In the second panel Kevin replies “I hate that flag because it represents a country that will vote for a party that think cutting benefits to that soldiers is necessary. While they give tax breaks and incentives to the oil companies that got that poor guy in the wheelchair in the first place. I would shake his hand, not salute an inanimate object.
The third panel is the soldier saying “The military industrial complex left me with a permanent extremely painful and costly injury and severe PTSD in an unjust war. It has become increasingly difficult to receive aid from the system that promised to take care of me for the rest of my life for my service. I am twice as likely as a civilian to commit suicide. You are also exercising your rights to not stand for the flag and this teacher fundamentally misunderstands the reason “we go to war in the first place” even though there hasn’t been an official war declared in over 50 years, and most fighting going on at the moment is done to further US economic domination in other countries.”
