My DIM Kadaj Minimee, a few very repetitive photos of his, all dressed borrowing my Mano's body. He would probably look okay on this body, if I had widened the neck opening. However, I didn't do that. I did widen it a bit but not enough for him to sit well on the neck. It's a 12.5cm neck, and while this head sculpt is on the smaller side of DIM Minimee heads, he is still quite large. Kadaj is not a tall character however, he is at around 5' 7-9" depending on how tall Square Enix thought Cloud was in Advent Children. They made everyone taller in Remake, so that Cloud wasn't as short (or so I believe. Just theoretically speaking, but they did change the heights of all to be much taller, now Sephy is like 6' 6", when he was originally 6' 1" in the OG FFVII game). However, Kadaj is a very young person in AC, at around fifteen or sixteen. Which is weird, because from what I understand, most tall people are the height they are going to grow to be in their teens, but I guess it's Japan trying to romanticize height, for some weird reason. My tallest nephew is 6' 4", he was that height since he turned 14... just saying.
I am super happy with him, I never had plans for him to have a body, he is not well proportioned on this body. However, I was able to take fully-clothed, full-body shots before. Now, my Mano's elastic is all loose. He doesn't stand, nor sit, nor pose well anymore. I don't trust him without a stand, so I have him sitting down while taking photos for all my photos so far. It is a pain in the gut hole, but I don't know when I'll be getting new elastic for him. I have restrung my BJD many times, as I used to redo their body shading a lot when I first got them a million years ago. However, I never purchased new elastic for any. I believe my SoulDoll Paris came with a replacement piece (I haven't checked, as I want to get through the dolls/heads I want to redo in some way, first). None of my others have any, so I'll have to invest some time and effort to purchase new elastic for all -- I don't want to purchase the wrong kinds, only for it to go to waste.
I love this Kadaj head sculpt, I feel he is a beautiful sculpt. They did a terrible job on the nose, because the person running the GO submitted their own line guides to DIM (without telling anyone else, nor asking for anyone's approval), and that made them just squish the nose thinner instead of actually making it more accurate. Oh well, I didn't learn about that until just a few years ago. He would have looked so much nicer with a proper Kadaj nose. T___T;;
Fanart of the only youtuber ever, Dollightful!
Today was a day of Kenergy...and Allan.
Someone at some point in the past decided to paint Ken No.1's head black. Following that, the black paint travelled and stained his face in various places. He had several Vanish Oxy baths and murdered my trusty Barbie cleaning toothbrush (may she rest in peace), but I got him to a point where he only had a few subtle stains. Nothing a few well placed freckles couldn't fix. I made him ginger, because why not?
Allan was in good condition with perfectly working bend-legs. He had some missing head paint, and a child who is probably now in jail had stabbed his head repeatedly with pins, so I did a thin layer of milliput over his head and painted his hair.
Ken No.2, my beloved wonk-eyed Ken was already repainted beautifully by caketin_dolls, but he had a lot of flock missing, so I just replaced that.
"What if I made the 1959 Barbie with a 2003 Polly Pocket?" I said,
"I can repaint her whole face, that definitely won't hurt my eyes!" I said.
Yeah, I really like the 1959 (first) barbie doll design, so I decided to have fun by making a tiny doll of it, rerooting her hair was surprisingly easy! I think I'll do more Polly pocket customization in the future...
If I ever find one with hair again!
Barbie doll size comparison below:
Can't say they don't keep each other company! Just a wip, I'm currently on the secon layer of the repaint, taking my time to try and not mess up too much 😆 (Don't mind the two up there, they're commissions that were in the repainting stage at the right time 👀💦) . . . #dolls #ooakdoll #ooak #dollcustom #customdoll #dollrepaint #repaint #dollcustomization #instadoll #artdoll #dollstagram #dollgram #customdollartist #dollobsessed #disney #dollcollector #disneydollrepaint #disneyrepaint #dollphotography #dollcollection #disneydollcustom #wipdoll #hercules #disneyhercules #herculesdisney #muses #disneymegara #megara #dollmod #repaintdolls https://www.instagram.com/p/ConOpZ1DAD7/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
My first custom Rapunzel doll.💕 She’s up for sale! $100 + shipping. I may not be able to ship her out until later this week since I’m still hoping to have one last photoshoot for her, But DM me if you’re interested! She has a 100% original faceup and a partial reroot. The last three pics show some slight imperfections. The nightgown is secondhand so it has a few little scuffs and a small mark on the front. And although I partially rerooted her to have longer hair I left most of her original hair in place, so sometimes the shorter hair peeks through, but It’s usually not noticeable! I made her to represent the movie scene where baby Rapunzel sneaks out of bed to watch the lanterns from her window, with the lanterns reflected in her eyes! 💛✨
" You try. You fail. You try. You fail. But the only true failure is when you stop trying." ~~👻~~ I've been dealing with some health stuff this last week, so I tried something new to get my mind off of it. I took a lot of inspiration from dollightful and friends to turn this dollar store doll and ornament into Madame Leota from The Haunted Mansion! (Movie version) It was a lot of fun to make, and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. #damsamiam #instaart #instaartist #dollcustom #dollcustomization #thehauntedmansion #madameleota https://www.instagram.com/p/CHduhzbDwLX/?igshid=tpgz9sfej7hl
