Psych-pop singer/songwriter Tamu Massif is sharing "Iron Lights", the latest preview of upcoming EP Bala.
And you, Helen, what should I give you? So many things I would give you Had I an infinite great store Offered me and I stood before To choose. I would give you youth, All kinds of loveliness and truth, A clear eye as good as mine, Lands, waters, flowers, wine, As many children as your heart Might wish for, a far better art Than mine can be, all you have lost Upon the travelling waters tossed, Or given to me. If I could choose Freely in that great treasure-house Anything from any shelf, I would give you back yourself, And power to discriminate What you want and want it not too late, Many fair days free from care And heart to enjoy both foul and fair, And myself, too, if I could find Where it lay hidden and it proved kind.
Edward Thomas
“I have a concept of Naples that is not so much of a city, per se, but rather an ingredient of the human spirit that I detect in everyone, Neapolitan or not.”

Tamu Massif is a vehicle for the imagination of Dave Dixon, a songwriter with remarkable patience.…
Premiering now over at Clash. Quite proud of this video.
Barbara York - Close to You
Tamu Massif - OK The new video for “OK” premiered over at Wonderland a couple of weeks ago: http://www.wonderlandmagazine.com/2016/08/video-premiere-tamu-massif-ok/ It was directed by @dominicclarke & stars my very talented friend Grace Jabbari. It’s the first video I’ve actually been in (edit: I realised that’s not true as I’m in a background shot in the video for Jejune / Selene). Whilst filming it I got completely soaked through as there was a torrential downpour as we were walking to shoot at a “location” in Notting Hill and I gave my coat to Dom to keep the camera dry. It took us about ten minutes to walk back to shelter, in which time I was drenched. As soon as we reached the place we’d left our bags, we were discussing what to film instead when we realised it had completely stopped raining. Luckily it didn’t rain again, but in my opening shots I was still dripping wet.
Tamu Massif is the pseudonym of Dave Dixon. He began as a more traditional singer-songwriter, writing his songs on guitar with nothing but strums, chords, and his smooth voice. Dixon later began to incorporate lo-fi production, bedroom-pop leanings, and some alluring psychedelia into his tender acoustic pleas. "Holding Back," his latest one-off following his stellar debut EP Alba, is a mini-retracing of the evolution of his sound. The song begins in delicate solitude with Dixon's feathery vocals floating beautifully in and out of sparse guitar. It slowly builds into an exquisitely layered excursion, with stuttered, glitchy digital blips, cleverly syncopated drums, and full, gorgeous harmonies. He sings "You say it isn't so, but I know that you're holding back, you're moving on," and him coming to terms with someone slipping away from him parallels the slow building aesthetic perfectly. The initial sadness of his realization that his partner is no longer his turns into confidence as the
been bedridden the past few days but I’ve ticked a few films off my watchlist.

BEST OF 2015- ARTIST LISTS
TAMU MASSIF (Dave Dixon) gifted us with a lush 4-track EP titled Alba earlier this November. Here is his best loved tracks of the year along with a bonus favourite video. Enjoy!
Axe - The Naturals
The Naturals finally got ‘round to releasing their debut album after over a decade of playing together and this was my favourite track. I love every element of it. It sits in its own genre and it’s fucking sick.
Letter By The Water- The Japanese House
It’s hard to choose a favourite song from her two EP’s as I really do love every track. Her voice makes me die inside in the best way.
Pretty Pimpin - Kurt Vile
The lyrics in this are great. Laid back and effortlessly cool.
Atom Dance – Björk
To be honest, I’d never really liked Antony’s voice before but it really works in this one. It’s a stunning album. The song is a journey; and it’s beautiful.
REALiTi - Grimes
I preferred the original “demo” version in the video she released. Apparently it was from a scrapped album she made. I assume the rest can’t have been this good. I had it on repeat for weeks.
She Notice Me - Young Thug
My favourite from the Slime Season mixtapes - and there were some real hits on both. His delivery is so unique but so compelling.
Leaving the City - Joanna Newsom
Joanna Newsom is one of my favourite lyricists for sure. I saw her live for the first time in October and she didn’t disappoint. I love the lo-fi trumpet synth sound in this and her delivery is emotive as ever.
Elastic Heart - Sia
Another that I listened to on repeat. I love her voice. The music behind it combines the best elements of sample led and beats driven mainstream pop (which I’ve been really into this year). I thought the video was beautiful too.
Where Are Ü Now? - Justin Bieber
I found it really difficult to choose between Sorry, What Do You Mean and I’ll Show You - I was tempted to put all four in the list.. I think this might be my favourite of them though. The golden boy is working with some pretty awesome producers. The way the beats develop in this is so good.
Love For That - Mura Masa feat. Shura
I love Shura’s solo stuff and her voice works so well with Mura Masa’s production.
B O N U S: Video of the Year:
Hotline Bling - Drake
this is v good. It came on recommended from a friend’s track on soundcloud and I was loving it before realising it’s another friend’s track. That’s not me bragging - that’s me demonstrating that I loved it from an unbiased perspective. Reminds me of Bennie and the Jets meets Destroyer. My man Tom is one of the best lyricists around.
