Wrongful Dismissal in Toronto: First 48 Hours

That first hour after you're let go is a blur. What you do next matters, starting with not signing anything right away. HR often pushes for a same-day signature, but once you sign, you usually give up your right to challenge it later, even if you were owed more.

Your offer may only cite the ESA minimum, about one week per year of service, capped at eight weeks, when Ontario courts often award much more. Hold off posting publicly, and talk to a lawyer before deciding anything.
