Reasons I love Bollywood: one week you struggle to recover from the self inflicted pain of Housefull 3 (sorry, I still love you Akshay!), then your faith is restored and your emotional core destroyed by the sheer force of Udta Punjab. Everyone needs to see this film! I laughed, I cried, my heart broke at several points. The controversy was worth it, the people opposed to the release have no idea how pro-Punjab and anti-drugs the film is. The issues tackled are not fiction, as claimed by some naysayers. Some scenes are tough to watch, all performances are powerful, in fact I cannot fault a single thing about the whole production. I would go as far as to say this is one of, if not THE best film of 2016. Having waited for this since before it went into production, my expectations were extremely high and have been totally blown off the scale. This is a triumph for Indian cinema and I’ve never been more proud to be a fan.
