Quick question: What about the tribal communities which do not have birth certificates? Not having one wouldn't mean it's okay to kill them, and of course they would still be people deserving of rights even if they don't have a birth certificate. Some people outside of those communities also just don't get a birth certificate right away and sometimes it takes a while. But of course it would be wrong to kill them while they wait for a birth certificate right?

The issuing of a legal document that is not present everywhere in the world for every single human being is certainly not what makes someone human nor what makes it right or wrong to kill them.

So, what exactly is the use for this argument? What do you believe it means?

When we're talking about abortion, we should say "pro-choice" and "anti-choice" instead of "pro-choice" and "pro-life".

Anti choice is quite inaccurate though. I am pro-many choices. In fact, probably most choices. Just now the ones which harm or kill an innocent human being

However, I am pro-life, wholly and completely. Everyone must be given the right to life and everyone should be taken care of. Pro-life is simply a much more accurate term

Id you want accurate and unambiguous terms, pro-abortion and anti-abortion would be best

I think that in any case where the government is unjustly restricting the freedom of bodily autonomy for actions which cause no harm to others would be wrong. However, we already have many laws that restrict what you can and can't do with your body because certain actions harm other people. Like I cannot choose to make my body drunk and then get behind the wheel of a car, or I cannot use my body to suffocate someone. We can make decisions over our bodies so long as those decisions do not harm others or violate their rights

It's bold and immensely inaccurate to say that every pro-lifer lives a luxurious privileged life where nothing ever goes wrong

I am pro-life, and the hardship that I have experienced is nearly insurmountable. To say that because I believe that all human beings must equally be given their rights without any discrimination means that I am privileged and have never suffered is presumptuous and insulting

Now, of course not every woman could easily afford to raise a child through all eighteen years of their life and possibly more. Poverty is a very real and very difficult situation to be in. I am not denying that

According to the most recent global data from UNICEF, over 140 million children worldwide have lost either one parent (known as "single orphans") or both parents (known as "double orphans"). Between 3-9 million children currently live in institutions, orphanages or children's homes globally, despite many having at least one living parent. Do you want to add more to that simply for your own moral convenience?

At the usual time of pregnancy termination, three months, the brain hasn't even developed their own sections yet! let alone achieving consciousness! It isn't sentient. it isn't alive.

The Pregnancy Mortality Surveillance System (PMSS) defines a pregnancy-related death as a death during or within 1 year of the end of pregnancy from any cause related to or aggravated by the pregnancy. 2021 featured a wopping pregnancy related mortality count of 1,222. Would you rather have more people die from pregnancy complications because of you.

Do you know how much pregnancy fucking sucks? Some people might just not want to have to shove an entire godamn human out of their uterus. It's not even like all babies will be aborted. It is not mandatory.

If you're so pressed about abortions, maybe you should focus on getting rapists, of whom's victims are most often the ones who want abortions, convicted or furthering healthcare's outreach or expanding medicinal knowledge of birth and birth processes or— HELL —you should be advocating for sexual protection to be more normalized. not arguing baselessly on a tumblr post.

1. Of course I do not want more children to be orphans. It is a tragedy. Any child in such a situation needs support and care and we often fail to do that adequately. That is an immense error of our society and I strongly believe that we need to do better. Having said that, I do not believe that the solution to suffering is eliminating those who suffer. We do not solve suffering by ending the lives of people who are or may be suffering or may suffer in the future

2. That is true. At that stage, the brain has not yet fully developed. What is very interesting despite this is that brain waves in a fetus can be detected through EEG around 6 to 7 weeks of development. That is incredibly early on. And yes, the fetus is not sentient, but if something is growing and developing, isn't it alive? They are alive. A fetus meets all the biological criteria for life. If they were not alive, they would be unable to grow, develop, or die

3. That is also a tragedy and I think that we do not put enough time, effort, and money into improving maternal care and that is something that needs to change. Healthcare for women in general is something that is significantly underresearched and underfunded. That is something I advocate for changing. I absolutely do not want more women to die. I also do not want children to be killed by abortion

Abortion happens to be one of those things. 1.1 million abortions happen a year in just Canada and the US alone, and an estimate of 73 million globally. That is 73 million human beings who are the victims of a grave injustice against them every year. That is a significant number, and just as we are all responsible to fight against any other injustice, we are all responsible to fight against that.

7. That definition is correct. A fetus is a preborn human being. A fetus is a young human who has yet to exit the womb. "Young" is defined as an organism in the early stages of development, which applies to a fetus perfectly. It is not inaccurate to refer to a fetus as a young human being

Cutting your hair does not end a life. An abortion does. It is also inaccurate to say that the fetus is part of the mother's body. If a woman is pregnant, she does not have two hearts. She only has one, and she is carrying a baby who has one. If a woman is pregnant with a boy, she does not suddenly have a penis as part of her body. The fetus has their own unique and distinct DNA from the mother, and they can even have a completely different blood type. A fetus is a human whole of their own, not a part of someone else's body.

And yes, I am pro women's rights. Women must have equal human rights to everyone else. It is estimated that around 2% of global abortions are specifically against female fetuses because they are female. That means that out of 73 million global abortions per year, nearly 1.5 million are specifically aborted for being female. There are about 39-43 million girls missing from the world since 2000 because they were aborted for being girls. Anyone who supports women's rights must condemn that. I do also believe that gender roles should not be legally enforced, but I don't see how that is relevant to this particular conversation. The reason I am against abortion is because I firmly believe that all human beings must be given basic fundamental human rights, and that anything that violates those human rights is an injustice. If we decide that certain human beings do not get rights based on any characteristic, we are committing discrimination.

I specifically want to say that i brought up gender roles because women (and everyone else with uteruses) being forced to have a child that they don't necessarily want would force many into the traditionally female role of homemaker.

Look, I can very well agree with some of your points, and while I can completely understand your view. I think when it truly comes down to the nitty gritty of it, you are more desperate-situationally pro abortion. because you do have your reasons.

My main thing is that the ability to have an abortion should a viable option. for alive, thinking, feeling people who have lives. at the cost of those who have not yet lived, or thought, or felt yes, but you cannot value theoretical lives over currently living people

I can understand that comparison you are making. I would say however that when it comes to pregnancy and abortion, the situation is a bit different. And keep in mind that I am not saying that a woman must raise her child. It is equally as good for a woman to entrust another person with caring for her child, especially if she knows she cannot care for them

please listen to me please. it is very well possible i may be raped one day, considering the way the world's going. Do you really want me to have to go to a clinic and have to tell them that i was sexually violated and how i was in detail as proof so that I. a minor. won't have to give birth to a baby I will likely abandon anyway. isn't it better to save that kid the pain of being hated by their only parent for whatever the amount of time they have to live???

That would be an incredibly devastating and terrible situation and I seriously hope that you never find yourself in a position like that. As someone who has been victimised myself, I recognise that no one deserves that and any perpretator of sexual violence must be punished much more than they currently are. I would also like to let you know that there are supports out there and you can get help. If anything were to happen, God forbid, always remember that it would never be your fault and you are valuable and deserving of care and love

Now to respond in more depth to your point. I believe that human rights must always be applied to all human beings, regardless of any arbitrary characteristics of who they are (such as sex, race, ethnicity, age, location, disability, etc.). The idea that we can consider a certain class of human beings "not people" based on any of those characteristics, and therefore deny them human rights, is discrimination. If we say that because a certain group of human beings look a certain way, are in a particular location, or are very young that we should deny them basic fundamental rights, we are committing a grave form of injustice.

It is never okay to kill another innocent human being, and it is never okay to deny someone the right to life simply because of how young they are or where they are or how developed they may be. Abortion is a significant human rights violation and it is never justifiable

The Pro-Life Movement Does Work

I work for a pro-life organization at the moment and in just 30 days of activism, I have seen nearly 700 people change their minds on abortion for an average of 23 people a day

Out of all of our conversations with pro-choice people, 34.6% (about 1 in 3) change their minds to being more pro-life with 22.1% become fully pro-life (about 1 in 4.5)

To any pro-lifer out there, please speak up!! Your voice is necessary and fruitful. Activism does work and preborn children need our voices more than ever. With over 1.1 million abortions happening a year in just Canada and the US alone, and an estimate of 73 million a year globally, we need to speak up for them

I hope these stats encourage someone out there to join a local pro-life group and work towards a world where abortion is an unthinkable injustice like previous social reform movements of the past

i believe it’s a case by case basis. if the mother is not physically or mentally able to carry and birth a child, they should be able to choose to get an abortion. i think it should be legal in the early parts of pregnancy for everyone.
