The Thesis Experience – “WISELY “It will be conquered!
The New Media Journalism final class has been an adventure. It gave me the confidence to see how a story is structured and how to analyze areas of patterns and trends and incorporate that into the story, allowing the audience to see the story more broadly. The experience has been influential, overwhelming, and fulfilling at the same time. The course has many avenues that need to be conquered, such as the thesis. A thesis occasionally takes three months to years to complete. Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, and Reference are needed to accomplish this feat. When you think you know how things are structured, here comes the twist of deconstructing the project, explaining how each section came together and how the multimedia pushes the project into a better light.
Before beginning the thesis, extensive research was required to determine whether to write argumentatively, analytically, or expositoryly. During this time, many thoughts ran through my mind. This project made me feel anxious and inexperienced. I needed more exposure to this process. The learning process was engaging and interesting. Once the Introduction and Chapter 2 sections were done, it felt juvenile to me, and my first thought was to put more, but once the critique was made. I needed to trim and only expose the absolute. Everything seemed foreign, especially the writing of methodologies and evaluating analytic reports. The education focused on incorporating APA-formatted references into the thesis to strengthen the core. To help the readers consider the validation of the study, an array of multimedia was used, and infographics were used to push the narrative.
The action was tedious and sometimes challenging, but the activity was vital for my writing career. Writing for the Public Health Department of the federal government, you are always looking for better ways to stand out and make a splash, and that’s also true being a fiction author. I want to write on all platforms and have people view my work as credible and severe. The importance of credibility and trust in writing cannot be overstated. This action has pushed the envelope for me. In four weeks, I can see how much work can be accomplished if you have a topic of concern. If the target audience gets the core of the conversation, the subject is pushed into a great space, and that’s when you know trust is granted and you, as a writer, are credible, which means a lot.
