Regarding the polyglot thing, I speak both English and Dutch on a native speaker level, and seek to improve my skills in French, German, Japanese, (Mandarin) Chinese, Korean, Italian and Yoruba. There’s a ton of other languages I’m interested in but those will have to wait, I suppose.

Opposing a country’s government’s actions =/= Opposing the existence of entire groups of people on the basis of their shared religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation etc.

For the record, I’m from a country that likes to pretend it was so terribly heroic during WWII yet relatively it handed over the most Jews to the nazis, and I believe that should be openly acknowledged by the government to start.

To make it very simple: Just because I say I like bananas does not mean I hate apples. Just because I point out the wrongs of entity A does not mean I complete ignore or try to justify the wrongs of entity B. It’s this “if you’re not with me you’re against me” mentality, unfortunately, that leads to name-calling and finger-pointing, blocking any productive discussion.

Anyone else notice that Eurovision in 2022 had no qualms about banning Russia from the contest because of its invasion of Ukraine but was totally ok with letting Israel participate in 2021 even as that country was busy bombing the Gaza strip at that time?

Right. Let's just break this down a little bit.

1. "Giorgia is always imitating Vic." LMAO Giorgia is literally older than Vic and has had a career before she even met Vic. She's been her own unique self since day one, flaws and all.

2. "Vic is an all shaved blonde with small breasts." Yeah she is blonde. And she chooses to shave herself. And her boobs are small but fantastic as they are. But does that mean that because Giorgia is brunette who chooses not to shave and has bigger boobs automatically makes her "tacky"? "Cheap"? U have a problem with brunette women? Maybe there's a hint of racism there? Blonde = white = superior? Hmm food for thought. Also, having body hair is absolutely natural, it means u have been through puberty. Otherwise it wouldn't exist in the first place! Some people embrace that and some people feel more comfortable when they're hairless - it could have to do with sensory reasons or aesthetic reasons or literally any reason. That doesn't make one or the other superior or inferior. But if someone is terrified of seeing body hair on a woman, and is going so far as to call her "vulgar", I want u to think why this is happening. Is there a chance that u feel uncomfortable with body hair because that's what u have been taught by the media, the same media that made Lolita attractive to the male gaze even though she was a simple child in Nabokov's original story? Maybe u think women should be infantilised to be somehow "classy" and "pure"? Hence the boob size comment? Is there something bigger hiding behind these statements, other than ur typical misogynistic motives?

3. "Pink is not her color". Are we looking at the same picture? At the same person? Pink is, in fact, clearly her color because she wants it to be. This is how it works.

Overall, people are pretty fucked in the head and they're not even aware of it to hide it somehow. They really just let it all out.

I’d like to add that nitpicking on anything Gio does will do nothing to do endear you to the members of Måneskin, not even when you try to mask your envy over her dating Damiano as concern. Also, can we please stop pitting women against each other? As you say, @teatrodellavita , Gio having bigger boobs than Vic and not shaving does not make the former “vulgar” . Both are grown women who just happen to have differing body types.

I just realized when Ethan is talking about meeting the band in that ET Canada interview, he says he knew on the first day that they would be his band for life, and Damiano says “The first day.” And Ethan says, “What?” Damiano then says, “The first day, and the best day.” And Ethan says, “The best day. Yeah, the best day.” Awwww.

But also, Vic says, “Aww…cute baby.” and Thomas says, “Aww…you’re the best Ethan.” And they are all adorable.

Ethan may not qualify as smol height-wise but he is definitely smol in terms of behaviour.

Finally watched the “Supermodel” vid and I think it’s boring? It could’ve been so much more than Må chasing some girl, especially given the lyrics. The quick cuts of the members making out with everyone at the party also felt out of place. If it had been the “main character” (the girl) of the vid doing that it would’ve been more coherent imo as the song lyrics are about the *supermodel’s* “irresponsible” behaviour, among other things. I suppose it needed to have a “signature” Må moment, but it seemed shoehorned in. 

By contrast I absolutely love the “so overtly sexual it’s camp” approach they went for in the IWBYS and Mammamia MVs (with violence in the latter as well; I could watch Vic bloodily stab Damiano for days ). Those vids feature only the band members as main characters. Which brings me to my next point.

The “Supermodel” MV can’t seem to decide whether the main character is the titular supermodel or the band members.  I think the vid would’ve been much better if the latter hadn‘t appeared in it at all as the band is just going to outshine anyone who is presented as a main/focus character alongside them. It would also have been more effective in driving home the point of the lyrics, I think. 

The song is good but generic. The MV is a straight-up disappointment.

One of the most infuriating arguments I’ve come across for Roe v. Wade being overturned is that women should learn to take responsibility for having unprotected sex. Which is all fine and dandy except that grown women don’t need to be disciplined like children for not wanting children, even after unprotected sex. You’re reinforcing the idea that any woman who wants sex in whichever way simply for pleasure is evil. That argument definitely doesn’t hold up when we’re talking about a legally underage woman.

You are still assigning more value to something that does not have agency as a person to an actual person that does have agency.

My heart goes out to women in the US but god am I glad I don’t live there. Apologies if my thoughts seem incoherent but I felt like I had to say something.
