so I’m sitting her prepared to freehand a post about, i don’t know, maybe about my good mood, or how i’m excited to see where this blog is going to end up... it already feels good having an outlet. hopefully it’ll be a therapeutic. 

anyway, i was hanging out with my fiancé and our cousin, vibin’ out to some music. i felt inspired by the song that was playing, but then i realized i didn’t recognized the artist i was listening to, so i asked who it was, and kassey, my cousin, tells me that it’s post malone, and suddenly i felt an immense sense of betrayal from my own ears... okay, so it wasn’t,  like, life shattering, but i definitely felt bamboozled. 

kassey peeped my sudden disinterest in the song, and he questioned if my disgust was the result of popular opinion on post malone, in which he is considered a culture vulture and just flat out covert racist which is sort of a noximoron within itself. and you know something? i normally don’t concern myself with the race of a musician I'm feeling too much... i say that like I don’t have playlists on apple music called, “black girl magic,” and “black boy joy,” but i digress.

i responded to kassey’s question, by saying that i recalled his interview on the breakfast club, in which he showed a blatant disregard for the very culture he was appropriating. he was totally detached from important social topics such as the black lives matter movement and gun control. ignorantly relishing in his white privilege. even going as far as dismissing the likes of jay-z, kendrick, janelle monaé, j.cole, chance, noname, joey badass, asap mob, rhapsody, wale,  to name a few, by saying, “if you’re looking for lyrics, if you’re looking to cry, if you’re looking to think about life, don’t listen to hip-hop.”

I love listening to  trios gymnopedies on quiet day... there’s something so spiritual about it. haunting even.

I easily slip into a trances or balance emotions where I’m just me in the moment.

photography has made me realize that I’m a very impatient person. 

i’m blowing through my film stock.

i probably visit tony & connie at accurate photo in brooklyn about every other week.

i don’t like waiting for something to happen. i don’t like uncertainty. 

i become obsessive with what i'm learning; needing more and more details. 

that’s how i got to know comic books so well. 

it goes deeper than that, though. i realized that i rush everything i do. 

and that’s my own fault, i’m a huge procrastinator. 

i think that's why i quit a lot of things. 

if it takes too long to get to the next level, i loose discipline and then interest. 

but photography teaches me to cherish each shot. 

to be in the moment.

to understand father time and mother earth are yin and yang.

she turns and he flies and nothings is ever not moving and this moment is the youngest i’ll ever be again.
