Hello Hello

I’m back and probably going to be here for all the funs and silliness

Quick Update on Life: 

* I’m married now! And I’ve moved to a different state * Still working on becoming a doctor * Currently sick  * We got a kitten - his name is Simba and he’s cute * Life is going okay other wise.

I removed myself from Tumblr for a bit, mostly because I was turning to it anytime I wanted to be distracted and because I was also using it as another way “to spend time with God” when I really wasn’t. I’m back now, at least periodically. 

I can’t even remember when was the last time I posted here. A lot has happened in the span of that time for sure. I complete a few rotations, took some exams, one of the proposals finally worked out (thank you God), and I’m sitting here looking forward to my last rotation of third year. It’s crazy. Maybe one day I’ll write an actual blog post, but until then, this will do.

Love without Sex

As all of you who watch this show know it’s on the bubble for renewed or cancelled and we all know renewal depends entirely on the good will of networks. We can’t just sit back and wait for NBC to renew it when the fans don’t do anything to help. Yes, I know we all talk about it, I know we tweet about it on Monday nights, but we can do better. 

So in face of this new letter Eric Kripke posted, I decided to make this post and gather help. Last episode had  HUGE drop from episode 10 and this is due to so many people thinking the season ended with the Winter finale. It wasn’t a normal drop from one episode to another, it was significant. I adore this show, it’s my favorite show right now and I’d be heartbroken to see it go.

1) Let’s try to make it trend next Monday. There’s a LOT of tweets during episodes, so why we never trend? Last Monday there was over 20k tweets, we can do better. Add #Timeless and #RenewTimeless to ALL your tweets. Try to post as often as you can during the episode and after. Tweet @NBCTimeless, @NBC and @Sony to let them know how you feel.

2) Tell your friends! Tell your family! Tell everyone you know to watch it. Make your own promotion. We all know the rating system SUCKS and only people with the Nielsen box counts, so lets make this show reach them! Even if you’re from outside the USA you still have friends from there, be it on twitter, facebook or here on tumblr. Get people to watch! We are the best marketing any show can have. 

3) FOR THE LOVE OF GOD let people know season 1 ISN’T OVER. I have seen so many questions of when season 2 would start that I knew this episode would have a drop in ratings. Even people who watched the episode thought it was season 2! So let’s do what we can to let them know.

4) If you follow me and don’t watch the show, please give it a chance. It’s educational, it’s fun, it’s silly, it has so much diversity and so much respect for this diversity that it’d be a shame to see such a show off the air. YOU WILL NEVER SEE SO MUCH DIVERSITY DONE RIGHT IN ONE SHOW AGAIN. It’s something that you can watch with your family, that you can watch with your significant other, it’s a show you can watch with your kids, or jut watch alone and freak out over ships, over complex bad guys, over badass women that save Delta Force soldiers, over black guys defying historic racism, over intelligent girls that are treated as intelligent, about people driven by love for the ones they lost, it’s a show that in the end of the day is all about family.

5) PLEASE PLEASE WATCH TIMELESS!! If you can watch it live, please do it! If you can’t, DVR it, don’t leave it up to on demand, record it and watch it as many times as you can. These next 5 weeks are CRITICAL for the future of the show and we need to do something before it’s too late!

I believe I’m in the middle of a storm right now. I’m gripping the edge of my makeshift boat, fearing the tossing waves, my eyes glued to the horizon where I see another storm approaching.  The only peace I can find is in either sleep or in prayer, both of which I lack.

When I took some time to pray today, I found peace in God’s presence. I also knew that I couldn’t stop praying for those who really needed it. I have to keep asking again and again until God moved. I need him to have mercy and extend grace. I need him so badly that I feel like if he doesn’t show up soon, it’s all going to fall apart. But I know that he’s working and I know that he is good.

During my time in prayer, Psalm 136 came to mind, so I read it afterwards. The verses that stuck out were these:

23 It is he who remembered us in our low estate,     for his steadfast love endures forever; 24 and rescued us from our foes,     for his steadfast love endures forever; 25 he who gives food to all flesh,     for his steadfast love endures forever.

And from these verses I’m reminded of these things: God remembers us, even in our darkest, lowest moments. He’s there to save us from even the worst enemies, and he will still take care of our even most minor needs, like the food we are to eat. And in the midst of all this pain, we are reminded that his love does indeed endure forever. I hope you all remember this today, even as I continue to remind myself of this daily.

He trusted God

“He trusted God, so let God rescue him now if he wants him! For he said “I am the Son of God”.” – Matthew 27:3 

These words popped out to me today. I’ve been reading through the book of Matthew at a snail’s pace (literally, I think I started back in February or March and it’s three weeks until the end of the year now) and I’m finally getting to the end of the book. Right now, Christ has been crucified – his body beaten and torn, his clothes gambled away, and now the crowds of people around him are laughing at him.  Then the religious leaders start hurling their insults. He’s the Son of God right? Why can’t he save himself? Or why doesn’t God save him? He trusts God, a load of good that did him!”

Then I started thinking about myself. I try to inform people that I am a Christian, and I truly trust God. I believe that he’ll come through in a tough situation- when everything else seems bleak and nothing is as I think it should be, God will still have a plan. I believe in this. I trust in him. I am a daughter of God.

But then the trial comes.

The pain comes

The ridicule comes

The doubt from others trickles through.

What then?

What do any of us do?

Here’s the reminder: there’s a bigger plan that God has in the works.

Somewhere through the pain, Christ knew that there was a greater plan. It must have hurt so much that his Father did not come running immediately to take him off that cross. And it hurts to know that sometimes God doesn’t always come running at full force when we face our own difficulties. That sometimes the waves don’t calm down. The pain doesn’t stop. The situation doesn’t change.  

Because God knows that through that moment, something greater will come.

Something more beautiful.

So don’t falter in your trust with God. Speak life over yourself. Speak truth. And know that there is a bigger picture than what you see in the here and now. 

Trust God and know that you are his precious child.
