“We choose our own path. Our values and actions, they define who we are.” - Tate Porter, 28, Sinner/Lust
While many may think that Tate is greedy or even envious, they would be wrong. He does show many signs of several virtues a regular man would be ashamed of - however, lust is his ultimate Achilles heel. He’s lustful for power. Lustful for money and more than anything lustful to show his family that he isn’t such a failure and can survive without them. Of course, he often shows his lustfulness in the most obvious way - holding many a raunchy orgy in one of the luxury suites of his hotel.

Tate James Porter, eldest son of one of Manhattan’s most influential businessman grew up knowing that a lot was expect of him throughout his life. He was taught from a young age to stand up straight, only speak when directly spoken to and that one day he was to take over from his father in the business. Failure was not an option. In saying that, Tate never once lived up to any expectation growing up. He did everything he could to rebel against the rules set forth by his parents. Always being knocked around by his father; who would argue he was only teaching his son the value of a life lesson.  But having been sent to one of the most pristine schools in the upper east side, everyone knew his family. He was practically famous. The Porter’s were known for their numerous successful business’ and constant appearance on the front page of the New Yorker whereas Tate was known for being an absolute misfit. Hard into drugs and alcohol from a young adolescent, he was always stuffing up and causing his family grieve. So much so that half way through his second last year of schooling his parents were fed up with his behavior and sent him away to a boarding school for the year and a half he had left of school.
Life did not improve much while he was away, there was less that he could stuff up for his family but that didn’t mean he didn’t take every chance to cause trouble. Being caught after lights out with a girl, smoking on campus, drinking in class.. you name it and Tate got in trouble for it at boarding school. Of course, that didn’t impress his parents but it was like Tate couldn’t help himself. He didn’t know how to walk a straight line. An impulse inside him that he couldn’t stop and he knew it. The people around him knew it. But as soon as his father pointed it out in a heated argument at his high school graduation. All hell broke loose throughout the Porter family. Tate hasn’t spoken a word to his father since. His mother has tried several times to keep the peace between the two hot headed males, but neither will budge. Tate wanted nothing to do with his egoistical father and was determined to succeed without his influence. While his father exclaimed that Tate would never amount to anything and he couldn’t wait to watch his son fail.
Almost ten years down the track and Tate has proved one thing at least. He can be successful without his father, make money and run a business but behind the scenes he is a broken man. Not having spoken to any of his family in years, he’s made a name for himself as a hotel owner in Las Vegas. Not exactly something that would fit the Porter name but it keeps Tate comfortable. More than comfortable if you take into account the constant benders. His adolescent behavior never resting.  He drinks until he can barely see and holds extravagant parties in his penthouse apartment on the top floor of his hotel. Illicit drugs pulsing through his system throughout every single one. Those who work for him know when it’s a bad time for Tate, often when he was a pleading phone call from his mother to come home. Many have learnt to handle him when he’s at his lowest. But what will happen if his family comes crashing into town?
