Being ungrounded happens when you are out-of-balance. When energy is blocked, you are unable to access the support of the earth and the higher awareness of your spirit.
A simple grounding exercise involves the visualization of yourself as a tree. First, close your eyes. Next, visualize roots growing out from your feet. “Extend” these roots through the ground and going all the way down. Anchor them at the center of the earth.
2. Meditation.
Meditation helps bring about awareness. You notice the subtle energy changes within your body. You know if you are out-of-sync or if you have become ungrounded.
Practicing body awareness or moving meditations is helpful.
You bring your awareness into the now, rather than the past or the future.
You are aware of your physical existence even while increasing your spirituality.
If you are grounded, you are conscious of yourself and your current surroundings.
You don’t have to spend hours doing meditation. In fact, just half an hour a day is enough to expand your awareness.
3. Get Physical.
Physical activity helps to remove any accumulated toxic energy in your aura. When you shift your energy from an overloaded mental focus to a physical one, you can clear away any mental debris. Getting connected through physical activity does not necessarily mean that you must join a gym. All it means is to allow your mind a chance to take a break.
4. Nature.
Going out by the ocean or just being in nature is a wonderful way to revitalize. Working with soil or clay helps in grounding. Simply touching the earth helps. Gardening is a wonderful grounding activity as it reconnects you with nature.
5. Grounding Foods.
According to Ayurvedic Medicine, there are grounding foods that you can eat, and it suggests Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes, Carrots, Ginger, Avocado, Mango, Papaya, Grapes, Olives, Berries, Coconuts, Figs, Melons, Green Beans, Egg Plant, or Yams.
For flavoring your food, use warming spices such as ginger, nutmeg, garlic, cinnamon, cumin, coriander, and cloves. A dash or two of fennel and/or sea salt also works.

Simply hold the crystal in your hands, and visualize any unwanted energies flowing outward, and into the crystal itself. Occasionally, you will need to cleanse the crystal by putting it on the soil of the earth to drain and clear it of any negative charges.
⚠️This is just my personal approach based on research, mentors and my own experience, please do your own research too ⚠️
Some general guidelines:
These are all recommended for both uses, magical and medicinal, but particularly for plant material you’ll want to give medicinal use.
Always harvest ~10 meters away from contamination sources (roads and cars, railroads, constructions, factories, etc. Even more serious stuff like landfills and heavy metals) Plants can absorb toxic chemical compounds from any these sources, so if you plan to ingest them or apply on your skin etc, avoid contamination sources. Examine your area to find where it’s safest to harvest plant material from.
Only take up to 30% of plant material, preferably less (leaves, flowers, berries, roots) this is to allow for healthy regrow.
Don’t take material with visible harm, illness or bugs, such as yellowed or bug bitten / holey leaves, etc. Educate yourself to recognize different possible bugs or parasites or plant illnesses that may affect your local flora to avoid these.
Sometimes you’ll have better results with fresh materials, you don’t always need to dry them. Know when to use what, depending on your goal and what compounds you want to extract, and how it’s best to extract them.
If you prefer fresh, you can keep fresh herbs in a vase with water for up to a week, more or less.
Clean the branches & leaves by soaking them or washing them in saltwater to scare away little critters, and dry them stem-up, making small bundles with stems fairly separated so everything is well aireated, and always away from sunlight. Do not clean with alcohol, detergent, or any other substances. Just water or salty water will do.
Roots, flowers, berries and bark can be dried in drying racks or basquets. Separate them from each other, specially flower petals, to dry them thoroughly and keep in a dark place until they’re fully dried (you’ll know if they crack when handling them and don’t feel soft anywhere anymore). For roots, bark and berries, move and rotate every so often to make sure they dry evenly, or just dry them in the oven if you’re brave! (be careful not to burn them)
Aromatic herbs should be harvested before they bloom, when you see the fully formed buds and their smell (and taste!) is strongest.
When cutting the stems, cut at an angle to allow for healthy regrow.
Always make sure you’re harvesting what you think you’re harvesting. Learn to identify plant species properly, and always, always research about lookalikes it may have, as they could be toxic or poisonous or harmful in some way. This is necessary for safety reasons.
Store everything in glass jars or paper bags, away from humidity, to prevent mold. I don’t recommend plastic bags or containers as they can more easily retain humidity but that’s me. Check on your stuff often too!! Different things will last more or less time on the shelf.
⚠️Extra reminder to always check which part of the plant is medicinal, check if any other parts could be toxic or harmful, check for dosages, contraindications, possible allergies, and possible interactions with anything else you’re taking!!!!!!!!
For specific plant parts:
Flowers: Harvest as soon as they’ve fully bloomed, during the full moon.
Berries and fruits: Harvest right after the first frost, generally in autumn. Look for deep color and tight, glowy skin. I like to harvest these under a waning moon.
Seeds and pods: Collect these when all flowers are gone, usually in late summer, under a waning moon.
Leaves: Ideally, collect these from bright green and flexible limbs, the first warm days of spring when there’s new sap and no flowers yet, but for many species you can take some leaves all year round. Under a waxing or full moon does it for me.
Bark: Harvest during the first warm days of spring, when the sap rises. You’ll find newly formed bark easier to peel off. Rather than peeling the trunk directly, cut off a branch or limb and peel it off completely, it’ll cause less harm to the tree or bush. Under a waxing moon it is.
Roots, rhizomes, tubers: Harvest after all the leaves are gone, around late autumn, but before all the good stuff stored in them is used during the winter. Under a waning or new moon.
Some superstitions:
These are more specifically for the magical properties of the plant.
Some folks say you shouldn’t harvest plant material with iron scissors or other iron tools, as iron scares away the spirit of the plant, and thus, the potency of whatever your working on will be less.
For some plants, you’ll find specific prayers, chants or charms, more or less complicated rituals, to harvest specific parts at specific dates. This is, again, for the spiritual properties rather than medicinal. I am the type to believe proper harvest makes both the work and the medicine stronger, but it’s up to you to decide how to go about harvesting certain plants considered “sacred”, and even what plants are considered “sacred” will also change depending on your own practice, culture, tradition, region and more, so do your research!
It’s common belief to not speak while you’re going to harvest the herb, and neither when coming back, as to not alert the spirit your intentions and out of respect for what it gave you or what it’s doing for you.
But while you’re there, after harvesting, let the plant spirit know why you’re in need of it’s aid and leave some kind of offering in return (again, do your own research on specific plants and their folklore, but some general things such as water, sugar or eggshells, and more traditional things like a certain number of coins, will likely work just fine)
With some plant species, particularly the poisonous kind, or some associated with the devil in folklore, you’ll likely find ways to protect yourself from the spirit’s anger upon being unearthed or cut. These range from giving praise to the spirit in the form of poems, songs, or offerings before getting to harvesting, to drawing circles in the dirt around it with holy water, a knife, or your own hand, and may even be having to cut the branches or unearth the plant in a specific manner (some say backwards, some say away from you) to prevent it from harming you. Sometimes simply carrying protective charms will do. Learn the folklore of each species you work with!

This is a binding spell for liberating yourself of an abuser and making that son of a bitch get what they deserve. It’s inspired by the lyrics of Nine Inch Nails’ song, Head Like A Hole.
Am I really about to write how this spell came to be like I’m some kind of cooking blog? ‘Cause I hate that shit, just gimme the recipe Susan, but anyways, a little back story: one of my spirit roommates is an avid Nine Inch Nails fan, and he came up with this binding spell. He’s used it with great success, and he would post it himself, but he’s a dead guy. So I’m just here to deliver it.
And now, onto the actual good shit.
Remember kiddies: bindings and hexes work the best when you put in your own salt and anger, so if you wanna tweak anything, go right ahead, you absolute fucking legend.
You will need:
A piece of paper
A pen with black ink
A lighter
Tape
A fireproof bowl
Powdered cascarilla
A container (Jar, sandwich bag, empty bottle, empty soda can, anything)
A head-shot picture of the one that you are binding (Optional, but very helpful)
Timing Suggestion:
During the new moon, or on a Saturday.
The Spell
On the night of the new moon, or on a Saturday, gather your supplies and go to where you will perform the spell.
Once you are in your work space, use the pen and paper to draw an outline of a human figure. As you do so, picture your abuser, imagine them clear as day on the paper. You can add other details to make them look more like your target. When you are finished with the outline, draw rope and bindings to symbolize your target being tied up and bound. This will represent their control over you being removed. Write their name in the middle of the outline. If you have the picture of their head-shot, tape it over the head’s outline.
When you’re done with your drawing, place it into the fireproof bowl. Take your lighter, and set the paper on fire. Try to start the fire around the head of the outline. As it burns, repeat these words until the entire paper is burnt to ash:
Head like a hole.
Black as your soul.
I’d rather die than give you control.
Bow down before the one you serve.
You’re going to get what you deserve.
If you don’t want to speak out loud, you can play the song from your phone instead.
Once the paper has been burnt entirely, collect the ashes out of the bowl and place them into your container. Seal the hell out of it. Put this container somewhere awful: somewhere dark like a closet, maybe a freezer, put it under a heavy rock, anything that can show that your abuser has had their power ripped away.
Dust your hands with the cascarilla powder to cleanse yourself.
You can repeat this binding however often you want, but this one is usually one and done. When you feel like you are no longer in danger from this person, dump the container of ashes somewhere safe for the environment. (Like down the toilet.)
This is a throwback to an old spell that uses a lot of sharp items to create a protection jar. Using sharp objects like thumbtacks, pins or broken pieces of glass is a way to create a ‘psychic fence’ so to speak. That way anything negativity coming towards you will be pushed back or deflected by all the sharp objects surrounding your energy field.
What you’ll need
1 clean and cleansed jar (see note on this post on how to cleanse your jar)
Sharp items (Thumbtacks, pins, opened safety pins, needles. If you’re going to use broke glass PLEASE BE CAREFUL)
Add in any protection herbs or crystals if you choose to but I usually skip this step.
Something that binds you to the jar such as fingernail filings or a lock of hair. The original spell asked for drops of blood but that’s a whole different thing if you want to do that. I recommend just using hair because of the risk of infection by cutting yourself.
Cleansing your jar
It’s important to cleanse your jar first and foremost. You can use any jar (Hello salsa and sauce jars!) Clean them out super well. If you are stuck with a smelly jar that has retained a strong odor even after washing out thoroughly you can rinse the jar with vinegar or let it sit overnight. That will usually get rid of any smell.
Once you have cleaned your jar, I simply cleanse it by using incense. Light your incense and let the smoke thoroughly fill up your jar before releasing it into the air.
What to do
Set up your spell with any provisions you would normally use. Light candles, incense, and have any crystals out that you feel connect you to your magic. Protect your space by imagining a white light in a circle around you encasing the jar and sharp objects inside.
Place each object inside until your jar is at least ¼ to ½ of the way full. Last, add a lock of hair or item that you chose to bind this jar to you.
Once everything is inside, close the jar. If you want to seal the jar with wax you can take a candle and drip wax on top of the jar or on the sides letting the wax drop down into the seal.
Close your spell and release your circle.
Take your jar and hide it in a dark place where no one will find it.

I’m not sure if this is a common tool for other witches, but if it isn’t then it should be! I was first inspired by this from the evil lilac bush from the book Practical Magic, and partly from my own grandmother’s ability to make any plant thrive. I’m here to drop some knowledge about using seeds in spell work.
Seeds are wonderful tools to use for a few different reasons. Firstly, seeds are dormant forms of life. For this reason, they are great candidates for offerings in almost any spell or ritual. Simply use the seeds of a plant that is associated with the deity you are working with, or simply the intention you wish to enforce.
Another beautiful thing about this is the variety you can use and the possibilities of customization. For a love spell, you could incorporate the seeds of any plant that has an association with love, such as roses, forget-me-nots, ect. For a curse, you could use an aggressive weed (obviously this requires responsibility, you should never use invasive non-native plants that can change the ecosystem.) such as dandelion, ivy, or even a plant that is poisonous or foul smelling.
Seeds act as time bombs for spells and grow stronger with time. For a long-term protection enchantment for an area of land, you could use an acorn and plant an oak, which has strong associations with protection and health. You could use an annual plant for a shorter spell that will end with the year. This also makes ending the spell somewhat easy if done properly. To put a stop to your enchantment, simply harvest the plant or remove it from the area. This could also be a problem if you use an invasive plant, but that may be what you want! It could act as a failsafe for others trying to tamper with your magic, or to prevent you from making any rash decisions. It could act as a powerful amplifier for your spell, spreading fast and growing more powerful over time, affecting everything in its path. This is another example of a time when experience and responsibility are necessary. The commitment required for such a spell may not be appropriate for an inexperienced witch, or for anyone who isn’t absolutely sure they want this kind of advanced magic cast into the world.
Seeds/plants recharge themselves. They are living organisms that create their own power from the sun. This means that you do not need to constantly recharge your enchantments. The closest you may come to this is watering your new plants with intent!
Bonus: It is an eco-friendly alternative to other techniques such as spell jars/bags. It is also much less conspicuous!! To anyone else you appear to be gardening or planting trees for the earth (which you kind of are, but they don’t need to know the rest.) You can slip seeds almost anywhere without detection. This makes them an ideal alternative for bulky spell bags that could easily be found and are difficult to place. Cast the seeds of morning glory in your abusive ex’s yard with the intent of binding them from harming another without a single trace. Cast the seeds of rosemary at your mother’s gate to offer protection. I’m not here to police your craft, the possibilities are endless!

Here are some more tarot tips; specifically for interpreting the court cards as people. I've been reading tarot for over three years and my reading style may be a little different. See if these help you.
The suit's element would normally match the individual's sun or rising sign. I have had a few rare occasions where the element of the card didn't match the person's sun or rising sign, but most of the time it does. Wands = Fire Signs; Swords = Air Signs; Cups = Water Signs; Pentacles = Earth Signs
In most of my readings, pages and queens are feminine presenting individuals. Knight and kings are masculine presenting individuals.
If the card specifically comes out in reversed, then it is highlighting the negative traits of a person for that reading. Usually that means that the negative traits of the individual are significant to the situation the person is asking about.
King of Wands: A mature, strong, natural born leader. They are fearless and very action oriented. Likely to be an entrepreneur or in a position of power within the workplace. They can be quite charming and good at talking their way into (or out of) something. Reversed, this person is troublesome. Lacks confidence and self-esteem. They may have a nasty temper and are prone to tantrums. Very impulsive and has control issues.
Queen of Wands: A very beautiful individual- the type of beauty that draws attention to them everywhere (not just physical beauty- personality, too). Most likely to dabble in magic out of all of the queens, in my experience. They are very passionate, optimistic and assertive. Very independent. Likes to be their own boss. Truly is the lioness in charge. Reversed, they tend to be jealous individuals. May have a nasty temper, similar to the king of wands reversed. Tends to be very insecure about specific things. Mildly paranoid- they get triggered when they feel they are being manipulated. Very harsh when triggered.
Knight of Wands: Think of a less mature or inexperienced king of wands. Typically, this person is a younger individual, but outgoing and adventurous regardless of age. Has the fearlessness of the king of wands but tends to lack in common sense. The sporty, active type. Has a warm energy and likes to socialize. Loves a good game or challenge. Reversed, they are incredibly impulsive and lacks in self-control. Very reckless and entitled. They think even less of consequences but still manages to make it somebody else's fault. They tend to stay stuck acting the same way for years, until they have a realization that they are the problem.
Page of Wands: Think of a less mature or inexperienced queen of wands. A person who is young at heart and embodies youthful energy. Quite cheerful and optimistic. Incredibly creative, very artistic. Quite adventurous. They tend to seek approval from others, so they should focus on learning what it means to be their own boss. Reversed, this individual tends to find themselves in stagnation often. They can't quite seem to let themselves be authentic. They feel powerless or ignored, which leads to them acting out. Makes up for their loneliness by misbehaving to get attention. They fear being forgotten or left behind.
King of Swords: A very calm, very practical individual. They are disciplined and wise. They are honest and secure in their beliefs but are still open to learning about what others believe. Not the type to tolerate foolishness. Understands that everybody is always a student, no matter what position they are in. Very intelligent and always seems to have an answer for everything. More likely to find themselves in positions of authority than the king of swords (mostly because they tend to crave the ability to be the boss more). They are ambitious. Tends to impress people with their strong work ethic. Reversed, this person isn't ambitious. They are power hungry. Will manipulate and gaslight people as much as they can to get what they want. Gets very bitter when they lose. Very vengeful. Questions peoples motives and tends to be the best at psychological manipulation.
Knight of Swords: Think of a less mature or inexperienced king of swords. Quick-witted and smart but lacks the experience and knowledge the king and queen of swords have. They'll get there one day, though. Rational, but assertive. They tend to be the friend that will give everybody else multiple warnings when they do something stupid, then say "I told you do" when they end up being right. They're still loyal and will be present when their loved ones need them. Reversed, this person is just as impatient as the knight of wands but doesn't complain as much. Gets upset when they don't achieve something but doesn't acknowledge that they are too pushy. Very rude. Tends to be the bully.
Page of Swords: Think of a less mature or inexperienced queen of swords. This person craves knowledge, though they don't quite understand that knowledge isn't the same as wisdom. Still, their curiosity leads them to become quite intelligent. Analytical, deep thinkers. Asks a lot of questions. Can be quite chatty. Reversed, this person tends to be a loner. Not the type of person to have more than two or three friends. Tends to be insensitive to others, passing it off as "offensive humor" but really, they're just a massive bitch. They are either egoistical or insanely insecure.
King of Cups: This person is diplomatic, empathetic and caring. The type to do what it takes to keep the peace. Pretty easy-going, not the type to be very strict. They are in control of their emotions, but they are able to express their emotions in a healthy way. Not the type to seek positions of power but is likely the patriarch of the family. Reversed, this person's emotions control them. They react emotionally, not thinking of what they are saying until it is already said. Moody, irritable types. Doesn't hide their feelings well. Can be withdrawn after an argument.
Queen of Cups: A genuine, kind person. Very supportive of their loved ones. Sensitive, but not toxic. This person is also very sentimental- things such as heirlooms, family photos and even the smallest gifts mean a lot to them. Empathetic- more than the king of cups. The type to cry when somebody else starts crying. Usually, the first to listen when somebody needs support. Reversed, they are emotionally possessive. The type to manipulate people with their emotions. May mean well but ends up causing harm in the process. Vain. Very stubborn when they are not supportive of somebody else's decisions. Will throw a tantrum after a while if their various attempts of getting somebody to agree with them or do what they want fails.

In tune with their emotions but may not have figured out the best ways to express them quite yet. Adaptable and easily influenced by their surroundings. Reversed, they are performative. Genuinely nice and wants to help others. Very imaginative. Similar to knight of cups, tends to be in love with the idea of love. Daydreams a lot. Reversed, they are like spoiled children. Used to getting what they want. Not the type to stay in one relationship for too long. Tends to be manipulative of others. Prone to lying.
King of Pentacles: Similar to king of wands, very likely to become on entrepreneur. Very successful in their career field (and generally most aspects of their lives). Most likely to be able to retire young but tends to keep working anyways. Very ambitious and knows what they want. Grounded- they aren't manipulated easily. Seeks to do better. Respectful towards others and demands respect for themselves. Will help their loved ones but has limits. Reversed, this person is greedy and stingy. Only thinks of themselves. Stubborn. Materialistic and judgmental. Sometimes a gambler. Don't expect empathy or sympathy from them- they are ruthless.
Queen of Pentacles: The most motherly and nurturing out of all the queens- even the queen of cups. Very loving. Tends to be more of a homemaker. Family is everything to them. Practical, yet empathetic. Offers comfort and support when needed but does not tolerate their kindness being abused. The parent, parent friend, plant parent, animal parent... They love taking care of others. Reversed, they are smothering and possessive. Selfish. Tends to be very anxious and gets nervous when they feel people are against them. Good at pretending they did nothing wrong. Doesn't like it when people don't tell them things. Don't share finances with this person- they will spend all your money and not feel bad about it.
Knight of Pentacles: Think of a less mature or inexperienced king of pentacles. They are hardworking and strive for success, though they may not always be sure of what they want in a career yet. They either have a clear vision of what they want or are still dabbling in anything that interests them until something clicks. Tends to have their morals and values straightened out young, but their sense of stability is lacking. Reversed, this person doesn't know what they want. They lack in confidence and tend to make up for it in indulging in other things (such as video games, partying, etc...). Tends to seek perfection but can never reach it. Don't befriend or date them if you're looking for loyalty.
Page of Pentacles: Think of a less mature or inexperienced queen of pentacles. Jack of all trades, master of none. They tend to want to do many things but never have the time to. Tends to be the most outdoorsy out of all the pages. Enjoys a good adventure, but once they're back to work they don't play games. Impresses people with their ambition but they tend to pile too many tasks on themselves. Still loyal to their friends and family, though. Reversed, they are easily distracted. Don't trust them with any major tasks. Probably best not to loan them money. Very immature and lazy. Procrastinates and probably gets in trouble for it often. Doesn't take consequences seriously and keeps repeating bad habits.
