? Did she date anyone else before Sesshomaru? Likely not, considering her extremely young age. What is she like when she’s angry? Have she ever argued with Sesshomaru? What’s her job? What are her hobbies? Did she have friends growing up? Was she bullied? How does she handle stress and adversary? Rin isn’t a character anymore, she’s a plot device, written to pump out two daughters so Sunrise can pander to a now mostly adult audience who look back so fondly on Inuyasha they don’t even notice this is a textbook cash grab. Their relationship simply isn’t appropriate.
“But it’s their culture!” you scream, likely not knowing anything about Japanese culture.
Feudal Japan had one of the highest life expectancies in the world, as it still does today. The mean age of childbearing was actually 19-21. Today, it’s even older, with the average Japanese woman giving birth to her firstborn between the ages of 31-33. Yes, it was common for young girls to be sworn to nobles and impregnated anywhere between the ages of 11-16 (basically any time their period started), because they were expected to pump out multiple babies as quickly as possible to produce heirs. What Sess/Rin shippers seem to ignore, however, is that in most cases this was FORCED. The mother had no say and it often lead to miscarriages, stillborn births, or DEATH, as the girls were so small and underdeveloped. What a thing to romanticize.
If I don’t get a response from any of the companies within a week, I will send another email. This process will continue until they pay attention!
I just got confirmation that Rin’s official age is 7 in Inuyasha (waiting on image to confirm), not 8, so she would have been 13 when she got pregnant and 14 when she gave birth. This whole 15/16 argument is WRONG. Hiusi is not 4, that child is between 1 and 2 years old in that flashback, meaning we are seeing a 14 year old child giving birth. SHE WAS THE SAME AGE AS HER DAUGHTERS.
Go scorched earth on Sunrise. Email and tweet at all the companies.
In 2021 this shit does NOT fly.
ALSO. Leave the shippers alone. They are not the people we need to target. Let them stay in their delusions that Rin was 17 at the end of the Final Act.
Shippers will be blocked on sight.
Calling her 8 was being fucking generous… Jesus Christ.
Are we surprised y’all? Are we freaking SURPRISED!!!!!
Just in case y’all forgot. The grown man she’s throwing grabby hands at impregnated her and was likely “dating” her during this exact scene.
Here it is folx. Rin in Inuyasha is officially 7 years old.
Special thanks to @ribbon-couture and the discord group.
So this means:
Kagome returns to the fedual era - Hisui is born. Rin is 10. Sesshomaru was sending her gifts and visiting her at this point.
6 Months later is the Root Head attack.
1 Month later the black pearl is delivered.
4 Years later Hisui is 4* and Rin is 14. 💀
*He legit doesn’t look 4, but that is the timeline we have been given (I believe, if I’ve gotten anything wrong, let me know).
Anyway, this is gross. 🤢 I know, nothing new, but it still needed to be said.
OK but Sunrise does not know how to draw 4 year old children?
Based on early childhood development, that Hisui is 1 to 1 and a half.
Funny you should mention, in fact they do know how to draw 4 year olds because here is the mirsan twins at 4 and here is hisui in that 4 years later flashback
These were drawn by the same studio. No worries though I was informed tht that was a mistake and hisui is 7 here and the twins are …11? 12?
Sunrise can’t keep the ages of their characters straight. No wonder Rin is the mom. Sunrise probably thinks that 13/14 year old Rin is 19/20 years old.
