Skandamātā is the fifth form of Hindu Goddess Durga. Literally meaning Mother of Skanda, her name comes from word, Skanda is another name for war god and her son Kartikeya and Mata is the term for mother. Skandamātā is four-armed and rides on a lion. She carries a lotus. Her one hand is in blessing posture. Lord Skanda (Mrurugan/Kartikeya) can be seen in her lap. She possesses four arms out of which two often hold the lotus flowers. One of her hands is always in the boon-conferring gesture. Her complexion is white and she is seated on the lotus. So, she is also called Goddess with a lotus-seat (Padmāsana). Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of Himachal Pradesh. The name "Spiti" means "The middle land", between Tibet and India. It is surrounded by high mountain ranges and situated at maximum elevation of about 13,500 ft above mean sea level. This valley is likewise cut off from the north up to eight months of the year by heavy snowfalls snd thick icing conditions. JAPANESE EGG SANDWICH 15mins recipe (prep n assembly) 2 - 3 servings Ingredients 4 hard boiled eggs(9mins) 2soft boiled eggs(6 mins) White sandwich bread preferred ( I used brown breads) Japanese Mayo ( otherwise any good mayo) Dijon mustard Salad 4 chopped hard boiled eggs Relish Chopped spring onion Salt Pepper White vinegar (optional) 1. Boil the eggs first (don't forget to add salt to water and keep a timer for eggs). 2. Take the eggs out in a cold iced water bath n keep it aside and take the shells off. 3. Mix everything from the above mentioned ingredients for salad. 4. Spread mayo on one bread and Dijon mustard (optional) on other. 5. Slice soft boiled eggs n keep the yolk side facing the mayo ,add salad and finally cover it with the dijon mustard slice bread. 6. Cut it into half and serve. Incase you're using bigger size sandwich bread cut the sandwich into three pieces and cut the crust edges of bread slices too. P.S. - Self explained slides. BON APPÉTIT !! ENJOY !! Taktsang Lhakhang is Bhutan’s most iconic landmark and religious site. The name Taktsang translates to “The Tiger’s Nest”. This temple is one of the most holy sites in the kingdom and clings impossibly to a sheer cliff face 900 meters above the Paro Valley. It was first built in 1692 at a cave where Guru Rimpoche meditated in the 7th century A.D. Legend states that Guru Rimpoche flew to the site atop the back of a tigress and meditated in the cave for 3 years, 3 months, 3 days and 3 hours in order to subdue evil demons residing within it. The cave has been considered a sacred site ever since and many famous saints have travelled to meditate in it. Interesting fact- The original structure actually burned down in 1998. The Tiger’s Nest seen today is the result of a 135 million Ngultrum (about $2 million US) restoration and rebuilding project that finished in 2004. Despite being built in the 21st century, the monastery’s architecture and design resembles that of 8th century temples. . . TADOBA NATIONAL PARK Also known as Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve is a wildlife sanctuary in Chandrapur District of Maharashtra. Created in 1955 this National Park is oldest and largest in Maharashtra State. The total area of the reserve is 625.4 sq Km. This includes Tadoba National Park, with an area of 116.55 sq km and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary with an area of 508.85 sq km.To the southwest is the 120 hectares Tadoba Lake which acts as a buffer between the park's forest and the extensive farmland . This lake is a perennial water source which offers a good habitat for Muggar crocodiles to thrive. There are 88 tigers in the reserve, and 58 in the forests immediately outside the reserve. Aside from the keystone species the Bengal Tiger, Tadoba Tiger Reserve is home to other mammals including: indian leopard, sloth bears, gaur, nilgai, dhole, striped hyena, small indian civet, jungle cats,sambar, barking dear , chital, chausingha and honey badger. Reptiles here include the endangered Indian python and the common indian monitor, Indian star tortoise, Indian cobra and Russel’s Viper also live in Tadoba.Around 195 species of birds are recorded and 74 species of butterflies. In May 2018 Black Panther was also spotted in this park which is very rare sight. Important fact: Tadoba or Taru was the name of the god of tribal people who lived in the dense Tadoba area of the forest. It is believed that Taru was the head of the village, who was killed in a great encounter with the tiger. . . From July 14, C/2020 F3 or NEOWISE, a comet discovered on March 27, will be clearly visible in the north-western sky in India. It will be visible after sunset for around 20 minutes for the next 20 days. People can observe it with naked eyes. In the evenings to follow, the comet will rapidly climb higher in the sky and will be visible for a longer period. ADIYOGI STATUE meaning 'The first yogi' itself refering to Shiva the orignator of yoga. The statue stands 112 feet tall, 147 feet long and 82 feet wide at the foothills of velliangiri mountains. It was built from a total of 500 tonnes of steel. The statue was erected at ISHA YOGA CENTRE at Coimbatore designed by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, as a inspiration of inner well being through yoga and acheive ultimate potential. AMER FORT Located 11 kms from Jaipur, it was originally built by the Meenas, and later ruled by Raja Man Singh I. Fort stands on rocky hill of Cheel ka Teela and situated next to the Maota lake. Constructed in Senibinanya artistic style, combining elements of Hinduism and Mughal symmetry throughout. Some important parts of the fort are Diwan-e-Aam, Sukh Mandir, Sheesh Mahal, Kesariya Kyaari and light show. In 2013, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Situated in the town of Sasaram in Bihar, this tomb is a stunning example of Afghan architecture in India. This mausoleum is designed by Sher Shah himself and was completed within three months after his death. Built in red sandstone, it is often called as 'second Taj Mahal of India' colloquially. This three storeys tall mausoleum is standing at the centre of a lake. JALIANWALA BAGH A historic memorial of the "JALIANWALA BAGH MASSACRE", this site is the remembrance of the dreadful day of VAISAKHI of 13th April 1919, here lies the screams of a mass of 15000 which was open fired without any pre-warning. The BAGH still hosts 120 bullet marks on its walls and the pain of 1500 people wounded/killed under command of "Brigadier General R.E.H. Dyer". But then again this memorial was not meant to symbolise horror instigated here but as a symbol of the sacrifice given by our ancestors, our heroes who rose against the oppression without any second thoughts for their life and a visit here is like lighting the flame in our hearts to take pride in our history ........so next time you visit Amritsar do visit here..... . .
