( ariana grande, cis woman, she/her ) is that LUCIANA VESPA, the 32 year-old OWNER at ROSE'S TURN? they’re pretty PATIENT, but people have told me they could be TOUGH SHELLED as well. they kinda remind me of LAST KISS by PEARL JAM, probably because of the whole DAMAGED ON THE INSIDE & SMILEY ON THE OUTSIDE, TALKING TO HER CATS, AND CONSTANTLY HAVING A BOOK IN HER HANDS vibe they’ve got going for them. they live in EAST VILLAGE, LONG BEACH, but you can probably find them at BAR VOLANTE if you wanted to chat. out of everyone i know, i’d say they’re the most likely to SURPRISE YOU WITH HER VOICE. say what you want about them, but they’re an angeleno through and through.

Luciana always had a passion for reading. She was someone who was always seen with a book in her hands, but it was even better because it was something that her and her mother could always bond over. As soon as she was old enough to read young adult and adult books, Luciana and her mother were always hosting a book club at their home and they would drink tea with their friends and discuss the best books out there.
Sometimes her siblings were jealous about how close Luciana was with her mom, but she couldn't help that they bonded over books and that's not something that her other siblings were not into. Luciana couldn't be bothered with what made her siblings jealous. It was always Luci's dream to open her own used bookstore. She felt like the big corporate stores were overcharging and trying to exploit people.
Luci went to school for business so that she could open the store with her mother. After college, Luciana was working in the business world and she was so busy with everything in her career that she didn't have much time to plan out the bookstore, but that's not something that bothered her mom as long as she was happy with what she was doing.
When Luciana was at work one day, she got a call from her father that her mother had collapsed. Turns out that she had received some news that she didn't tell anyone about and she was severely ill. Luciana didn't have enough time to make it across town and to the hospital before her mother passed. She felt devastated that she was the only one who wasn't there to say goodbye to her mother. However, her mother had been working on something that she wanted to give Luci.
Luci's father had given it to her about six months after her mom passed and it was a short story about a mom and her daughter being the best of friends. However, it wasn't finished. Luciana was determined to finish this book and make her mother proud of her. Her mother had actually left all of her money to Luciana with her father's blessing so that she would finally open the bookstore that the two were dreaming of. Of course Luci named it after her mom and it's something that opened up recently and Luciana was prepared to make her mom proud.
Luciana left the corporate business world to make her and her mother's dream come true to provide books for people who couldn't always afford them by having a used book service. While money was good, it's not what mattered to Luciana as it was about going to work every day to make her mom proud.
