Someone asked me an important question. A question that struck my soul like none other, he was not trying to. He just did. “if you could relive your life from any moment forward; without knowing what your life would look life past that; what would it be?” I stood there thinking, I stood there going through all the pleasantries of my life. I remained quiet as he patiently awaited my answer, after another moment he looked over in curiosity. There he saw a single tear that escaped the pain I was holding back. The truth was there has never been a single moment of pleasantry in my life that was not punctuated by absolute tragedy. No love left untainted, no happiness left un-ruined, No venture that ever ended well, no victory with my name on it. The only victory I ever had was waking up the next day and having a place to go to bed at the next night; that was victory for me. He didn’t say anything after that, I think the aura that fallowed that tear let him know enough. He nodded and said, “Sorry…” I nodded back unable to speak as my chest felt as if it were about to buckle; as the entirety of my life had pressed heavily upon it.
