Amy Pond - The God Complex

Today, we’re looking at one of my favourite Amy Pond looks. Anything screen accurate is out of print and almost impossible to find, unless you regularly check Ebay. Bad Wolf Closet has a post with the screen accurate items if you’re interested. If you aren’t fussed about 100% accurate, I’ve put together some decent alternatives for you. 

1. Blouse. I couldn’t find any that were long at the back, but from what I’ve heard, most people cosplaying this look tend to just substitute a cream blouse or shirt. Sportscraft have nice looking one for currently only AU $29.00. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 they are currently not delivering internationally. Another decent alternative is this one from Simon Jersey, however, it is white and not cream. Surprisingly, it was hard to find many cream alternatives that were a reasonable price - most were $50 plus. 

2. Undershirt. For this, it was hard to find anything in the exact colour but I found some in similar shades. Kmart Australia have one for only AU$2.00. With this item, most discount clothing stores and op shops/charity stores are likely to have similar in both colour and price. 

3. For her jacket, it was actually quite hard to find anything similar as that style of jacket is currently out of fashion. A vaguely similar option is this one from Ally Fashion. The only other one that I could find is unfortunately AU$399. If I find any other cheaper options, I’ll them here later.

4. For the skirt, I found couple of option on Boohoo. This one goes up to size and 18 this one has sizes 16-24.

5. With the tights, unfortunately Topshop (where Amy’s were from) currently don’t have any in a similar colour at the moment, but I was able to find some with a similar colour from Love Leggings. UK Tights also have some in two different shades of orange - paprika and arancio.

6. Her boots are Doc Martens 1914 Triumph which are quite expensive but good quality and will last for years. Unfortunately, Doc Martens no longer have the Triumph range, they still sell the 1914 style, but only in black. Sole Trader have some brown 1914 Doc Martens, but they are  £119.99 - which is average price for this style.

If you can’t afford that, I also found some cheaper options which are not Doc Martens, but still decent. Light in the Box have some in a similar shade of brown and ship worldwide. Yokest have Doc Martens Triumph for only US$49.99, which a lot cheaper than I was expecting for genuine Doc Martens.

Susan Foreman - Dalek Invasion of Earth

This time we’re visiting the very first companion of the Doctor, his granddaughter Susan. This look is relatively simple to put together and could easily worn as every day wear.

1. The shirt. Given the fact that this story is in black and white, you could easily chose any colour for this. I did find a colour still from this story and I’m fairly sure her shirt is black and purple striped, but I cannot find it now (If I find it, I will add it to this post later). Colour aside, I have been able to find some decent alternatives. Shein has a black and white striped one for only  AU$10.95. Target (Australian) has long sleeved navy and white top that would definitely feel at home in Susan’s wardrobe. 

2. Pants. These were most likely black, but I’ve found some in a couple of different colours anyway. ASOS has a reasonable range of suitable pants that would work well, such as these and they’re only AU$18. They also have these ones too. If you wanted to another colour other than black, Harris Scarfe has some in navy (although they are on clearance so they may not be available for long). Unfortunately however, Harris Scarfe only deliver with in Australia. For other options, I was able to find some suitable ones from here which are little more pricey at  29.95€ and they only seem to ship to Europe. This place however ships worldwide. Again, another option is your local opshop/thrift store.

3. Shoes. I couldn’t find a decent photo, but it looks she was wearing, a pair of sneakers with this outfit. Again I can only guess at the colour but they appeared to be a light colour such as cream or white. These are relatively easy find cheaply in places such as Target or Kmart and other cheap shoe stores. As for online, Famous Footwear have these ones for AU $29.99 (I feel the name of these is fitting as the Doctor called Susan a little monkey in this story), but they only ship to Australia and New Zealand. Shein also have some for a decent price and ship worldwide.

Thirteenth Doctor - Main

1. The coat. I was able to find a couple of options that weren’t too expensive and fairly screen accurate. 

Cosplay Company has one that seems to be closest and isn’t too expensive -  £59.99; that’s AU$107.85 and US$74 The company also has both variations of 13′s striped shirt, a pant and braces combo and the option to buy the full outfit. They also ship worldwide. They have sizes S-XL available.

HotTopic also have her coat available here on sale for a reasonable price. They also have plus sizes available (It seems most sizes are currently sold out however, but they may get more - I will update this to let you know). As with Cosplay Company, they also have both of her striped shirt available.

2. The Shirt. As mention above, Cosplay Company has both versions of 13′s shirts available here and here. It’s priced between  £14.99 – £18.99 depending on which size you buy.

HotTopic also has her shirt, but only the navy blue one. You can find it here and here. It’s currently on sale, so it may not last much longer.

3. Pants/Culottes and braces

The pants may be the most difficult part to find, in terms of colour accuracy, but I feel that if they are at least medium blue type colour then they will be fine if you aren’t fussed on them not being 100% screen accurate. Again, the Cosplay Company as come through, and they offer a set of her trousers and braces for only  £25.99. However, people have noted in reviews that they a bit more green than hers.

One alternative I found are these ones here from Princess Highway. I have have these ones, and even though they may a bit too blue, I think they still work well. I did have trouble finding other alternative’s online, but depending on where you live you local op shop/thrift store may have something. 

For the braces, ThreadPepper have some that seem to be fairly screen accurate, but they are  £29.99 GBP (parts of them are leather). For these ones,  you would need to sew buttons to the inside of the waistband of the pants in order to wear them though. If you don’t want to go to that effort or simply cannot afford them, you can also get clip on ones from places like ebay, and stores that sell cheapish suits and costume stores. This place has them for only AU$8.99 and do also offer international shipping.

4. Socks and boots: For the socks, RedBubble has some available for a good price (plus, you’ll be supporting an artist!). TheWhoShop also has some, which are 64% cashmere and are little more pricey -  £34.99. These ones are made by the same people who made the ones worn by Jodie! I couldn’t find any other socks that had a similar colour or stripe, but I feel with the socks one could easily play around with other colours. I have rainbow ones for example.

For the boots, you’re pretty much spoilt for choice in terms of where to look. Pretty much every sells brown combat boots. If you can’’t find combat boot specifically, then almost any brown lace up boot with a low heel will see you through.
