Love in a hopeless Place 40
Synopsis: She was barely grown up, when she stepped into the bar that was the center of Zaun's resistance. The people she met there would forever change her life, and one of them especially. Silco x reader/OC; first-person POV; overall rating: E for Explicit; canon-compliant (though I might make a stretch on the timeline here and there to make things fit my symbolism); age gap! (younger female, older male); 9 chapters; 45k; cis female reader/POV; no beta-reader; completed Chapter ratings/warnings: G for General, mentions of wounds and death, mentions of suicidal thoughts, present tense! Wordcount: 1.2k Author's note: Hi and welcome to the last part of my fanfic. I gotta admit, putting this down to paper and then into my computer and onto my blog has been quite the haze. I was writing this think like a mad man in under three weeks starting Jan. 3rd. Now I've published it completely on this side and by now it should also be already cross posted on ao3. HERE should be the link xD Thanks to everyone interested in my stupid story that I've first and foremost have written for my own pleasure. I don't know how many people this actually read here, I put this all in the queue and just let it run through but I hope, some of you liked this journey. Maybe once I'll come back to this story, work it over and fix the pacing (Act III is literally half of the story). But maybe I don't after all this is just a hobby. Maybe I didn't even get a single comment on this, who knows. I'm not tumblr famous or anything and if nobody decided to spread my writing, it might go down in Tumblr's nirvana. But I have it here forever, and that's fine. Comments would be appreciated! If anybody would be interested in seeing more of this universe, feel free to hit me up with questions or suggestions. I'm also willing to expand on Jinx's and Ekko's fate. (Timebomb for life!)

Chapter III
Part 2/3
The next few months went by in a haze.
First I found a small apartment with two rooms, a little kitchen and an en suite bathroom. Of course, I instantly wrote back home, but yet again I got no answer. With rent coming up, I would be left without any money.
Luckily, Roxanne soon really presented me with a job.
I could work for a hatter whose store was around 20 minutes by foot away from my new home.
He allowed me to work at home once the baby would be there and overall only needed my service three times a week. He didn't pay me much, but it was enough to pay rent and buy food.
I heard about horrible fighting in Piltover, but tried to shut the news out as good as possible.
Still, the rumors were what kept me hopeful.
My letters probably got lost in the chaos of the war. Soon it would all be over. Then they'd reach Silco and he would come get us.
At day, I was so busy that I had no time to ponder, but at night, sleep came very badly at me. I was sleeping on a sofa bed, as I wanted the bedroom to be the baby's room, and lying on it got more and more bothersome the more my belly grew.

Chapter III
Part 1/3
I had no idea the man I loved for 14 years died at the same time that I was on an airship to Demacia. I sat there between merchants and officials and couldn't help but let my tears fall.
Once in a while, a steward asked me if I was alright or needed anything, but what could they offer me to make the pain go away?
I eventually passed out and awoke to a clear blue sky the next morning. When we finally arrived at the port of Demacia, I was nervous to get through the control, but they checked my papers and let me pass.
Silco must have really pulled some strings to make this possible.
But what now?
I knew not a single soul in this city that was so different from where I came from. First I needed some place to stay, so I went looking for a cheap room.
My luggage was heavier than I anticipated, carrying it around everywhere, but I finally found a free, affordable room to stay at for at least a week.

Part 8/8
The next day I prepared my luggage for the travel and was informed, that my airship would start in two days already at 9 PM. But I had to pass the border by 7 PM before it would be closed for the night again.
The driver would bring me to the port and help me with my bags, but in Demacia I would be on my own.
So I couldn't pack too much, only the essentials, until I found a place to stay. Then I would message Silco, and he would send me everything I needed, from clothes to money.
As it was time for me to leave, Silco just arrived back from a long day out. He placed his coat on a hook and watched me walk behind the driver, who was carrying my two bags. He nodded at him, and the man left us alone. Placing his hands on my upper arms, he rubbed them slightly. "It's good that you leave, dear," he reassured me. His voice cracked slightly at the end.

Part 7/8
We didn't get the time to bask in our bliss for long. It was as if the universe just didn't allow us to be happy.
So only a few days later, I found Silco sitting on his side of the bed, already out of his vest, tie and shoes. His sleeves were neatly rolled to his elbows, his face rested in his hands. He hadn't been to bed the night before, and I hadn't seen him in over a day.
I wouldn't make a scene now, I was way too glad to see him in one piece again. "What's wrong, love?", I hummed and stepped between his legs.
He placed his head against my abdomen. "I almost lost her." "Huh?" I made puzzled, trying to get a look at his face but failed.
"Jinx. She almost died last night."
I sharply sucked in air. "What happened? Where is she? Is she alright?"
Silco pulled me closer again, burying his face in my dress. "I don't know," he muffled. "Singed said yes, but - I went looking for her everywhere. I couldn't find her."
"Singed," I murmured. "What did he do?"
"I don't know for sure," he admitted. "He sedated me."
We stayed like that for a long moment, me trying to add the missing pieces of his story, before Silco slowly pulled away from me.

I turned my head to face him.

"I've sent the driver for the doctor. And he better be here timely."
"You shouldn't have," I protested. "I'm fine. I told you, it's just the stress." As I was trying to get up, he firmly held me in place.
"You won't lie to me about this anymore, and I'll stay here until the doctor tells me, what you've got." His face was hard and didn't allow a no for an answer.
I threw my head against the armrest, huffing in annoyance.
Neither of us said a word until the door swung open. We both expected the doc, but it was Sevika.
She raised an eyebrow at us, shortly forgetting her concern. "Um," she regained her composure. "Boss, I need you downstairs real quickly."
"Can't you see, that I'm busy right now?", Silco sneered, but still got on his feet.

But soon I noticed, that the whole base seemed to be in uproar. I went to Silco's office, but he wasn't there.
Sevika, Jinx, nobody was to be found.
So I headed downstairs again, where the crew had just picked up their work of preparing for the next night. I went for Thieram who was dutifully polishing glasses behind the counter. "What's going on here?", I demanded to know. "Where is the boss?"
Thieram looked at me quickly and put glass and cloth aside. "I don't know for sure, but there was an explosion in Piltover last night. The boss was fuming when he heard about it. I think it was the scaremonger."
I gasped slightly and bit my lip in frustration. I nodded at Thieram and turned to leave again. "Don't let the boss hear you called Jinx that way," I advised him before getting back upstairs. If it was another problem with Jinx, I was better off letting Silco deal with it alone.
He knew how to handle his daughter and would later come to me to brag about his great handling of the situation.

Part 4/8
I hadn't been feeling well all day, and as I walked over the gallery, music already hammering from downstairs, I pressed my documents against my body to steady the tremor. As I approached Silco's office, the door suddenly flew open and almost hit me.
Jinx stormed out of the room, slammed her shoulder into mine, and just stormed on.
"Careful, kiddo!", I shouted past her and slipped into the office, where I found Silco in deep thoughts. "What was that?", I asked, placing the documents on his desk. I leaned against the heavy furniture, not able to stand straight on my own.
Silco didn't look at me, only took the papers I brought him and roamed them carelessly. "Jinx messed up big this time," he managed through gritted teeth, and I grimaced. "I told Sevika to keep a close eye on her. I'm just as fed up with her as I am with Jinx." He told me what had happened, and I listened carefully.
I lurked around the desk and found a comfortable position in Silco's lap. "I told you she was too unstable to send her to the field. She's smart, give her something to do around here. She can plan coups, but she shouldn't be involved." I took the papers out of his hands to make him listen to me. "Jinx still needs your guidance, and if you don't do well on her now, she'll never grow out of it."

Act III
Chapter II
Part 3/8
Two more of my birthdays came and went, and our life together didn't change much.
Jinx grew into a beautiful young woman.
I tried my best to convince her to cut her hair at least a little, as it would soon touch the ground, but she simply refused.
Silco let her have it her way, no matter what.
One day she was rummaging around our closet and pulled out a box with old and worn-out stuff, mostly from Silco and decided to just keep it. "Look at that! They fit like a - glove!" She cracked at her own joke as she extended her arms, her hands in Silco's old working gloves. "You used to have great taste, old man," she beamed, pulling out stubbed belts and tight-fitting pants.
I could just laugh at the sight of it. There were clothes, I hadn't even seen Silco in, and he was still wearing those belts when I first met him. "Look at this, you've been really quite the rebel in your youth, weren't you?", I hummed to his ear after Jinx had waltzed off to her "secret" hideout to make a new outfit out of the old stuff.

Part 2/8
As I expected, this night changed my whole life, and at first I didn't know how I liked that.
It soon went around that I was the woman at Silco's side. And such rumors didn't just come with favors. Many believed I was doing it for money, for the status or for the nice clothes. Secretly, they looked down on me more than before. Called me Silco's pet, and worse, behind our backs,
My co-workers suddenly stopped their conversations when I entered the room.
It seemed like I had no friend in the world left, except for Alex, who had been my closest alley, though all the years I knew them. They didn't like my decision to get back with Silco, but they would never judge me for it. They knew my heart. And again they threatened that their wrath would be unstoppable should he dare to hurt me again.
I soon didn't help at the bar anymore, instead, I hired a new bartender, Thieram. He did a fabulous job and soon degraded Kev to second in line, much to the latter's dismay, of course.
But I couldn't let affection or old bonds let my estimation get clouded. And Thieram just was the better choice.
Over the time, Silco entrusted me with all his financial matters, even the ones I tried to avoid at first.

Chapter II
Part 1/8
As I ran down the stairs, I avoided being seen by anybody else, but on my way out of the backdoor, I ran into Mimi.
"Oh my," she gasped, looking at my tear-stained face. She places both hands on my arms. "I heard you cry, Hun. What did he do to you?"
I avoided her worried gaze. "Nothing," I huffed. "I only saw a ghost from my past."
Mimi clicked her tongue. "Go home, Hun. Get some rest. Kev and I can handle this."
"It's fine, it really is. I just... Gimme 20 minutes outside. I need to cool down a little."
Mimi looked at me worried and still let me pass.
So I headed out the back door to get between the containers. I fumbled between the boles of a paneling and dragged out a hidden packet of cigarettes. Lighting one with shaking hands and taking a deep breath, I instantly felt my body relax. Yes, I had become a stress smoker over the last years. But my hidden packet sometimes lasted over a month. This day, though, I took two in a row. As I stepped the second one out, I felt that the tremor in my body had become better. I took a few more deep breaths before stepping back into the bar. I took the shift dutifully.
And the next one as well, and the next, and so on.

Love in a hopeless Place 33
Synopsis: She was barely grown up, when she stepped into the bar that was the center of Zaun's resistance. The people she met there would forever change her life, and one of them especially. Silco x reader/OC; first-person POV; overall rating: E for Explicit; canon-compliant (though I might make a stretch on the timeline here and there to make things fit my symbolism); age gap! (younger female, older male); 9 chapters; 45k; cis female reader/POV; no beta-reader; completed Chapter ratings/warnings: G for General, emetophobia tw Wordcount: <1k Author's note: And we've reached the main timeline of the Arcane series! *applause* The following parts might all seem a little rushed, but still this chapter is the longest and has alone like 10k words. And I mean we all watched Arcane, right? So no need to explain everything again. Plus, Arcane has a tradition of rushing endings just to stay within nine episodes, right? ;) Also, happy Valentine's Day! Comments would be appreciated!

Act III
Chapter II
