My Initial D secret santa gift for @tama-g0kid , hope you like it!
Ryosuke yawned, reaching for his coffee cup and bringing it to his lips, only to find it empty. Wrong cup. He put it back down between all the other empty ones. There were at least five. Taking the one with some of the drink still in it, and downed it in one gulp. Sigh. Time to make a new one.
That was the life of a med student, trying to remember as much as he could, going over cases to learn from, and of course, long sleepless nights to study the material. Currently, the only thing that was keeping him sane was the cinnamon scented candle burning on the window shelf, the wonderful smell providing him with a brief mental break from his studies when he needed it.
He sighed, getting up to make himself another coffee. As he stood in his kitchen, waiting for the water to boil, he started to think. He wanted to race again. It's been a while, but he needed to pass the exams. This was a difficult one, so sadly racing had to be put to the side for now.
But most of all, he missed Takumi. He really hoped he could take him on a date soon. The comfort he brought him was something he missed as well. His love made him feel.. whole. Like he was a person, a whole person. He no longer felt like a shell of a man around him.
The kettle klicked, signifying the water was boiled. Another sigh. He took the bag of instant coffee, and started to prepare it.
....
Takumi pressed down on the gas. He wanted to get back home as fast as possible, but as he drifted through the corners on Akina, he only wanted to drive more. It lit up a fire inside him that he couldn't put out. It felt good.
But he has been on Akina for so long. He has raced this pass so many times. He was going to go to Akagi. And maybe see if Ryosuke was still up. He missed him. He had a difficult exam coming up, and was forced to focus his all on studying. While Takumi wasn't too hopeful, Ryosuke's sleeping habits were worse than his, so he wouldn't be surprised if he was still up.
.....
The klacking of the keyboard of the keyboard was the only sound in his room. The candle, what was left of it, had burnt out. He was absorbed in his work, what he was doing had slipped even his mind, but he just wanted to get it done.
A message notification snapped him out of his focus. He reached for his phone and flipped it open. It was from Takumi.
"If you're still up, can I come over?"
Ryosuke was confused. Doesn't he have deliveries to run? And then go back home?
As Ryosuke began to type a reply, another message came in.
"I miss you."
Ryosuke sighed, then deleted what he was going to send.
"Sure thing. I'll wait for you at the door."
The night was silent, the only noise coming from the engine of the 86. Takumi was finally here.
Ryosuke smiled as Takumi made his way out of the car, then rushing towards him, pulling him into a tight hug. The hug felt so damn good.
Up in Ryosuke's room, each were holding their own mug of warm cocoa, wearing Ryosuke's comfiest pajamas. Takumi convinced him to give himself a break.
"Thank you, Takumi. You really made my night." Ryosuke mumbled as he took a sip. The stress of the world melted away. Right now he sat on a placid island of warmth and love. He wasn't going to be in it forever, but he might as well enjoy it while it lasts.
Takumi's hand brushed against his, and their fingers intertwined. A few moments later, their lips met in a soft kiss. He missed this so much.
....
"Big bro!" Keisuke's voice echoed through the house. Where the hell is Ryosuke? He's probably still asleep.
He walked up to the door to his room and slowly opened it, peering inside. He was about to yell to wake him up, but noticed another figure in his bed.
Next to his brother, he saw Takumi, curled up. Ryosuke seemed so peaceful. So much more peaceful than he usually was. He smiled, then closed the door.
"Sleep well, you two." he murmured as he left.
