I'm incredibly excited to share this news about next year; "The Monologue Duets" - A collaboration with New York-based dancer/choreographer/producer Danielle Strader, which kicks off on January 12th, 7:00 pm (EST), at Stella Adler Center for the Arts, 65 Broadway!
This project is centered around a series of short performances, each presenting the craftsmanship of one musician and one dancer/choreographer, who interprets musicianship through movement.
The project envisions some of my solo pieces (or “monologues”) for various instruments, as expanded studies in both music and the movement required to produce it.
Artistic director Danielle Strader, the musicians, the dancers/choreographers, and I have been working together to reimagine how musicians and dancers can move together and embrace musicianship as the beautiful, physical art form that it is.
"Danielle Strader is an interdisciplinary movement artist based in NYC whose work is guided by curiosity, playfulness, and the voracious pursuit of clarity. After moving to New York from South Carolina and obtaining a BFA in dance performance at Marymount Manhattan College, she began her masters study in Performing Arts Leadership and Management with Shenandoah Conservatory. Danielle is the founder of Sights and Sounds Collaborationworks, through which she explores the intersection of music and movement by uniting composers, musicians, choreographers, and dancers in process and onstage."
We all hope you'll tune in for this project when it launches in January!
