Welp... I gone done dorked it all up. I’m working on making a hybrid custom with a Disney Princess Merida head and a curvy MTM Barbie. The trouble started when I tried to put the new head on the body. The neck hole was too small. I tried to widen the hole with my xacto knife and sliced the chin when my hand slipped. Only to find out the head didn’t fit snuggly enough. I didn’t want to risk breaking the neck peg or damaging the head further so I decided just to glue the two pieces together. I’ll lose the ability to move the head but I don’t want to waste the pieces. Super glue didn’t work, the hot glue gun didn’t work, so I resorted to epoxy putty. When it cures, I’ll sand it down and color match with paint and pastels. In the future I’ll try again with new dolls. I’m just mad at myself for the careless mistakes I’ve made. Tonight’s lesson: Be patient, you don’t have to do it all at once. I feel like singing the Dora the Explorer ending song “We did it!”. So pleased with the results. It’s far from perfect but I’m still learning and trying. I still need to make socks and shoes.
