Here’s my thing about fighting in hockey. I love fighting—you know, like boxing and martial arts. (I feel conflicted about the current state and practices of these sports, but that’s not the point here.) The point here is that if I wanted to watch a serious fight, I could do that.

Hockey fights are not—and I need every man to repeat after me here—serious or important or cool or all that dangerous. They are irredeemably silly, and that is what is good about them.
