Have you meet someone special while on tour?

I think anyone in their right mind would agree that Queen B is a very special person. I did have the pleasure of meeting Miss Blue Ivy herself. She was backstage coloring at one of our stops. One of the cutest kids I’ve ever seen.

Hey I can feel the complete excitement bursting from you even from reading these posts. It’s really great to hear that everything’s going super awesome with the tour. I’ll admit I’ve been stalking Youtube  catching someone’s recording of you now and then!

It’s so great! I mean, yeah I was super nervous and felt like I had so much to live up to, but I think the kids really like me and it helps there’s some old members in the group too. Auditions were great- seemed like the students of McKinley took the opportunity by storm this year. We’re gonna be some tough competition!

I’ve been staying away from the YouTube recordings of my performances. I just know that if I go on there, I’ll be tempted to read the comments and I don’t want to see them. Not that I think they’re all trashing me on there, but I just don’t want like one negative opinion weighing on my mind. We all know how Rachel got when she read the comment sections before her opening night. 

I’m glad that you’re getting to see them though. You’re definitely coming to the Chicago concert later on this year, right? I’ve got seats reserved for family and friends and it’s in a really great spot. You’ll be able to see the sweat on Beyoncé’s forehead and everything.

I already knew they would like you, Sam, cause you’re great. I’m happy to hear that the auditions went great. Getting new members always seemed to be hard when I was around, so I’m happy you’re not gonna have that trouble. I don’t know if I’ll be able to come home for the first competition, but I’m gonna be rooting extra hard for you guys.

Delicious, but deadly Mercedes! Oh, who am I kidding, I had pizza for dinner. I try to use moderation, though.

Don’t worry, I’ve had to be all about moderation on this tour. There’s a nutritionist that travels with us and she’s constantly on my case about staying healthy cause, as she said, “the last thing [I] need is to be replaced because [I] got sick”. I told her that Mercedes Jones could never be replaced. You don’t find this kind of talent just anywhere. Still, I’ve been mindful of what I’m eating, I just like to splurge now and then.

How is your single going?

It’s going great. I got the chance to go in the studio and work with the producer on one of the songs I wrote while on tour. I still have 3 more songs that I want to lay down before I head to Scotland.

Listen, when my manager said that we were gonna be busy and “getting to work”, I don’t think I knew what I was in for. I’m supposed to be on break for these two weeks, but if I’m not in the studio, then I’m in dance class or doing an interview or something. This man has me booked. I’m pretty sure I’m gonna have to start scheduling my bathroom breaks soon.

If you could be on any talk show, what would it be?

I’m gonna go with The Real. 

I grew up watching Tamera on Sister, Sister and I love her. I also love that she’s so open about her and her husband’s decision to wait until marriage to have sex. It’s great to see other women in the industry speak up about that and let others know that it’s not a weird thing. 

Tamar is just a messy mess and I love it! I went through a phase when I would say “dot com” or “dot org” because of her. Drove my mama nuts. 

And you know I gotta show love for my fellow animal print lover, Adrienne. Okay, so maybe she just played a character who loves animal print, but the Cheetah Girls is one of my favorite DCOM movie. Even if I refuse to admit the third movie exists. 

I’m not as attached to Loni and the other girl, I think her name is Janine or something, but they’re pretty dope too. So yea, I wouldn’t mind hanging and chatting with them.

In all seriousness, though, it was never an actual name in consideration. Kurt and I aren’t quite that cruel to our future children.

Oh, I’m sure of you guys won’t be cruel at all. I mean, you may embarrass them at some point in life, but I think all kids feel that way about their parents. Plus, I told Kurt once that I was planning on getting a multicolored animal print outfit for whatever child you have and he was not having it. Not that I was getting it to embarrass him or her or anything like that.

Oh goodness.. I feel like that changed a lot since Mase and I became Cheerios. There were still pressures, but it was more just to stay focused as a team and all.

I’m glad you had such a great experience. It wasn’t all bad. I stayed close to some of the girls that were on the squad after I left. A few of them even joined The Troubletones my senior year and performed with New Directions at competitions.

So, what's new in the world of Mercedes Jones these days?

Well, I just finished the first leg of the tour with Queen B. Now we have a two week break, so I’m heading back to Cali to record a couple of songs. I’m hoping to have at least a day or two of downtime before we start the European leg of the tour. I might schedule another spa day or something.

Do you drive a Mercedes?

I wish. Maybe once this tour is over I’ll be able to afford one.

What is the first thing you're gonna do after you win your first Grammy?

Call my mom! She’s my number one fan and she has always been in my corner. After that I’d probably call New Directions and celebrate with them. Kurt and Blaine have already agreed to be my dates for that night, but hopefully I’ll have someone else important there to hang with us.

There may have been discussion of a hypothetical superstar child of ours called Feta. But there are no actual plans, I swear.

Leave it to you guys to come up with a name like Feta. With celebrities naming their kids after fruits and map directions, yours really isn’t that weird.

I was only a cheerio for about a month or so and I can concur that it’s most definitely a sport.

Thank you! You wouldn’t believe how many people don’t think it should be considered as one. Why did you stop being one though?

The cheerleaders were great and all, but it wasn’t for me. In my short time on the Cheerios, I was pressured to lose weight and I felt like I had to become a completely different person because of the uniform. There were so many hierarchies that came along with being a Cheerio and being popular, I just didn’t feel like myself anymore.

Do you own any pets?

I do not. I’m way too busy. I barely have time for myself, so there’s no way I’m going to take on the responsibility of looking after a pet.
