Things you may not know about the legendary South African actor John Kani, who play’s T’challa’s Father/King T’chaka in Black Panther.

He lost his left eye to a beating he received from Apartheid Police and wears a glass prosthetic eye.

in the mid 1980′s, he performed in a play called “Miss Julie in Cape Town” Half of the audience walked out of the production when he kissed a white woman on stage – an act that resulted in death threats and an assassination attempt, in which he was stabbed 11 times.

in 1985, he lost his brother who was killed whilst reading a poem at a funeral when Apartheid police started shooting up at the mourners.

all of this happened in a minority ruled white supremacist country formed ON land where his people where the natives and the majority, apartheid “ended” in 1994.

fucked up how the “bad guy” in toy story 2 was just an adult toy collector and toy store owner whose only crime was getting a good deal at a yard sale 

not only that but his “evil plan” was to send woody and the other toys from woody’s line to a museum for preservation

dude winds up losing his entire livelihood and going bankrupt and sobbing on live television all because he wanted to preserve a piece of history in a museum

Andy’s mom clearly said Woody wasn’t for sale and kept him in a locked box so nobody could take him. Al distracted Andy’s mom with a skateboard crash and then proceeded to pick the lock on the box and stole him.

the best part about stranger things is that they can’t solve anything until they put the three groups together because each group is acting within a separate genre

mike, lucas, dustin, and el are in a weird sci-fi coming of age story where the group of plucky misfit kids solve the mystery and test their friendship along the way

nancy and jonathan are in a horror movie where the teenagers have to kill the monster set against a backdrop of high school drama and romance

joyce and hopper are in a conspiracy thriller where the adults have to figure out what shady stuff the government is up to while also dealing with the difficulties of their personal lives

they all approach the issue within the confines of their genre, but none of those approaches work because none of them are seeing the whole picture. it’s only when all the threads start to converge that they can actually get anything done.
