SUCCESSION (Season 4 Episode 5) (2023)

This episode found the Roys and co. travelling to Norway to meet Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgard) and his colleagues. Multiple Norwegian locations were used to create the single "corporate retreat" setting. The most architecturally striking of these are the Juvet Landscape Hotel ( featured on this blog before, as it was also the location for EX MACHINA (2014)) and the Eggen Restaurant, at the top of the The Romsdalen Gondola. Day 21 - What Makes Me Sad

As I finished up some paperwork before heading home, I had the sense that someone was here. Not strange in and of itself, but everyone had gone home. I saw them out myself and locked up. I looked up and noticed that the framed photo of Dad was askew. Not just slightly but drastically askew.

I went over to the photo and gently straightened it. “Hey, Dad. Is that you I feel watching me? Keeping an eye on things, huh?” I smiled and brushed some dust off the frame. Sometimes I worried that I’d forget what he looked like. What his voice sounded like. It would hit me at the weirdest times. How much I missed him. Especially since I was running his firm and living in the house he designed. “Maybe you’re right. I’m working too hard and should head home.”

Home where my beautiful fiancée was. Sighing softly as I logged off my computer and grabbed my messenger bag. I regretted not seeing Dad one last time before he died. Mostly I regretted that he would never see Rissa and I wed. See how amazing she was and what a fantastic addition to our family she was. Mom and my aunt were crazy about her when we visited them in California right after we got engaged. I knew that he would have loved her almost as much as I do.

Just before I turned to lock up the office, a light glinted off the photo of Dad now hanging straight and sure on the wall. “Night, Dad. I love you too.”
